I didn't like the removal of 90s references, though. Actually, I should be more specific. I know why they removed the dated references, but I don't consider the removal of those references canon. Canon is still the same old references, but canon is also fixing inconsistencies and errors.

The even better solution would have been to keep Aftran as an ally (with Erek's help making holograms and faking things, and providing Kandrona) instead of sending her off as a whale nothlit.
