I actually understand the Ax/Jake thing XD I mean, from Ax's perspective. He obviously had a lot of respect for Jake and they had a playful kinda relationship (ignoring when their friendship sorta weakened towards the end)

My favorite pairings are Marco/Rachel and Tobias/Taylor (umm, yeah).

Rachel/Ax and Cassie/Ax would be awesome. xD

The thread title led me to imagine Animorph couples spicing up their love lives by morphing different species, or different humans, even reversing their genders!

The Animorphs were children, but they mostly morphed ADULT animals, which would be sexually mature.  I would expect that the sexual maturity of the animal morphs might cause the Animorphs problems.  The Animorphs sometimes have trouble controlling the instincts of the animal morphs, so they might have trouble controlling those animals' sex drives.

On the other hand, perhaps Jake could morph a male wolf, Cassie could morph a female wolf, and they could go off to the woods.....:)

The Experiment: Tobia and Ax had trouble controlling the competativeness of the bulls they morphed.  I got the impression that this competativeness was at least partially sex drive based.

Personally, I've always liked the idea of Marco and Rachel. Tobias/Rachel is a great couple, don't get me wrong (and, without spoiling anything, had a really emotional payoff near the end), but I'm kind of in the camp that thinks that Marco and Rachel might have been a thing had the war with the Yeerks never happened. Megamorphs 4 helps a lot with that theory.
