Salem spoke into his communicator, "Yeah, that was a friend of mine. You're out of the lake. Hey, set the ship to even. You're icing over."

The rear hatch of his ship opened, revealing a ramp into an open area cluttered with junk. Sitting on what looked like a large bucket of paint appeared to be a human man about Salem's age, with brown hair that hung to his neck. He was wearing what looked like an Earth tuxedo. As the hatch opened, he stood, straightened his tie, ran a hand through his hair, and walked down the ramp, grinning, with a hand offered to Thordon.

Salem then turned back to Thordon with a smile. "Your name was Thordon, right? If it's okay, I would like to give you something. Don't think of it as payment. Think of it as a gift to someone who'd appreciate it. And maybe incentive to let me take a genetic sample?" He looked at Thordon questioningly.

Thordon shook the stranger's hand with a smile. He then met Salem's gaze and replied with a smile, "I'm sorry, but that's impossible. As I said, this body is nothing but an avatar, an illusion. Instead of shaking this man's hand, I'm actually sending electric impulses to his nerve endings to make it feel as though I'm shaking his hand. I'm ascended, meaning that I am a being of pure energy. I have no physical form."

(I don't know if Keshin has ever really talked to Temrash. Just saying.)

Salem responded "Ah. You're probably what we'd call an Immortal." He grinned, "Hold on a sec." He jogged into his ship and began rummaging through a pile of random electronics.

The newcomer watched him for a second and rolled his eyes before turning to Thordon with a smile. "Hey. I'm Al. Thanks for getting me out of there. If I'd left it up to Tobias there," he jerked his thumb in Salem's direction, "who knows how long I'd have been down there."

Thordon smiled, "Nice to meet you Al. Did you say his name was Tobias? He called himself Salem." Thordon's smile leveled, "Why would he have cause to alter his identity?"

Al rolled his eyes again. "Humans," he muttered, before responding to Thordon's question. "He's in the habit of changing his name whenever he thinks it'd be dangerous to let someone identify him. I'm actually surprised he went with 'Salem.'"

Turning to the ship, he called "Hey, numb-nuts, what am I calling you now?"

Salem called from the ship, "Oh, I'm Salem. I forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me!" He seemed to find what he was looking for, and yanked it out of the pile, stumbling backwards into another pile of random junk with a loud crash. "Ow!" he yelled a moment later. He then scrambled up and walked to the front of the ship, where he began opening compartments, looking for something else.

Al hid his face in his hand for a moment before looking back at Thordon. "So, have you been ascended long?"

Thordon shrugged his shoulders, "I suppose so. We Anarons have extremely long lives compared to Humans, so we don't bother with keeping track of time. I myself have been alive for millenia." Thordon looked Al up and down a few times, "You have an odd Energy signature for a human."

Al smiled. "That's probably because I'm not human. I guess you'd call this body an android." He appeared to blur for a second, reforming as Salem. He continued in Salem's voice, "With holographic capabilities. It was a gift. I don't usually use this one, but it's nice for meeting anyone... Salem calls a friend." He smiled and quickly cycled through a half dozen other alien images, including one that was identical to Thordon and a Hork-Bajir, before returning to his original form. "It makes changing for a party easier too." He appeared for a second as the same human, only in a leisure suit, then in just heart boxers, before re-imaging with the tuxedo again, grinning. "So, your planet must be a crazy place if everyone can do what you just did. Sounds like it's asking for a Furka invasion."

Thordon watched as he changed his appearance and nodded in understanding. After made a comment about an invasion, Thordon tilted his head and asked, "What are those exactly? We Anarons have quelled an invasion once. Once a long time ago, a portal mysteriously appeared in our city. It linked our world with another, one whose Element was that of fire. They had assumed that we created the portal to attack them, so they decided to attack first. We held them back and were able to come to an agreement to becoming allies.

"In truth, these planets I've visited since coming here are more of a 'crazy place' than the planets of my universe. The fact that no one has mastery over any Element is hugely foreign. All citizens of Anarion can wield Energy. Those whose bodies are too weak to handle the power within them expire early in life. So the main populace of any city has the ability to defend its inhabitants. We even have not had any wildlife attacks since our ancestors first attained these abilities."

Al smiled. "I wouldn't think defending from Furka would be much of a concern. Where we come from, it's less an empire and more of a... galactic club that exists for no reason other than that its members want to have fun. Peoples whose empires are at war will often set aside their differences to attend Furka-sanctioned events. Concerts. Day hikes. The most insane parties you'll ever experience. If it can be enjoyed, somebody in Furka does it. I'm one of the founding members," he said proudly. "When Furka crashes a planet, it basically just amounts to millions or billions of party-goers landing all at once, staying and partying for a few days, and then staggering back home. Occasionally we actually get the government's support as well. I've organized some good ones in my time. Furka is occasionally obnoxious, but never dangerous."

As Al was finishing his speech, Salem found what he was looking for and wandered back out of the ship. He held a small, flat, rectangular device with a number of buttons on it. He pointed this at Thordon and pressed some buttons as he walked, and in a moment it trilled and he tucked it into his utility belt. As he walked up beside Thordon, he held out his hand, offering whatever was in it to Thordon. "You might like this."

