Title: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: Bubbles on November 03, 2009, 10:04:46 PM
... in the series, what would you be? (I'm new and I searched and didn't already find this topic, but if it's been done that's cool, delete this lol)

Even though I might as well be a Taxxon cuz I scarf food like one, I'd love to be an Andalite. They're really honorable, kind, fierce fighters (the tail is awesome as well as the morphing power and thought speak stuff)...

and they're hella SEXEH! If you're an Andalite reading this, CALL ME! lol jk  ;D ::)

I'm already a Yeerk...
But if I could, I'd like to be an Andalite: no Yeerk Pool, no Empire, and becoming a Human or another species as you want...

An Andalite would be cool, even without the morphing ability. A Leeran would be cool as well. Howler could be cool, except they are short lived and get erased if they lose a fight.

so...don't lose a fight  ;D

I'd be a Hork-Bajir. (Er... AFTER the war. Or before. When things are all peaceful and stuff) They just have such a simple life, and are awesome.

Or a Pemalite, of course. (Long before the Howler attack, but after they invented the Chee)

Dang! Andalites are popular! I like how the Chee are non violent as well... I wanna project a hologram around myself... like an invisible one. So when I go to work customers will leave me alone LOL

Just to be different, I'm gonna have to say I'd want to be an Arn.

Sure, they always get ridiculed because they're cowards or whatever, but they are immune to Yeerks, and can create basically anything they want out of DNA.  Yeah, I know it's 'wrong,' but who wouldn't want to create their own pet?  I'd make a Compsognathus and cross it with an Andalite and it would be so cute and fuzzy and adorable and badass.  And I would name him Andy.  ^-^

Too bad the Arn are extinct, huh?

 . . . OR ARE THEY?

 . . . Lol, j/k, they are.

As a Yeerk, I wouldn't like to be trapped in one body, I like to change... sometimes...

From teh description of them i always had the feeling that they were cute. XD and yeah Andalites are apparently very popular. hmm don't think i would want to be a Mercora XD  but i think i would want to be a Ketran.  before they got annihilated.  I want to play their games ( which remind me of Spore for some reason )

I'd want to be a re-programmed Chee. The problem with book #10 is that Erek was new to fighting. If they had training and learned to control themselves, gague their strengths and abilities, they would be awesome, and they wouldn't be such death machines.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: Chad32 on November 04, 2009, 08:26:56 PM
yes. He went all out, got traumatized, and begged them to reprogram him. It just went worse than it could have been.

Spartans aren't robots, the only thing metal about them is their exoskeletal suit. Otherwise they're human. Common misconception by the way.

Yeah, reprogramming the Chee before teaching them to control their fighting technique was like putting an 5 year old behind a .50 cal mounted machine gun.

I'm a Yeerk but I think that it would be cool to be a Garatron! They're really fast and I would never again have to worry about being late. Sure, they don't have the awesome tail blades but still... Being a (free) Blue-Band Hork-Bajir would be cool, too.

Wouldn't want to be: a Taxxon (eww), Nesk, or Iskoort.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: Darth Revan on November 05, 2009, 07:41:03 PM
Yeah, Taxxons suck.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: Dameg on November 06, 2009, 07:58:57 AM
Iskoorts don't suck, but their body isn't the best... In fact, it'b be so cool if we could do like the Iskoorts and make our own bodies... But the Council of Thirteen wouldn't listen to us... They wouldn't accept to stop the invasion and begin to think about how to make bodies...

Have to agree with Dameg. I happen to be half dragon myself, but Dragons aren't in the Animorphs universe, so I posted something else.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: VisserZer0 on November 06, 2009, 12:11:24 PM
According to those Andalites, we Yeerks only 'steal from other races' so we probably wouldn't create our own bodies anyway.
Back on topic: I think a Leeran would also be very cool.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: Darth Revan on November 06, 2009, 01:06:56 PM
The Yeerks could've commissioned the Arn to create a body for them.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: VisserZer0 on November 06, 2009, 01:59:53 PM
If the Arn would even listen. I seem to remember that in HBC, it said that the Yeerks used the Arn as target practise since they were un-infestable.  :offtopic:

Oh, so you're allowed to say your piece, then yell at us for being off topic? No, that's not how it works.

I'm just saying instead of killing them off, they could make them create new bodies for them.

Either way, I stick with my previous choice of a trained Chee.

I agree that we made mistakes... (well, I wasn't born when it happened with the Arns...)
And we don't "only steel from other species", we also create... a little... but not enough ^^'

I'd like to be an Andalite for the morphing Power

A Chee cuz they live forever

Pemalite cuz their snoopy ship is awesome!

or an Arn cuz they can create species. I'd have so many pets that could clean after themselves ;D

Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...

Andalite because the advantages would outway the disadvantages.
Iskoort atleast contribute something (as George Gilder said business creates wealth indefinitly to think otherwise is jealousy and stupidity)
The yeerks are truely parasitic in mind as well as in body: contributing nothing, inventing nothing more than torture devices, not a species you would want to be... furthermore it reflects something wicked in us that the yeerks have a sort of glamour about them/it is fashionable to admire/pity them. When unlike their Iskoort cousins they (despite meeting the Arn and therefore having the oppurtunity) they choose instead of peacefully buying  new bodies and participating in peaceful trade, they chose to forcefully seize slaves through blood and empire...
If the Yeerks ever met the Iskoort, the Ellimist supposed that their good example would change the yeerks for the better (effectively making the Iskoort the Ellimist's chosen people) but perhaps the tyrannical statist yeerk empire would react the same way that tyrannical, statist imperialists on earth have reacted to the better example set by free marketed, peaceful moral 'middleman minorities' on earth: by elliminating them to avoid challenge to their tyranny.
I have just finished reading this amazing book by George Gilder, he often uses Thomas Sowell as a source in his discussion of the hostility often directed towards 'middleman minorities' and I am looking for Thomas Sowell on JSTOR but it seems he writes books mostly, I found this article that I haven't read (Not having access to a printer at present) that discusses middlemen minorities...
Sorry for going off topic, but this discussion gave me an amazing idea bunny.

