Corliss regains a bit of his strength and aims at the demon from his spot next to Gaz's ship, firing his Dracon at it...just to see if it would do any good at all.  The red beam lances at the creature, the heat wave curling some of the leaves on the trees above him.

X held her left hand pressed against her forehead and groaned. A feeling like seasickness rose through her body and for a long moment, she thought she was going to vomit. The creature's attempts at control had faltered abruptly and left her in a hungover state.  She stepped back from the fray, sword still raised in defiance while she regrouped and fortified her mental defenses, trying not to retch.  She could glimpse into the other Plane, not enough to really register what was going on.  But she could see that Things were gathering, and no part of that could possibly be fortunate.

It dared to mock them, and she glared right back.  Agent X appreciated a good maniacal laugh as much as anyone else, but it was just a cheap scare tactic.  When she'd been in service to her demon, she'd used every creepy power in her arsenal on her missions.  Seeing Khazrak change forms, hearing its disturbing laughter, for X it was much like having worked behind the scenes at a haunted house and going through it as a customer on her day off.  It didn't freak her out. But the threat of the loss of control did.

She didn't take her eyes off of it as she spoke, though she was speaking to those close enough to hear her. "This sword can take it out, if I get a chance. It's a different kind of energy than what it's been eating." She didn't bother to explain how it works. She also didn't mention that the sword wouldn't do any demon-killing if the daemon managed to take her mind and have her turn on them all.  She wasn't going to say anything at all about that, it was a matter of pride.  They'd figure it out soon enough if it happened.  And the beast had waned its mental attacks, so it didn't matter anyway. ...Right?

"We need a weapon that eats energy.  A big fat sponge.  Or this is only going to get worse."

"Alright, guys. We're almost there. Jump into real space will be soon, so get ready to fight." Zoshonel said. Though he wasn't sure Ardiss or Mar would be doing much fighting. It didn't need saying that he didn't trust Ardiss like he trusted Temrash, and mar was obviously weaker than he could be.

****************

Danika's pod loomed closer as the tentacles slithered around, and the nanobots surrounded the creatire. The nanobots would not be so quickly absorbed, and the pod wouldn't dissolve before the beast was delivered to Mecha Star. At least, that was Danika's hope.

"It seems like no matter how hard we hit it, something worse ends up happening," Breekan reasons. "We need to see if it can be led away somehow..." he looks down at his suit. "Or contained!"

Corliss glances briefly at Breekan, then back at the demon.  He does a double-take and stares at his friend.  Myitt always found the strangest people to hang around with.  "What?" he demands.  "You mean you can stuff that bloody thing into your...your suit?  What are you, a ****ing Ghostbuster, man?"

((This club is just getting larger. XD ))

Mar nods and slowly stands up from his seat, dusting himself off. He's not exactly thrilled about fighting a soul devourer with a nasty wound on his side, but he has no choice. He's already signed up for this madhouse.

Mar glances at Zoshonel and states, "Do you have some kind of weapon that's extra? A sword, maybe? I might not be able to draw my own weapons but I bet I could charge an already existing device."

((Note: Mar can't use any form of gun very well. He could probably shoot himself with it or shoot a very close target, but his aim with one's too terrible for much else. He can however use melee weapons surprisingly well, mostly swords.))

Slowly the stranger rose from their seat and languidly walked toward the front door. They paused in front of it hesitating. They really didn't want to reveal themselves in such a harsh manner as a fight would bring.

But there was no choice. They gripped the handle with seeminly white knuckles, opened the door and stepped outside.

The sight was not pretty.

Shal stares at the stranger exiting the bar. She rubs her eyes, then closes them, leaning back against the ship.

Keirdan sits on the floor of the galley with his bowl of ice cream. He begins to shovel it in, not paying much attenion to what he's doing. As he drops a spoonful on Fletcher's shoe, he quickly picks it up with his fingers, and pops it in his mouth.

