Joanne nods a bit nervously. "Y...yeah. But I'm sick with somethin' nobody's been able to fix yet. Kess could probably explain it better. Kess's Yeerk buddies have medicine that staves it off, but nothin' cures it. That's cause I was born with it, and I hear stuff like that's tricky to get rid of. Tried to ignore it, but it just kept on gettin' worse. So we've had to keep on goin' like we are until somebody figures it out."

Keshin quickly steps in after this discussion. "Basically, Joanne's circulatory and metabolic systems do not work correctly. Her heart beats far too fast to be normal, and she converts energy...improperly from food, among other things. There are stranger effects and possibly other mutations I don't know about, but if things continue on as they are Joanne will die of a heart attack or starvation within ten years."

"Well there is Morgan who is the large Minotaur you've seen in the bar. There is also Gaz who looks like the other Humans around, but she'll be the one that answers to Gaz. And of course Temrash is the single Hork-Bajir controller around here. You know, the big lizard with blades and scars. I don't think he has anyone working for him with cryokenetic powers, so he may be interested."

(Gaz does look like a normal Human, right? I forget.)

Gelia nodded.  "I've met Gaz and Morgan, they seemed nice.  I haven't met Temrash yet, that may be an opportunity."  At the mention of her cryokenesis, Gelia smiled, and idly drew a circle of ice in the air with one finger, then hovered it above that finger.  "Yes...it does come in an awful lot of handy sometimes.  I'll find Temrash and speak to him.  Thank you, Zoshonel."

((Who plays Temrash?  -_-

And yes, Gaz looks like a normal human, I think.))

Elayne sat down in the pilot's chair and frowned, resting her elbow on the armrest and propping her chin up with the palm of her hand. "So," she said after a long moment, "you've always had this condition, Joanne? How long have you been under this Yeerk treatment plan?" She spun the chair to the far left console and tapped the screen, unlocking the computer by typing on a touchscreen keypad. "Wonder if I can access science journals from my time while I'm here..." she mumbled to herself as she waited for the screen to load.

((Seal, Temrash is on Elayne's ship right now, fyi. Unless I've missed something, which is entirely possible!))

Joanne nods, following Elayne to the pilot's chair and leaning slightly over it. "Yeah, it's been here me whole life I think. Not sure why I ain't dead. But it really got worse when I was startin' to get big, ya know? When I was a kid me Mum just thought I had some kinda heart condition and tried to help. We had enough money for a couple checkups, but nothin' big. As for how long I've been takin' the medicine..." Joanne paces back and forth a little and pauses, trying to work this out. "...maybe three or four years. I'm 26 now, an' I started doin' it a year or so after I met Kess. An' we met after I left the gang."

((I need some more info before I can post Thordon's experience stepping into the 4th dimension.))

Thordon nodded to Mar, "Thank you for the caution." He takes a step toward the portal, but hesitates. He looks to Ossanlin and says, "I renew my offer. It would be better to help energize your body further now while I still have my mind as well."

Elayne touched her toes to the floor and swung the chair around to watch Joanne. "I'll do what research I can," she said. "But no promises. I mean, if I did find some magical neuromodulation cure, it's not like we have the equipment here for that...." Then she frowned. "Or do we? Where there's a shovel, maybe there's some kind of deep brain stimulator, too," she laughed.

((Ossanlin probably would be the best one to do the describing. But in Animorphs it looks like a vast space where millions of threads are intertwining, and where someone of a metaphysical nature can either alter these threads or witness them at least. We know this from the encounters from the Ellimist. Depending on power level. Enough to give any mortal a headache, which is why Ossanlin doesn't like sticking around. But Thordon isn't mortal, so I'm guessing the experience wouldn't be as jarring to him. To Mar...well, it's like a gigantic evil game of cat's cradle that he isn't allowed to play with. -___-; But I guess it's up to you. Hell, in my head it was blue of all things, and Mar resembled a gaseous Eye of Sauron there. We mortals can be as vague as we want, so long as we have a couple shared things. XDD ))

Keshin laughs a bit. "Hey if you can supposedly go to our time, can't I go to your time too? They might have what I need there, and I here there humans are more friendly to their good buddies the Yeerks. Crazy as that seems to those of us from 2003. What're your plans, now that you've hit the bar? It can get pretty nuts in there."

Corliss smiles thinly.  "Nah, you won't be stuck in there forever, mate," he replies to Terenia.  "We'll make sure you've got some way out.  Anyway, if Efaen's seen the way you really are, the way your mind works...maybe she'll come around and decide to give you another chance?  She did say she'd reckon on it for a bit.  In the meantime, don't worry about spilling your whole life's story.  Most people can't seem to help doing that, here, I suppose it's therapeutic."  His smile broadens.  "There are games to play, not very good ones, but you know, imported from human computers.  Very basic.  And of course there are a few unencrypted files, feel free to browse while we wait."

In the meantime, Corliss picks up his personal comm link device, speaking into the thin black metal square, wincing a bit; all this talking was aggravating his sore skin.

"Myitt?  You there?  Where are ya?"

---

Myitt leans against one of the walls of Elayne's ship, arms gingerly crossed due to the bandages.  She listens to Keshin and Joanne explain all about their medical problems, most of which she was already pretty well aware of, considering their past encounters.  She also watches Elayne manipulate the human ship's computer systems with interest.  It was quite advanced, at least compared to the human technology she was used to.  Really nearly on par with Yeerk tech, if not equal.  Astounding.

Her comm link chirped, and she picked it up, answering the hail.  Corliss' voice streamed into the cabin.

"Yeah, I'm in that human girl Elayne's ship.  Nothing to worry about.  But man, you should see this thing.  It's a bona fide human spaceship, augmented with all kinds of Yeerkish-looking tech.  As in, from Earth's future.  Think about that for a minute."

"Christ, that's telling.  Hope it's our same future," he replies.

Myitt snurks.  "That's what I said.  Hopefully it's as good as it looks.  Are you still with Terenia?"

"-ssskkkk- Yeah, just trying to negotiate with her little Andalite friend.  Efaen's on Ossanlin's ship."

"Have a good time," Myitt says with a toothy grin.  "I'll reconnect with you in a little bit.  I still have groceries in cold storage, you know."

"-sss- Sounds good, mate.  Over and out."

"Roger that, John Wayne."

Myitt lowers the link, putting it back in one of her inner jacket pockets.

"Dimension jumping is risky business, so don't say I didn't warn you.  You know, Joanne," she says conversationally, "Corliss said something about owing you for not tearing him apart back in the bar.  What was that all about?"

"He made her an offer so she wouldn't kill him, and I guess he's a decent enough guy that he didn't go back on it when he was safe. She attacked him as soon as he was somewhat alone. Said he'd work on getting Joanne medicine, and when Zoshonel told me about it I said I'd help cover te difference if Revan can't quite get all the goods on time." Temrash chimed in after remaining quiet for some time.

"Hrm, that's very nice of you, Temrash," says Myitt, "but it's not going to be easy.  I have an idea of just how much it takes to keep Static Shock up and running, and we just revived our base.  First that, now a hefty debt.  No wonder Reven's been so crabby lately."  She glances at Joanne.  "Is all this true, my fine turelek friend?"

"I do admit that I really don't know how expensive it would be. Actually, I don't think I know exactly what she needs yet. That may or may not have been given to me. I do commend you for stickingwith someone that has such an ailment though, Keshin. Hosts like Joanne are usually abandoned, but you're willing to risk much for her."
