<I need an Andalite medic to check my vitals,> Efaen says tersely. <I may be tired, but this sort of lethargy is not unlike that following a lengthy illness. I cannot afford to be ill. Not now.> She sidesteps over to one of the nearest trees, leaning upper body against it for support. Closing her main eyes again she continues to address Corliss.

<You are here to ensure that I return to Terenia,> Efaen guesses. <She is not of much use as a potential mate if she is hostless, considering that Yeerk copulation results in death. Therefore she is worthless to you without me,> her main eyes open to half mast as she considers Corliss' human form. <You claim that my decision is in fact my own, but if that were the case you would not be here to begin with. What will you do with her if I refuse? Carry her around in your plastic container? Ship her off to some supposed rebel pool while you continue your duties? Surely you can see that there is no possible future for the two of you.>

As Terenia becomes more comfortable with the Hork-Bajir morph she lengthens her stride, moving quickly in the same direction as Temrash. She does not speak to the Yeerk, and her yellow eyes are focused straight ahead.

Eventually Temrash made it to the lake, and noticed Tamora's grave. He looked at it for a few moments, wondering what it was. "I don't uppose this is where Ossanlin buried your sister?" He asked. He looked around some more. "I believe someone has come by here as well as Efaen."

"You're right about that," Elayne murmurs in response to Mar's comment about how people act strangely at the Bar. She hasn't seemed to be able to make or hold on to a decision since she arrived, and the thought is distressing. Then again, she thinks it may have more to do with Mar than the strange planetoid. Had he not approached them when she had, she might be attempting to reconcile her existence in another timeline with Trey by now.

"I guess it'd all be interesting, if we were bugs under a microscope," she smirks to him, "but it can be frustrating to experience it firsthand. Do you think we were selected by this place? Sometimes you seem to talk about it as if it's sentient."

Illim gives an uncomfortable shrug, still speaking quietly into his device, now wishing he had a drink to hide it behind. "I don't know who she is, she just looks like an Imperial is all. If you weren't expecting one, then I guess she's the genuine article." He sighs and murmurs, "Look, Myitt, I'll keep everything nice and secret for you. I'll find myself a less problematic host and give you a ring as soon as I can. Alright?"

<<I wish you would not speak of me in such a manner,>> Serid grumbles as he keeps trying to turn his eyes towards Keshin, but finding himself overruled by Illim who is focused on the tiny image of the Yeerk rebel on the comm device's holoscreen.

Terenia comes to an abrupt stop when Temrash gestures to the grave. She had been so distracted with finding Efaen that she had lost track of exactly where she was going. A sudden rush of guilt and pain broils inside of her, so acute that it is almost a physical blow.

Then, just as quickly as it came, the pain passes; not gone, but shut away for the time being. She begins walking again, pushing past Temrash and continuing in the general direction he had been heading.

"Come on," she says in her gruff Hork-Bajir voice.

Temrash followed behind Terenia. They were close, and he could begin to hear voices. "Alright, she's nearby. Don't do anything rash."

As he walked up, he saw Corliss talking to her. He decided to just wait to see what they were saying before making himself known. "Let's remain here and listen to their conversation." Though chances were Efaen would notice the entrace of two Hork-Bajir controllers. if she didn't, then she was likely in bad shape.

Dara felt genuinely sorry for Terenia. He knew what guilt felt like. However the guilt sometimes felt was not his fault. He had been a Controller then.

Keshin sips her drink tiredly, trying to drown out the world. This seems like the right place to do it. Weird bartenders who write little notes rather than make you pay, really lousy decoration, questionable service...at least she has her drink. This place really is in the absolute middle of nowhere. I'm not even sure how I knew how to get here. I mean, the odds of someone from my work showing up in this place are about a hundred to one. . Keshin looks up, ready to order the next drink even though she's only downed half of the first one. Which is about when she noticed something that seems to exist for the sake of challenging her assertion.

Over her head is what appears to be someone speaking into a commlink. Yeerk-made, if she had to guess. He's trying to be extremely quiet about it, which only heightens her suspicion. This guy, whoever he is, doesn't want to be in a public Bar saying whatever he's saying. Out of sheer curiosity (and possibly boredom), Keshin sits up and wanders over to him.

"Hey," she states, hand on her hip. "What're you doing over here all by yourself? Then again, this is the kind of place for that."
***************************************************************************************************************
Mar closes his eyes, trying once again to get a feel for the Bar itself. He's honestly not sure whether the Bar itself is sentient or whether it's just a weird extension of the bartender. The place's vagueness is almost distressing. But it does..."Well...the Bar does have an aura. And it's an aura not too terribly far off from my own. It wouldn't be a stretch to say this place is plotting against us. As for selection..."

Mar shrugs. "...it seems to hunt out souls with some sort of problem. No one on this entire asteroid has led a carefree life. I'm not sure it looked for us specifically so much as it just hunted out anyone that matched what it required. At least, that is my best guess."

"What? I...you can't possibly mean...don't be ridiculous," Corliss stammers, his ears burning from embarrassment, then irritation.  "What makes you think the only reason I care about Terenia is because of you?"  He sneers, pressing a hand against Mike's chest.  "He might feel some biological pull toward your human morph, but if anything, I'm less attracted to Terenia when she's within you, simply because you're present."  He paces.  "And to be quite honest, it's such a bloody relief to be free from the complexities of human physical attraction.  Obviously you know nothing about the emotions of my people, but that's to be expected if you think we're all vile slugs."

---

Myitt nods quickly.  "Fine, contact me when you've managed to secure a host, on good terms," she says hastily.  She's about to sign off when a glimpse of someone approaching Illim makes her start with alarm.