As Parker nears the slime creature's tail, the creature rotates itself and attempts to grab Parker with one of its claws. Parker twists himself around, in order to split the limb in two, but the claw retracts back into the super-demon as it's getting barraged by a ship's weapons.

Parker lands in a backward skid. "What's happening now?"

<It appears that the energy absorbed by the ships weapons is forcing it to transform again.>

"Well, now what the hell is going to be?"

Parker looks on as the creature begins to retain it's original form. "Huh, well, it's getting smaller at least." He begins to close the increasing the distance between him and the shrinking monster. He now notices Hunter collapsed in the doorway with the heavy weapon guy supporting him. Parker uncouples his katana from his energy sword, and put is back in its sheath. Energy sword still in hand, he keeps a watchful eye as the monster, fully renewed, begins laughing at the previous battle.

“Do you think it’s settled down, now that it’s whole?”

<We can only hope.>

Parker keeps his distance, but keeps his sword at the ready. He sees the orb that brought the cat begin to attempt to encase the demon. “Well, let’s hope it can capture it.”

Ossanlin feels the mental attack weaken and finally vanish as the creature changes form yet again.  Ossanlin collapsed to his knees, holding his seven-fingered hands to his head, his eyes squeezed shut as the pain he'd been staving off assaults his head full-force.  He tries to gather himself together and tries to stand again but only collapses back to his knees, almost passing out and falling to the ground.  He reaches out a small tendril of energy to barely touch the newly transformed creature and he recoils, the thread of energy snapping back.  Somehow he felt that this was the demon's true form, and with it's true form might come true power.  If the past battle had been only a warm-up...

He received a message from Mar.  He didn't know exactly how, but somehow the shinigami had imparted meaning into his energy signal.  He was stuck on a ship away from the bar...he couldn't help.  Well that was just great...Ossanlin had expended considerable energy on defending against the demon's other form...he wouldn't hold out much longer without some recovery time, especially if the daemon had increased further in power.  It was not the Ellimist or Crayak who could blink an eye and cease mortal existence, but it had considerable power...if only Mar were available, even if only for his knowledge on demonic entities...if only Ossanlin could risk another trip to the timestream, but he dismissed that out of hand.  Even if he could do it and alone at that, the risk was far greater to both himself and the warp and woof of existence than when he and Mar had resurrected Myitt.

<I believe...I believe this is it's true form.>  The pain is obvious in Ossanlin's tone of thought even though he attempts to mask it.  <If it has gotten even stronger...>  Ossanlin let the thought hang.  The last form had taken a lot.  The others seemed to be in somewhat better shape...perhaps Ossanlin had taken the brunt of the daemon's attack...perhaps the others could still fight well...maybe...it was a frail hope.

The Daemon noted absently that the ‘pod’ had formed tentacles and was obviously attempting to capture it, a minor shift in his from changed it from being solid and corporeal to being slightly hazy and ethereal, his form half in half out of the Warp. For it to be contained both the its now Ethereal form and its Warp essence needed to be found and the Warp was endless and seething with things worse then Daemons.

Part of its mind delved into the Warp, searching and occasionally sending bursts of energy out, removing the energy it did not need and storing the more vital energy in reserves for later.
A beam of heat energy was fired at it, and went straight through its near-nonexistent form; its attention was drawn to the one who had fired the weapon and it smiled again.

There were a few remaining Nurglings and it dissipated these with a thought, sending the pestilent mites screaming back into the Warp, where they belonged. Thats better, no filthy little mites, darlings though they are"

Its gaze fell upon the one whom it had attempted to control, that one’s defiance amused it to no end; it spoke “Your little mind is safe for now” Its gaze roamed over all of them “As are the rest of you Mortals” The Daemon paused for a moment, letting its words sink in, it had made up its mind that it would observe, since it had been sated with the Energies from their weapons, even though it did enjoy Devouring more then the occasional Soul, it preferred to aggravate Mortals into attacking it and absorbing everything it could, the fact that the pod loomed closer was of no interest to the rejuvenated Daemon, it merely allowed another part of it to sink back into the Warp, causing its form to go a little more transparent.

