Mar smirks. "Oh don't worry. I won't bother you too much about it unless it becomes useful. And could you please help me walk? If I do end up helping in some way it may just kill me."

"Sure," says Myitt, helping support Mar with her good left arm around his shoulders.  Some very strong part of her is repulsed to be so close to him, even touching him, but she can't help but smile a bit.  "The blind leading the blind," she murmurs, nodding at her bandaged arm.  "You know what we need?  Someone to follow us playing American Civil War tunes on a piccolo."

Ossanlin accepts the link Myitt offers him.  "No Myitt, I've only been intercepting Yeerkish transmissions for about seven years now..."  Ossanlin manages to convey a wry grin with his eyes.  "Well, my Mirage is fast and powerful, but I think my use would be better suited on the Tyrennian, helping your base in case things go south.  A Dome can transfer a lot of people very quickly in relative comfort, not to mention relative safety as well.  Good luck, for what it's worth, looks like things are going to get a little less exciting around here."

He looks over at Alic and blushes slightly, his skin turning a bit purplish for a moment as his thoughts cross other territories momentarily.  He schools himself against such thoughts, they were not becoming of a War-Prince.  "I think we'll manage...hey Myitt, Temrash, if you two catch that...being...dip him in a salt-bath for me."

Seran:

Seran chuckles to himself as his surprisingly dextrous fingers work through the holo-display making calculations and possible trajectories.  He had found a reasonable radius within which the rebel base can exist.  He goes through the star-charts in his datapad and overlays the correct sector and area of space.  "So, are you on the class-3 planet or it's moon...or are you on an orbital asteroid?  No matter little rebel, your band is as good as dead now."

Seran summons the sub-visser of the outpost.  "I will have private access to your long-range transponder now."

"Begging your pardon Visser, but the transponder is not usable right now...the current configuration of Z-Space is not allowing transmissions."

Seran raises an eyebrow, not a kind look on his face.  "Idiot, do you not have an aligner?  I will do it myself.  Show me to the comms center and provide me with personnel.  I will have the transponder working and you will be lucky to keep your rank."

"I am an experienced fighter, and I know how to take orders during battle." Zoshonel told Myitt respectfully. "Even though I'm young, I know how to be serious when it is needed."

*********************************

Elsewhere, the Gedd mechanic was very busy. He had managed to stop all communications for now. He was also working on a subtle plan to make it so that when things were fixed, the messages themselves would be sent out garbled. Maybe it would buy them enough time. Maybe he would luck out, and this mission wouldn't end up killing him.

*********************************

Some time after Myitt and the others left, the Yeerks who were bringing ardiss' host showed up. A bugfighter landed down, and three humans walked out. Two were middle aged, while one was in her early twenties. They almost looked like a family taking a vacation, as they entered the bar.

"Good. You're here." Temrash said.

"It is an honour to see you once again, Visser." The two older controllers said, as they bowed. The other bowed a bit as well.

"I am no longer a Visser, and you do not have to bow. I thank you for bringing her, and yuour expenses will be paid for. Come, and have a seat."

"We would rather not, sir. This place stinks of Andalite." The man said in contempt, as he glanced towards Alic and Oss.

"We respect your views on andalites, sir, but I'm afraid we do not share them." The woman said.

"All right. You may leave the girl with me. Thank you again."

"You are welcome." They said. The woman gently took the girl's chin in her hand, and turned her head tiowards her. "Now listen, Christine. Obey your new master, and do not drink any alchohol from this place. It will poison your body, and make you ill suited as a host. Do you understand?"

"Yes ma'am."

The controllers left after that, leaving Christine with Temrash.

"You may call me temrash, Christine. I'm afraid Ardiss is not here right now, as she was sent on an important assignment. However, you may do whatever you want while you wait."

"May...may I please go outside?"

Of course you may. Just stay within earshot."

Christine was happy to be outside, after the long trip in the bugfighter. She sat in the shade of the bar, with her shoes off, feeling the grass. The grass itsself, and the sky, were not like Earth. But they were still nicer than the bugfighter.

Alic nodded as Myitt left the bar. They were trusting all these beings they did not know to go up there, and she was stuck on the ground waiting.
Alic glared at the new humans who entered the bar, and would have been offended if it wasn't the slug talking. <You're smelling what's in your hosts' heads, you disgusting worms.> Her tail was swaying slightly, she would love to just get rid of them, but there were more important things happening, like waiting for a call from Myitt.

Corliss watches everything transpire, idly turning the link over in his hands.  He's particularly interested in the two human-Controllers who enter with the human girl and leave.  "Don't worry, Alic," he says softly.  "Clearly there's nothing much inside their 'eads, anyway.  Bastards."

