Once Temrash's ship landed, he bounded out, on his way to go speak to Corliss. Salem was torn for a moment- on the one hand, he didn't know which ship was Corliss's, and Salem needed to speak to him. On the other hand, there might still be time to get another quick scan of the portal before it closed. Besides, now that he knew Corliss was still on the planetoid, he should be able to find him. Salem elected not to follow him, but instead to watch as he and Taylis left in different directions.
Salem stepped outside the ship and drew his communicator from his pocket. "Hey, Al," he said into it, "can you do me a favor and fly the ship over my location? I need a scan of Temrash's ship, the sooner the better."
After a few seconds, the reply came back, "Dude, you have the worst timing. How is it you always manage to have stuff for me to do right when I'm at a critical point?"
Salem smiled. He could all but see the smirk on Al's face as he whined. "I'm talented," he said. He could already see the blacker-than-black form of his ship lifting out of its position and hovering towards him. "There's a portal to the shadow realm aboard the ship. I'd like whatever we can get on it. Might as well see what the ship's good for while we're at it."
The ovular spacecraft slowed and finally stopped in the air, about twenty feet directly above Temrash's ship. "You know," Al's voice came back, "from what you've told me of this Temrash guy, he wouldn't appreciate you scrutinizing his ship like this."
Salem laughed, "Hey, what he doesn't know won't kill me. I'll be in the bar." With that, he turned and strode to the front door of the bar.
There, in the doorway, was someone he didn't know with their weapon drawn, and... something else. A being he didn't recognize, wearing some sort of protective garment.
He sighed and glanced around. This place never could seem to calm down.
