“Slipspace? Not sure but we have a look, if you want. I know for a fact that I have Z-Space capabilities” Getting up, he saw the one called Cale get up and say :...Returning to ship, visit if you want...:

“Nah, I should probably help Parker.” With that, he reached back to the table, grabbed his glass of bourbon and coke and started to head over to the door. “Well? You coming, Parker?”

That was an interesting thing for Danika to hear. "I'll keep that in mind." She said offhandedly. After she said it, she realised the statement could possibly be taken the wrong way. But she maintained her effort to seem innocent. She wasn't here to forcibly take anyone away. If he had meant for that to happen, he would have made her bigger.

"I will never return to the Empire," Ardiss says softly, scowling at Corliss, "but I am not leaving the arrogance of one group just to be forced to serve under another. You are so concerned with how I treat this body," she gestures to Christine's form, "and yet you lack regard for your own kind. This is not black and white, rebel or Empire. I do not have to choose which group I belong to, and I should be able to forge my own path."

Ardiss pauses to take another sip of her beer and, deciding that she really can't stand the stuff, pushes it away. Regarding Temrash she nods slightly, "I will, of course, accept any true help that comes my way. It is the help that comes with an agenda that I tend to dislike."

Keirdan scrunches up his face in protest, and stares up at Breekan. "I don't want to play with you, I want to play with my friend." He unconsciously takes a step toward Danika.

<Ah, well the Empire is certainly not above trickery, just take a look at Seran...>  Ossanlin shakes his head.  <It happens to the best of us, you had a contract with them, you trusted them at least that far...no one can blame you for that.  Though I personally would not place any trust in an Imperial at any time.  I, for one, am glad that that Yeerk didn't take the time to look through your thoughts and truly learn how to use your body.  It handled you ungracefully and simply tried to overwhelm with pure brute force...it almost worked.>

Ossanlin takes a nice long draught with his immersed hoof.  <At least it's over and that Imperial is dead and gone...your freedom is your own again.  Do you think you'll continue to pursue your bounty-hunter career?>

"You don't have to associate with the rebels anymore than the Empire if you don't want to, Ardiss. Personally, I'm unsure what the exact goals of the rebels are. Fight to help their people get out of the mess the Council put them in, or fight to defeat the Council? I merely want to help you start over. I want to help the Yeerks fighting this war realise that leaving the Empire is a viable option, and that we don't have to suffer under the Council just because they control our life source."

"It was a cheap, ameteur move. And look at what it did to my chest. I need not have suffered these wounds if it was a true battle. I think I will be quitting my current employment and retiring. My other clients who wanted to recover an item from the skrit Na will understand if I resign. They have a tendancy to send more than one mercenary to a job, and pay whoever gets what they want first. The job will be completed by someone else.

Breekan sighs. "Oh, go ahead," he says, motioning him off with his hand.

"Don't worry. I'll bring him back in due time." Danika said. She walked a ways to the door, then looked back to see if Keirdan would follow.

Keirdan grins, and hugs Breekan's leg quickly before darting after Danika. "What's due time?" He asks.

"It's...well, it's whenever you want to be." Danika said. "Let's go explore."

"Okay." Keirdan agrees. He follows Danika out of the bar. "Want to see where we hid sissy's ship?" he asks her.

Corliss lets Temrash berate him, and just listens, not leaving the table.  In a moment laughs sincerely.  "Temrash, it sounds like your goals are precisely the same goals of our little rebellion.  So I think you've answered your own question."  He glances at Ardiss.  "As for why I'm here and why I'm so interested in being a thorn in your collective sides, I honestly want to know where you're going, Ardiss, and how you're going to survive.  Both you and your human host.  If you really aren't interested in being under house arrest with my people, and I certainly can't blame you, then I need to know if you're ever planning on knocking on our door for supplies.  There isn't a very large market for the exclusive needs of Yeerk biology, outside of the Empire, you know.  Not to mention it's really hard to order a pizza.  One becomes accustomed to the convenience, and you simply can't afford to cut off contact with us forever.  We're a very good contingency plan, if I do say so, because we're very good at getting what we need to survive."

He finishes the last of his ale and sets down the glass.  "But let's be frank, you must have some kind of plan, and you must be good at getting what you want, too.  Otherwise why would you act upon your disgust for the way of life the Empire had forced upon you?"  He glances slyly at Temrash.  "Of course, your friend Temrash here would prefer that you remain our enemy.  And that's fine, if it's what you want.  I have a long list of more important things I could be doing right now."

"Sure. Let's go." Danika said. She could examine the ship, as well as spend some time getting close to Keirdan. Of course it would only be fair to allow him to see her pod after he showed her his. This could work well.

***************

She doesn't need to worry about supplies if she sticks with me. Though I don't mean to seem to be building a metaphorical wall between you and Ardiss. I'm just tryign to say that there's no need for her to spend all her time in a pool while we try to teach her to be social and well developed. Even the most involuntary host will eventually start saying yes sir and no sir, and submit to whatever you put them through, but that doesn't mean they're voluntary. It just means they learned how to get you to let them out of the cage."

Keirdan bounds off toward the woods behind the bar. He looks over his shoulder to make sure Danika is following, and begins to chatter. "Don't tell them I showed you. Shal isn't supposed to know the ship is here. She'd leave if we told her. Breekan would get really mad. I think he wouldn't let you be my friend anymore. That'd make me sad. I've never had a friend before." He smiles at Danika, and turns back toward the woods.

As they begin to enter the sparse woods, he tries his best to stomp through the tall grass. He trips, falls, and stands back up. He brushes off his hands on his pants, and glances around warily. "I think it's back here. It's near a tree with a big hole in the truk.. It looks like someone shot it with somethin' big."

"Oh, surely you've had friends before, Keirdan. I would think it's easy for children to make friends. The children that live where I'm from are friends with everyone, except the grouchier adults and elderly." Danika said as she followed Keirdan. "So where would shal go if she found her ship and left with it?"