He leans over to Temrash.  "What were they, then?  Some sort of militant right wing Peace Movement members, who trust a human to a former Interrogator whom they don't even know?"

---

"Good, Zoshonel," says Myitt.  "Then your first order is not to touch anything, unless I specifically tell you to.  Just sit down along the side and strap yourself in, the living metal restraints will conform to your body.  Do you know much about Yeerk ships?"

The little group reaches Ardiss' ship, and Myitt smiles appreciatively up at it.  "Cruiser-class.  These guys are fairly new, they really are marvelous machines.  Fast and deadly."  She notices the flashing red of a new Bug fighter landing, watching the group of human and mostly-humans enter the bar.  She squints through the trees.  "Hmm, I bet you dollars to donuts that's the girl meant for Ardiss."  She glances at Kara, smirking slightly.  "Do you think we should trust Ardiss with her?"

(I had meant for Myitt and the others to be gone a day or two before the controllers arrived, so Myitt shouldn't have actually seen her. But whatever.)

"Yes ma'am." Zoshonel said after Myitt told him to just not touch anything. "I really don't know much about Yeerks, or their craft. I was in one when I was captured, but oddly enough they didn't allow me to roam around." He said with a sarcastic undertone with the last sentence.

*****************************

"Actually, Corliss, those are just two controllers that are loyal and trusting enough that they don't play twenty questions when I ask them something. All they wanted to know is if I planned to keep her or not. They don't know what I plan to do with her. That may seem off to you, but they are soldiers more than anything else. I originally stationed them with Visser Three to keep an eye on him, even before I went rogue. I never liked him. Especially since the Council seem to eat out of his hands, and give him far too many promotions."

(Sorry Chad...I interpreted "after Myitt left" to mean after they left the bar and could still be in the parking area.  Besides, jumping time like that kind of messes things up for the action on something that's supposed to take less than a day.  Just something to keep in mind.)

"I can't imagine why," replies Myitt with a smile.  She looks at Mar.  "A ship this size should have a ramp, which will make getting on board a bit easier.  Think you can manage?"

---

Corliss nods faintly.  "But where is there allegiance?  Do you simply have a network of friends who are against the Empire, like your Gedd friend working on Seran, or are these members of an organized group?  We do have some contact with the Peace Movement on Earth, although they are often loathe to get involved in acts of violence.  Too many human casualities, that sort of thing."  He grins.  "From what I've heard, I don't believe many people actually like Visser Three.  Poor bloke must have a terrible time at his birthday parties."

(I've just been wanting to put that in. I may have done it too soon.)

"All of my contacts work for me. They are basically members of my military force that I had spread around during my career in the Empire to help me monitor some things. Once I left, some of them maintained loyalty to me, even if they remain in the Empire. I don't have much contact with the Earth Peace Movement, though I believe Christine's Yeerk joined it. She was promoted to a more powerful figure, and Christine was currently between Yeerks."

"A network of friends could be an accurate description. Besides my combat skills, this is a big reason I have lasted so long against the Empire."

<You're right, Corliss. I know very few who do.> She hoped they would come back in and try to insult them again. She was curious about the human girl and almost followed her outside to speak with her and decided against it. This human might be voluntary but it didn't mean Ardiss was ready. Maybe she never changed.

Alic snorted in reply to Corliss and Temrash. <I don't know one sane being who likes Visser Three.>

Christine's stomache began rumbling, and she went back inside.

"Master temrash? Is there anything to eat?"

"I know they have ice cream. Perhaps some meat and vegetables, though it's hard to say if everything is totally safe. bartender, get my friend some ice cream please. put it on my tab."

Christine thanked the bartender after he brought the icecream, and a spoon. She savored her snack.

"I hope that you are not put off by being brought so far from earth. I was told you wouldn't mind too horribly."

"Earth is no more my home than any other place. My own people abandoned me, so I found new people."

"Good. I'm glad you're enjoying it."

"What's amazing," Breekan says, "is that so many people have heard of the guy, if he's only three Fissers." He nods sagely. "But whoever he is, I'm sure he's an idiot."

Gaz went on board The Vagabond and was doing another check of the systems. This time she was checking over the shielding device. It had to work perfectly, if it slipped up then everyone was in trouble.

Fletcher was sitting with his feet up doing some research on the cargo ship.

Gaz sat down in seat opposite him at the helm waiting for the word.

Mar nods, glancing at the ship. "It's certainly an interesting machine. Myitt should love being on something like this. And yes dear, I think I can manage if there's a ramp."

Mar then turns towards Kara, smiling. "It should be nice to go on a trip together. I would prefer that our first would be to my castle to dine, but Fate will have his way with you, I suppose."