Keshin and Joanne watch people come and go for some time before determining that Salem is taking too long. Keshin dully spins his finger in his grape juice glass. <We need to find somebody to talk to. The Bar's finally quieting down. Might as well be the guy right next to us, I guess. I wonder what his story is.>

<What? The armor guy?>

<Yeah. I mean, why wear something like that? He's gotta have a couple interesting secrets.>

Keshin glances at the Spartan and says, "Parker, is it? Why exactly do you wear such hot clothing all the time? It seems like a bit of a pain to get around in, powerful as it is."

"So you did have experience before your great war," Mar notes with a slight smile. "If things had been different, you would have been a first-rate car mechanic. But then we would have never met, now would we?"

Mar pauses and eventually states with a curious look on his face, "Were you...surprised by humanity's first contact? Were you expecting anything different, or did you not believe in aliens? Different civilizations have approached the subject in various ways, so I want to know how it may have gone with you."

(Paul L. Angel)

After saying his final goodbyes to his recenly deceased brother, he headed towards the Bar, borrowed shovel in hand. Powering down his helmet HUD, the visor raised up showing a gruff face, with hints of sadness showing in the corner of his eyes.

Walking up to the door, he opened up and headed towards the bar. Placing the shovel on the bar top, he took a seat and rested his C-14 Gauss rifle against his thigh. "Bartender, gimme something strong" he said.

As The Bartender reached under the counter for a glass, Paul looked around the building, seeing all kinds of different people and some aliens that he had never even heard of. One particular person caught his eye though. He was sitting at a table near the door, with some strange looking armour, and a multitide of weapons strapped to himself.

Turning back, he saw that the bartended had placed an unlabeled bottle on the bench and was busily scribbling something down on a notepad. 'Cash or Tab?' it said

"Tab, for now. I'll need it" Pouring himself a small amount, he downed the strong alcohol in one gulp. Coughing at the burning aftertaste, he said to himself and whoever nearby heard him "Haven't had a good Whiskey in ages"

"We might've met," Elayne shrugged, watching Mar with a grin. "I just might not have been quite as... empathetic," she told him. "After all, I wasn't out here on the business of the movement; I came here as a spaceship mechanic."

At his questions about aliens, she lifted her head, surveying the Bar's occupants as she thought. As she watched a man who had just entered down something that must have been ungodly strong judging by his choke, she shrugged and spoke to Mar. "To be honest, it wasn't something I thought about much. I remember figuring that the galaxy was too big a place to be entirely empty of life except for Earth, but I never imagined that there would be more than one or two other sentient species, much less species that were incredibly far advanced. And I certainly never thought that aliens were living among us in secret." She turned her eyes on him and smirked. "Alien invasions were the stuff of Hollywood, not reality."

Corliss shakes his head.  "I don't mind," he says, watching Efaen's body morph into human form with a mixture of interest and concern.  He wasn't very used to creatures morphing around him, and it looked like it should be painful.  He clears his throat, wondering how Terenia can hear with the mishmash of changing auditory systems, but continues, "Yes.  We are close.  It isn't too unusual, many Yeerk siblings can develop a close bond, a clique perhaps, to separate them from the vast number of others.  Yeerk twins sometimes become close by the very nature of their relationship to one another."

He looks away, lost in thought about the past.  "Myitt and I were very close as young soldiers, although we lost contact during the Hork-Bajir conflict.  When we reconnected on Earth...I was already very close to revealing my convictions against the Empire.  She had her current host by then, and I suppose we found it easier to leave everything behind if we left together.  There were others, as well.  Old friends.  One other sibling.  They were all assurances, in the end, that we weren't completely mad."

Thordon laughed lightly and said, "Well in that case, they may have been quarantined to a few of the smaller cities. Our civilization depends on every citizen doing their part to work towards the betterment of Anarion. Everyone has a job, certainly there is time for the self, however during work time, everyone that is scheduled, works. Though as there are three shifts in the day, and only one shift is working at one time, I suppose the other two would enjoy the activity. It would have to be sanctioned of course." He then looked at Tobias's hand that he offered to him, "What exactly is that?"

Parker looked away from Silver to Keshin, glad to have a distraction so he could wrangle his recovering emotions. His body, however was still directed to Silver to ensure her that he intended to keep their conversation going. In response to Keshin's question, Parker states, "The armor is molded to our bodies. Not one suit is the same to another. It's laced with a hydrostatic gel to lessen impacts and regulate my body temperature. No matter what the temperature is outside, it's constant inside my suit. My suit also has a computer system integrated in the lining and projects real-time updates on my visor. It has a motion detector, it keeps track of my ammo count with whatever weapon I hold. If I held the Corporal's gun, it could tell me how many rounds were in it the moment I picked it up. It tells me the status of my energy sheild," Parker slammed his hand to his chest, and the energy shield shone around him and faded as it recharged what little energy was used. The sound may have been noticable, but not alarming, "also I can zoom in on targets, and use it as a normal monitor display. And with the few scuffles that have broken out lately, it pays to be prepared in this place. You never know when or if a stray shot could come around and hit you. Also, as heavy as this armor is, it's powered so it actually enhances my movements. Besides, I've worn this armor for quite a few years, I'm used to it."
