"Well..." Rayker said. "That's impressive. It sounds like you've got quite a story there. I hate to dash, but perhaps we should go see who's lookin' for us. Sorry to interrupt." Rayker turned and headed back the other way. He looked over his shoulder and gave a short wave before beginning to jog.
----------------------------------------
"Well, we'll come help you out sooner rather than later. We've just got something we need to do right now. See you in a minute, Captain." Jackson began jogging in the opposite direction. He saw Rayker and Lennan coming towards him. When they meet, he simply grabs Rayker by the arm and says, "You're coming with me."
"Wait, what are you up to, Jackson?"
"Just trust me, 'k?" Jackson pulls him into the bar, and sits him at the table. "Deal him in." Rayker begins to speak, but Jackson says, "It's Texas Hold 'em. Here're some chips, and try not to lose." Rayker looks at him, completely lost. What is up with him? he thinks, very confused. "I wouldn't plan on it...." he says, still trying to figure out what's going on.
-------------------------------------------
"Wow...." Charlie says. "What I would give to see that. There were maybe 100,000 people on Earth when I came from. And I could count all the trees I ever saw there... at least the living ones. I'd actually been to Paris once, what was left of it, that is. Others had already been there, though, so there wasn't much left for us." Carson put a hand on her shoulder. That was a sore subject for Charlie. Perhaps they hadn't all been as interested in knowing as they'd thought.
"I'm sure I'd enjoy learning about your records of Earth. You wouldn't happen to have any history of any other Earth Timelines, would you? It's really interesting learning how history changes so drastically when you make one edit here or there. From what I hear, I should be really glad that that new German leader guy choked to death when he did. Who was that again?"
"I think you were referring to Hitler, Carson. The only person in any history that I know of who could shake a stick at Desmond...." Antonio answers. Before that conversation could continue, Jackson, Rayker, and Lennan returned, and Jackson had them dealt in. No one in the Beta Squad was sure what to say to Rayker, who they'd left lost in thought beside Desmond's half-grave. So none of them said anything.
