<All right. Give me a second,> I said.

I detached myself from his brain. Immediately, I was blind and deaf again. A feeling of vulnerabilty crept over me. It was a feeling the Yeerk didn't like at all. I mentally shuddered as I wriggled through his ear canal. They are the enemy, I reminded myself. Eventually, I felt a slight change in temperature, and then, a falling sensation and a mild impact. Good. I was out.

Demorphing was a disgusting process, because this time, my eyes grew first. The world around me quickly shrunk back to normal size. I could feel my insides churning, my heart beginning to pump again. The bottom half of my body split in two while a pair of arms grew from the side of my body. Thick, gray-green flesh melted away and became soft and human. Hairs sprouted from over my body. Bones that had completely disappeared reformed and shifted inside of me. At long last, my mouth appeared, a slit in my face that grew larger and expanded inward. I suddenly felt my stomach heave. A thick, dark mucous began to pour from my mouth. I stood and shuddered in disgust. The morph was complete.

"Never morph into a Yeerk," I told Edward.

<Where...you?>

<Guys, I'm going to head for the nearest major exit. Follow the smell of wildflowers, if you can find it. It opens on a big field. If not, head for the closest exit to you, and I'll find YOU.>

Montana:

The wolf had just changed int o a human when a little bug looking thing droped out of his ear. As it fell it be gan to change too, it swelled up into a young lady in her mid to late teens.

"Never morph into a Yeerk," she said to the wolf turned man (or boy(OCC: I cant remember how old he is)).

"I hav a question," he butted in, "Whats a Yeerk?"

(Gernight, Este.)

<Guys...... to head......... or...... exit. Foll...... sme......... wild... owers... f you..... find it. It open..... ield. If not, head.... closes.... ex.... you, and.... YOU.>

I didn't understand a word she had said. We were too far away.

"I have a question," the man suddenly asked. "What's a Yeerk?" I sighed heavily, shaking my head.

"What I was five minutes ago. I can't explain right now. Let's just say I hope you never have one in your head. Edward, did you catch a word of what Ais said?"

"No clue." I said, "but I remember her scent." I morphed back into wolf. I seem to be using this morph fairly often I thought, as the transformation completed, and I sniffed around, trying to catch her scent, either human or house-cat. <The freshest one is this direction.> I said, starting to move.

(Night.)

"You, follow us," I told the man, eyeing him suspiciously. I followed behind Edward as he led the way through the dark and narrow tunnels. It was too dark for me to see whether he actually followed, but I had a feeling he did.

(Good night, everyone.)

I walked for what seemed like hours, hearing the man behind me constantly stopping. I didn't turn around to ask what he was doing or why. If he ran, we would catch him. By now, my legs were tired and sore, and my thoughts were fogged by confusion and fatigue. I wanted nothing more than to lie down and sleep for a year while the rest of the world carried on with its usual, daily activities.

I knew we had come to the exit of the tunnel system when I noticed a faint light just around the nearest corner. As we walked, the space between us and the surrounding walls broadened. Finally, we exited the cave and entered a vast, open field.

As I was sniffing around, I found Ais' scent... something about her didn't seem quite right, though.. like something happened.

I shrugged it off, and continued following her scent, but a far-away, very familiar scent also caught my mind. I attempted to thoughtspeak to Ais and Leah, hoping that Ais can hear.

<Yo, Guys? I hope you know how to fight a large group of animals, because I smelled my old pack...>

I glanced around. Nothing. The world was still and silent. Perhaps we had come the wrong way.

<Yo, Guys? I hope you know how to fight a large group of animals, because I smelled my old pack...,> Edward said in thought-speak, sounding rather nervous.

"What? What do you mean?" I asked.

<I wasn't the only Controller with a wolf morph... there was a large pack of us... around, like, 25-30 members at one point. We were the group that randomly selected hosts... we were the ones that "picked" Alistair.> I said, shuddering a bit. <And from what I can smell, they're far away, but they're coming. We need to find Ais.> I said, not realizing that while saying this, I was public thoughtspeaking.

(what a way to let Ais in, huh? :P)

After what the Voice had told me, Edwards words weren't terribly surprising, but I refused to let myself put any blame on him personally. The slug was the one that took my twin, not the man.

<I'm over here, guys.> I jumped high above the tall grass and flowers, making myself visible.

I saw Ais leap out from the grass. <Hey!> I said, and walked towards her. <I think we should make our way somewhere else... these caves aren't safe anymore, now that the vast majority of Vissers - including my "pack" - know about it. Do you have another place we could go? Or possibly another location?>

<Nobody knows these tunnels like I do, but I also know some places in the woods that we could probably use. Above all, we have to keep them from driving us into the cities. Among other humans, we can't know who to trust. Maybe we should all go bird and check things out from above?>

<Bird morph would be a good idea, but as for your point about cities... I mean, should we leave California? They know me too well here... all my hangouts, both my house AND my mothers, the place I work... and through Alistair, they'll know your locations as well. And as far as I know, Leah (making my thoughts public now) Leah, you don't have any place, right?> I said, and morphed back as quickly as possible. "As far as I can see, we're in trouble with locations. And are you alright? Your scent indicated something happened.>