The armored human was obviously ready to attack at a moment’s notice, certainly nothing to worry about since Khazrak was no longer completely in existence.
Its eyes were drawn to the Andalite and it inclined its head, a gesture of respect for a worthy foe, of mental abilities anyway.
A tendril of its mind reached out and brushed the Andalites, imparting a small measure of energy. Another token of resepct.

The Daemon smiled as it remembered the fight fondly “That was greatly entertaining.” Its voice reverberated strongly; "And energising, havent had such good battle in Millennia" It chuckled and with a wave of its hand summoned a strong unnatural wind to dispel the nanoswarm, and fixed its attention on the fox humanoid, it spoke to itself absently “Hmmm, a little too much? Maybe...” Khazrak sent a pulse of energy at the fox, designed for nulling the acid and beginning the healing process, also for adding a little strength.

That dealt with the Daemon abruptly remembered that it hadnt introduced itself to the Mortals. “Ah yes, how rude of this one” He gave a little bow and chuckled again, an edge of madness evident “This, heh, humble Daemon is known as Khazrak, Devourer of Souls” He seemed to abruptly notice the orb and sent a rather powerful if absent push, using the Warp energies that coalesced around it, to remove the Orb from its personal space. Such an entertaining fight”

Ossanlin's eyes widen as he feels the demonic mind brush up against his own.  His upper-torso jolted stalk-straight as energy flows through his mind and body.  He stands slowly, the sharp, stabbing pain in his head fading to a dull throb.  He allows his hands to drop to his sides.  Had the evil daemon just given him energy?!  That seemed impossible, or at the very least improbable, but apparently it had.

It had thought the fight amusing...entertain ing?  Ossanlin had been battling for his very mental existence and possibly the very existence of his soul...at least the entity had ceased its attacks.  Khazrak was it's identity?  Devourer of souls...it sounded like Mar would not get along with this fellow...but then how could any of them?  True, Crayak's attention would've been worse, but Khazrak's was anything but pleasant.  Had that incline of the head been a gesture of respect?  Well, at least Ossanlin had made an impression, even if it had taken almost everything he had to offer.

The creature seemed to fade out a bit, and then further.  Ossanlin allows his mind to probe at the creature's existence and it appears that the creature was placing a portion of itself into the timestream.  No, something else...a realm of existence beyond the time-stream.  Was this thing capable of entering a fifth dimension?  Could it really form a tesseract?  Such power and ability could not be ignored.  None of them could rest easy while this Khazrak had his attention here.

Ossanlin pulls back his mental probes and rubs at his temples, resting and contemplating.  Now the thing seemed to be helping, but Ossanlin was far from trusting the being.  He mutters to himself more than anything, his thoughts escaping quietly in a wide thought-speech.  <A tesseract...no wonder my null-time field had no effect.  If one exceeds a dimension, it no longer has power.  In the second dimension, a line is a binding barrier, but enter the third and the line is no hindrance.>

Agent X raised an eyebrow, and only half-listened to Ossanlin's explanation of the time thingy. The sword in her hand drooped an inch but she was still cautious. "So, what, ...Khazrak you're done now? Just like that?" Call her paranoid, but she'd seen what these things could do, or at least something very similar. Deception was always part of the package.  But she wasn't going to swing at him unless he started up again.

The pure unbelievability of the situation had cured her nausea and almost all of her drunkenness. And now she was annoyed. "You just go around picking fights for the sh*ts and giggles?  Then what?  Stick around for shots after the whole thing's over?" A pause. "Actually that doesn't sound like a bad idea." She might steal that one. Not for this bar though. Never piss where you sleep, or however that old phrase went.
