Hello hello! I was pointed in this direction by a friend!
Animorphs was my main obsession as a child. I think I was about 8 or 9 years old when I first picked up Animorphs, and it all spiraled out of control from there! I had seen the books around, but I was dissuaded by the lack of pictures (I know, I know) until my twin sister picked up book #3 in class one day and told me all about the plot. It wasn't long afterwards that I picked up my first Animorphs book (#34 - I read them largely out of order, oops) and I was hooked.
We didn't know anyone else who loved Animorphs like we did, but we didn't let it bother us. My sister and I let the obsession drive us; we wrote crappy self-insertion fics (that we only ever shared with each other), we'd RP all the time, sometimes with visual aids made out of clay or pipecleaners (play dough and pipecleaner andalites were a thing), we drew the alien species all the time (we even had what we called a "friendly taxxon" OC - we made a sculpture of him.) There were even some hork bajir-based fakemon we designed... kind of cringy, looking back on it.
We had some of the toys and one of the video games (the GBC one, good and frustrating times.)
It was tricky to find the books in Mexico City, where I grew up, but every now and then we'd have a scholastic book fair come through my school, and they always stocked some Animorphs books! Occasionally, when we'd go to New York to visit family, my sister and I would raid the local Borders and Barnes & Noble shelves for more. Our collection was only missing five books...
Anyways! Thanks for reading my ramble, and I am so thrilled to be here!
Bonus hork bajir doodle!
