I certainly think so. He's shown several times that his own soul means nothing to him. He's got as many moral qualms as Cassie does (and don't get me started on her) but he does what has to be done anyway. Just look at the oatmeal incident in book 17. He's as morally against using chemical warfare as Cassie is, but he also knows that victory comes at any price, even if that price is his own soul.

That description actually reminds me more of Jake...but I guess maybe it could apply to Tobias too.

I dunno, Jake always seemed the most selfless to me.

i felt that tobias had some sort of selfishness to him because he never really got what he wanted out of life.

Then again, he did have a pretty messed up life. There's plenty of people (including myself) that have suffered nowhere near as much, and still have that so called selfish trait. Then again, who on this planet isn't at least a little selfish? It's just some people are more so than others, but I think on same basic level we're all a little on the selfish side at times. It's normal I think. Just being TOO selfish is not good.

im going out on a limb here but tobias wasn't really all that smart given that in the first book, he could have easlily demorphed and posed a controller before morphing and escaping (unless he wanted to be a hawk, which then i would place his intellence higher above everybody else)

it also depends on how much he wants rachel back and what he is willing to do to get it.

In a previous post I put forth the idea that if another book were to be written, not questioning the order in the series or the circumstances of its publication, the book would be a deal with the devil of sorts. What I mean by this is that the book has to give us what we would like, but has something horrible in it. The way I see this happening would be K.A. writing a whole book by David's perspective and bashing all the animorphs. What do you think the price of a new book from a fans perspective is?

MM4: Jake agrees to the Drode's offer to change history so that Jake et al did not become Animorphs!