She waves the holoscreen and the connection closed with a sweaty palm, but not before the two-way video feed would have let both sides get a good look at each other.

"Keshin," Myitt breathes, swiveling the chair to stare bleakly at Tora.  "For some reason that fool has decided to return.  We shouldn't linger here."  Without even noticing it she starts itching nervously at her arms.

Illim gives an internal curse that only Serid can hear as the Imperial directly approaches him. Illim ends the call with Myitt as discreetly as he can, and the holoscreen fades out, but not before he's afraid Keshin could have seen. Despite his nerves, he gives the Imperial a casual nod and says, "Hello."

<<I guess my new ruse begins now,>> he tells Serid, who is tersely watching the scenario unfold.

The Andalite responds with a matter-of-fact <<I tried to tell you this Imperial was worth watching.>>

<<Well then, bully for you. If we live long enough, I'll give you a prize,>> Illim mutters.

"I am trying to find myself a new host," he tells Keshin, fudging the truth as he adds: "Mine's ill, though you wouldn't know it to look at him."

Tora compresses her lips as the call is shut off, turning her gaze on her friend. "Let's leave. Illim will contact us when we can. We're only in danger if we stay."

She glances to the blank holoscreen again and murmurs, "Should we warn Corliss?"

Elayne snorts. "No one here has led a carefree life, no, but show me thirty creatures across the galaxy who have. I think that, if you live long enough, you see troubles. And sometimes it doesn't even take years to find them."

Then she purses her lips, considering Mar thoughtfully. "But it does make you wonder why we're all here. I mean, what purpose could this place have with such a mismatched group?"

"Yeah, I guess we should give him a heads up," Myitt says weakly, itching her lower left arm through the jacket sleeve and the old bandages.  "Better that we're all far away from this place until things cool down a bit."

Tara barks an internal laugh.  <Like that's ever going to happen,> she drolls.

Myitt digs into her jacket pocket and presses her comm link between her thumb and forefinger.

"Corliss," she tells the floating holoscreen that pops up in reply, "we're leaving, Keshin's here, and you should leave, too."

---

Corliss, still glaring at Efaen, glances briefly at the beeping at his uniform belt before narrowing his eyes at Efaen again.

"Am I allowed to answer?" he asks, feigning politeness.

<Very well,> Efaen sneers, keeping a close watch on him. She isn't entirely sure that she could stop him anyways. Her head is still spinning in that obnoxious way, and though she feels a bit stronger it is still a struggle to stand upright.

"Like hell I'm going to sit here and wait," Terenia snaps. "What if she runs off again?"

Terenia pushes past Temrash and jumps straight up into the air, grabbing the nearest low branch with one deft Hork-Bajir hand. Swinging herself around the branch with only slight clumsiness she lands, talons first, on the top of the branch. It shudders momentarily before holding firm.

"Coming?" she hisses mockingly down to where Temrash is. Without waiting for an answer she leaps into the next tree, then the next, always moving closer to Efaen and Corliss. She is careful to stick close to the trunks, where her large body is hardest to see and will shake the branches the least.

Morgan watched the pair leave. He wasn't very sentimental himself about this sort of thing. In his line of work there were meetings and partings all the time. Sometimes in less than favorable circumstances.

Truth be told, he wasn't sure he was very sorry to see Fredrick go. True, he had admitted that none of the goings on had really been his fault, but he was still the source of much of Morgan's troubles the past few days and why he couldn't quite manage to stand on his own two feet quite yet.

As Morgan watched the lights leave atmo, he couldn't help but give a little wistful sigh.

"I miss the black," he muttered to himself, "maybe I've been planet-side a little too long."

He stumbled outside. How long had it been?

Vissi Ya-Wiq walked up to someone and said, "Excuuuuuuuse me....but I'd been a-drinken' for a bit o' time, and I was winderin': How long 's I been out???"

He fell forward and caught the tree in front of me...had he really just...?

Yes...He'd been talking to a tree.

Keshin glances over the new guy in interest. Evidently he's a Yeerk too, which is what she had guessed. He's right in that his host doesn't look ill, but then again neither does hers. Most of the time. Regular purchases of medicine have significantly lessened her problems, although she knows that it's only a matter of time.

Keshin shrugs slightly at his assertion. "That's a common problem. If you're incredibly desperate, I could probably get you help for help in return. A Bar like this is a rather dangerous place to discuss such business deals."
*****************************************************************************************************
"I've thought about that myself," mutters Mar as he walks forward. They're coming up closer to the Bar now. "A group with such wildly varying intentions only invites conflict. My guess is that this is what the Bar or its bartender seeks. I can't imagine why, though."

Mar chuckles nastily. "Perhaps such an entity enjoys the pain of others. Rather like myself under normal circumstances."

"Dunno if I qualify as 'incredibly desperate' yet," Illim laughs, "but I'm open to discussion."

To Serid he asks, <<Any thoughts on what an Imperial might need help with?>>

Serid snorts. <<It seems you still believe your host to have a little value. Perhaps I will exert the effort to formulate a hypothesis.>>

It's all Illim can do to keep from rolling his eyes. Instead, he pockets his comm link and slings his elbow over the back of his chair with deliberate nonchalance. As if an Imperial who is in possession of a stolen ship... who has a face on the Council's wanted list... who has been chatting indiscreetly with a known rebel... is totally normal. Right.

"Lucky I found the nice version of you, then," Elayne smirks, watching Mar a moment before turning her attention back on the building ahead. "Really, what are the odds? The more I think about it, the more I can't help but imagine something sinister is going on." She grins. "But I'll probably give myself nightmares, thinking like that. Best to think about the beer and burger waiting for me up ahead."
