I personally didn't give much thought to the romances in Animorphs. I mean, I loved Jake/Cassie to death, sure. And Tobias/Rachel was cute. But I never really went passed the books. I didn't search fanfictions or fanart like I normally do with other fandoms I follow. So, just a few days ago, I decided to just go searching for fanart and music videos and junk and I was surprised to find videos for Tobias/Cassie and fanart for Marco/Rachel. I didn't think about the couples so much so I never really thought about how the characters would turn out if they weren't with who they were. I mean, imagine if Jake and Rachel never really cared about the fact they were cousins?

After all, Jake has explained Rachel to be his beautiful cousin in almost every narrative of his but the only reason he never saw her that way was just that - because they were related. And in book # 32, where Rachel was split in two in the Starfish morph and had separated in to two. The "nice" Rachel said "Jake was there. He's my cousin. He's cute. Kind of big. I mean, if we weren't cousins . . ."

In MM4, Rachel thought about dating Marco (correct me if I'm wrong) and well, some people support Ax/Cassie because she helped comfort him when his heart was broken by the female Andalite (whose name I can't remember right now XD) And Tobias/Cassie is supported because I think a lot of people see how similar the two are, just like how similar Rachel and Jake can be?

So yeah, what do you think? Do you think about different couples? And how do you think the characters would have turned out if they had someone else to lean on instead of the person they did have?

Honestly, I'd have to say that my alternate pairing would have to be Ax/Jake.
And I think Rachel and Marco would make a cute pairing, if Tobias wasn't there.
And the Andalite chick is Estrid.

Estrid/Marco/Ax for a love triangle. Estrid being in love with Marco, and Ax being in love with Estrid.

Marco and Rachel would work pretty well.

Jake and Cassie worked really well, until Jake stopped listening to her as much. Then she broke up with him. After betraying him.

Tobias and Mellissa.

Maybe Rachel and Ax.

haha um...no.
Marco/Rachel is something I thought could happen...but Cassie with anyone else wouldn't be right.

That would be a strange relationship. I don't understand what's going on there, besides that Taylor is pretty and looks a little like Rachel.

Any paring with Ax would be interesting but it begs the question of how? the sheer mechanics of it are mind boggling (lol reference) Andalites don't ingest solid food just the nutriants right? so they have no waste removal organs ie no orifices.

They have bathrooms, so something gets digested and comes out. I'm sure morphing would come into play, since elfangor morphed Human and Aldrea morphed Hork-Bajir.

What? Has no one ever thought about the Ax/Jake pairing?! I mean, it's fairly obvious, at least on the part of Ax. Take Cassie out of the mix, and come on. Whose he gonna go for, if we're talking slash? Marco?
Plus, Ax is totally in love with him, even when Cassie is there.

Probably but then again endocrine and reproductive dont have to be part of the same system anyway yeah i was always kinda sad that Ax never got in a relationship after Estrid and its admiration and respect not love I think

I'm leery about gay couples, so no. I never thought of an Ax/Jake pairing. I hate it when fans start making obviously straight people gay.

I get that you'd be leery of gay couples, that's fine.
However, I never thought of Ax as being "obviously straight". And, like I said, I only really see it in the series from Ax's point of view, imho. But if I had to chose an alternate pairing, that would be it.
Also, I've been slashing for years, so I know when someone's obviously straight and when someone could be easily said not to be.
