confusion with the Visser's
« on: April 10, 2009, 06:21:15 AM »
the council of thirteen or whatever they are like the leaders of the yeerks, are they all Vissers?

if they are or not wouldnt you want the most powerful one - Visser one - to be in a more powerful host body

im just saying having your leader in a human when there is much more powerful bodies around

in the book where i cant remember who but someone morphs snake and bights visser three the yeerk escapes

but then clearly re-enters into the andalite body,

so wouldnt it make more sence to form a swap, put the Visser one yeerk in visser three host and put visser three in visser one body

like the Animorphs dont go in fighting in human form they go into something powerful

so if the yeerks are in a war wouldnt you want the leader to be powerful????

and is there ever a mention of any other Visser's besides 1 and 3?

thats all

The Council are not Vissers, they are above the rank of Visser. That's why they can tell Visser 1 what to do. Visser 1 kept a human host because she preferred it to the others available.

And we do here of other Vissers. Visser 2 is in book 46 and Visser 4 is in Megamorphs 3.

There's also a Visser mentioned being in control of the battle for Leera . . . I think it was Visser 4.

Also Visser 3 went from a high Sub-Visser to a rather low Visser and was allowed to keep his Andalite body because he was the one who captured it, I guess with the Yeerks you keep what you capture, it was his initiative and skill that got the body, so it was his right to keep it. Likewise if the Yeerk from book 6 had showed up with Jake he implies he would have been allowed to keep Jake as his host instead of moving into the governor.

On the other hand Iniss/Chapman mentions how he wishes the council would forcibly take the Andalite body from Visser 3, so it's possible that Visser 3 could have had his host taken away if he screwed up too much, but I think in the eyes of the council he did well enough that it never happened.

It's a rank, like General/Commodore, with Sub-Visser being the subordinate rank, Colonel/Captain, Taylor for example, was a Sub-Visser and I'd highly suspect the Yeerk that had Tom in the end was similarly a Sub-Visser. Other than that the number designation at the end of a yeerk's name seems to be their rank so a low number like Iniss 226 is probably considered something like a lieutenant . . . a lowbie Yeerk like Ssini 622, would be cannon fodder.

The number behind the name just means the when you were born in a certain pool. It was retconned after book six. So Visser Three to the 1996th yeerk born in his pool.

I don't know if Tom's Yeerk was ever made sub-visser. I think I remember him yelling at Jake that he should be a sub-visser by then.

I kind of agree, and I remember being kind of surprised in Visser when Edriss described the hosts of the Council--from what I remember, it was a bunch of Hork-Bajir, Gedds, and well-fed Taxxons. I don't even know why someone ranked that high would bother with a Taxxon host. I thought that was kind of strange. And for the amount of times Visser Three screwed up, I agree that his host should have been taken away. It's cool that he captured the galaxy's only Andalite-Controller, but is that, in itself, enough to get him sixteen places from the top? I don't know. He was kind of an incompetent villain who could have done well with a glance or two at the Evil Overlord list.
I go off topic on purpose.

The thing is, even before he took an Andalite host, he was their expert on Andalites. With Alloran as a host, he became even more-so.

visser one wanted a human host. in book 5 she argues with visser 3 about it.

I think the Vissers have the bodies they want, they choose their body... And try, just try, to remove Visser 3 from his Andalite body and put him in a Human body... he wouldn't like that ^^' and he doesn't need an Andalite body to be dangerous (he's just more dangerous with)...

Visser 1:
Name: Edriss-562.
Host: A female human-Controller; Infested Marco's mother, the woman named Eva.
Status: terminated.

  • * Rose to the highest rank after finding a Class 5 species (humans), in a daringly ambitious exploration. Has a secret some-what-addiction to this very same species.
    * Designed an infiltration campaign to the Yeerk Invasion on Earth through the creation of The Sharing; For unstated reasons, this designed invasion was handed to Visser Three.
    * Designed a shark-shook-troop plan to aid Visser 4 in the Leera campaign. Failed before application.
    * Was issued a Gashad; sought after to be executed on sight, for suspicion of betrayal.
    * Was put on trial against, and along with, her rival, Visser Three. Where she ended assigned to the Anati System, on a secure and conquer mission. Unknown what conspired since this point and the next, where she is seen back on Earth; sporting torture wounds and undergoing the final stages of Kandrona starvation directly above the Yeerk pool.
    * She is lastly killed by Marco.

Visser 2:
Name: unknown.
Host: A male human-Controller whose host is a lieutenant of high USA military authority.
Status: unconfirmed.

  • * War expert on tactic and orchestration. And apparently also at concealing himself, for we only hear of him, and he only appeared, towards the end of the series.
    * Failed his WW3 Project and has gone back into disappearance again.

Visser 3 aka The Abomination:
Name: Esplin-9466+.
Host: Infested the Andalite War Prince Alloran-Semitur-Corass.
Status: imprisoned.

  • * Perhaps the most bloodthirsty, openly evil and cruel of the Yeerk Vissers. Heads rolled if anything contrariated him. Set about the galaxy acquiring monstrous animal species. His one true dream, to take the Andalite Homeworld.
    * Was handed over control of the Yeerk Infiltration campaign on Earth.
    * Successfully exterminated a major Andalite offense on planet Earth's orbit.
    * Murdered Prince Elfangor on the surface;
    * Failed a series of projects in the order of acquisition of the human race and planet Earth.

Visser 4:
Name: unknown.
Host: Infested one John Berryman.
Status: unknown.

  • * Was in charge of the Leera invasion campaign. Lost.
    * Later on Earth, he somehow uncovered the Time Matrix and set about meddling with history, in order to make the future invasion easier for the Yeerks.
    * With the Time Matrix in the Animorphs possession, he got written out of history, virtually never existing. And thus this specific Yeerk under the rank of Visser Four would presumably be within another host someplacelse right now.

Visser 5:
  • WASN'T THERE A MENTION OF VISSER 5 SOMEWHERE?!?!?!?!?!?

I don't remember a Visser Five. I also don't remember much of Eva's rescue. Like, how did the Animorphs know she was there? Or did they just run into her? Did they just see her in the pool, running around with torture wounds, and Marco grabbed her? I don't remember. And what book was that in?

It was The Revelation. And yeah, it was such an important book, why was it one of the 'thinnest' ones. Almost as if the Ghostwriter just went through the motion.
After revealing everything to Marco's dad and getting his collaboration, they create a transponder device that was able to tap into Yeerk communication; thus they learn of Visser One's kandrona starvation and were able to lure a bug fighter crew to infiltrate the Yeerk pool. They found an agonizing Visser One in a peer (already beaten and bruised) and being made an example of by starving her directly above the Kandrona source. After a battle, which involved Visser Three's elite blue-band guards and Ax doing stunts in a bugfighter, Marco was able to finally free his mum and squish the life out of the evil slug.
I literally clapped at that moment! But it just felt, somewhat, dunno... rushed. Even that scene at the end where the two parents reunited run towards each others... almost lame.

I gotta a bug behind my ear about this Visser 5 now, though. I swear I've read a reference to a Visser 5 in the series somewhere!!

I remember Eva actually doing the killing. I remember V1 leaving her ear, then Marco trying to carry Eva off, but she struggled against him. Then she grabbed V1, crushed her, and said "Now we can go". But whatever. Minor details.

I kind of thought there would be more to it too, but throughout the series minor characters seem to just be pushed aside to keep the spotlight on the Animorphs. For better or worse.
