The 'morphs should be the new name for it.

Speaking of pigeons... I had this conversation with my friend one day:

Me (on Seagulls): They're the rats of the sky.
My friend: I though that was pigeons.
Me: Seagulls, pigeons, what's the difference?

pigeons. THOSE things. forget the weird letters i add; my brain isn't... like... functioning well today.

O____o

but i never actually see pigeons in the sky. they're always perched and pooping, or on the ground, where i'm trying to step. but it doesn't sound nearly as acerbic to call them "the rats of the sidewalk".

Speaking of bird-rats... I wonder what Tobias' opinion of starlings would be. Apparently some weirdo decided that every bird mentioned in Shakespeare ought to be found in America, so he introduced starlings. We started with 100, now it's in the millions.

Whenever I see those big swarms of them, I think of an angry mob.

i'm thinking tobias might have 'lunch' run through his mind at least once...

we have starlings where i live... but i never see 'mobs'. we have enough sparrows to choke a cat, though. the best part is when they all congregate in one tree or one bush... it sounds like a bird rock concert; the decibel level is obscene.

...that would decrease the surplus population of starlings.

D: Eww. How dare you. Boo Dickens.

From what I've read, what Tobias says about hawks who eat roadkill--that for whatever reason, they eat it because they can't hunt--is true. Hawks, falcons, eagles and owls are not scavengers. They don't have the sort of digestive system vultures have to eat rotting flesh. Relatively recent roadkill, or stealing kills from other animals, especially, yes.

Umm, OK. 6 inch long slugs everywhere... I would have been in heaven there as a little kid.

I remember when I first picked up The Invasion, I could not determine Jake's gender. This was before I read the back, obviously. It was so weird.

You didn't say anything about reading the book itself. :P Just the back.
One could assume you read the back before you start the book.