I don't know it is can be just a sentence, a thing, a whole book, a few conversations that inspire you to either write an essay, a short story or even to think more deeply .
Like reading the Jatakas and then imagining different Jataka stories from different planets...
Anyway the conversations on this board, the woobiefication of yeerks generally, the contempt for iskoort and then reading george Gilder's book gave me an idea bunny: a moment or realisation and inspiration.

But, you'd still be Andalite? Despite the bunny?

Well yes, it is better to be a hypocrite with a tendency towards collateral damage but still defender of the free universe, than an evil parasite who destroys civilization and nature.

Andalite would be cool..but i don't get the hooves/eating thing..I'd have to go with Android like Erik.. watching civilisations get built and crumble, see new inventions century after century, spend lifetimes with so many people..it's like reincarnation..cept you dont die..

Actually, that's an interesting point... About the Andalites, I mean...
Makes me wonder exactly how much like the Andalites the Garatrons are... I mean, do they eat with their hooves?

But that's a topic for another thread... In fact... Hmmm...

Except Chee don't have sex and don't experience sexual desire (which is my major argument with stories that Ship Erek with anyone who isn't Chee) it would be like being a Jain, for eternity: non-violence, no sex, looking after animals. In my fanfiction (when I get back to writing it) characters will discover that the Chee are responsible for founding Jainism; and frankly only a species of asexual, non-violent, immortal, excessively animal loving, survivors of planetry destruction could be responsible for a religion that holds that life is a forest full of thieves and we are in a pit with snakes hanging onto a root eating honey, with ants stinging our face, and also there is a tiger... bad way of looking at life.

...life is a forest full of thieves and we are in a pit with snakes hanging onto a root eating honey, with ants stinging our face, and also there is a tiger...

This is by far the most random sentence I've read.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: 2005004219 on November 18, 2009, 08:28:36 AM
yeerks have one ability they never exploited to their fullest, they can gain experience, insights, philosophies of those they infest, They can learn faster look at different point of views of different hosts, gain many insights by infesting different hosts, had they done that the animorphs probably would have been captured, their strategic prowess would increase, they would learn about compassion, freedom, and many human qualities that contrast with the empire's way of thinking and life. Their ability to infest and gain knowledgde plus insights would be useful in defeating the andalites, making creative inventions and other stuff, they could surpass the andalites intellectually.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: adeon222 on November 18, 2009, 12:09:40 PM
The only problem with that is that the more hosts they have, yes, the more knowledge and experience they gain, but also the more mental and emotional baggage they gain... One Yeerk can only have so many hosts before going completely batty, imop...
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...

I think the Yeerks are great at duplication, but not so much with innovation.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: voodooqueen126 on November 19, 2009, 03:32:53 AM
the yeerks are parasites: takers and users of other people, creating nothing themselves.
the random sentence refers to the jain allegory for life in which we are walking through a forest of thieves then chased by a tiger, till we fall down a pit, in which there is a snake, we cling onto a root, to avoid being bitten by the snake, and bees are stinging us as we drink honey from the beehive in the root, and the tiger is above us trying to eat us: moral of allegory: life is full of horror and people who try and cling to pleasure (the honey) are stupid.

Read this short story collection, I am the only reviewer. But I got the thing about the honey (I think) from a book of world religions.

When you read this anthology, (and rate my review please) you will be reminded of the Chee.

A Bievilerd!( A creature from the planet Ondar. It is described as almost being a living stealth bomber, completely jet black, with several large wings and a huge mouth.)
They sound amazing. And I have a thing for stuff with weird names that are impossible to say. Or maybe a Hobber. They sound so cute and cuddly, even though there isn't a description for them in the entire series or chronicles. But if there is tell me. I got the name but not what it looks like. Anyway, back on the alien train. I would defiantly a Karfit. They sound like an Earth raptor, except cooler.

I dont see any reason not to be the Ellimist, the closest thing you can get to being a god.  Who would not want to experience power not bound by the laws of the universe? You can know anything about anyone, anywhere, anyhow,... anything. You could create WHATEVER you want, or vice versa. Nothing could hurt you, not even Crayak, who can merely annoy you and destroy whatever you create or enjoy, but you can always undo it, because time is just another toy for the Ellimist. You could wrap time around your little finger.  I dont think any other alien "race" from the book compares to the Ellimist, how could they?

I wouldn't like to be like him. Always all alone, always thinking about how to save this or that, what will happen if you do that... live forever alone, with only this game (against Crayak) to play. Not be able to die... His life must be very sad.

you could change billions of species lives for the better. Who wouldn't want that job. Also I figure if you wanted a friend you could make one iff you wanted to.
Title: Re: If you could be any of the aliens...
Post by: DinosaurNothlit on December 03, 2009, 05:03:43 PM
Nah, I'm with Dameg.  I always felt sorry for the Ellimist.

If you try and make a friend, they'll eventually die.  In the blink of an eye, in fact, since millions of years is nothing to the Ellimist.  The guy is alone.  As completely alone as it is possible to be.

And he couldn't make an immortal friend, either, I think, because that would almost certainly break the rules of Crayak's game.  And if their game is ever lost, they would be forced to go back to fighting for the universe again, destroying it in the process.  Either that or start a new game, possibly even a worse one.

For the same reason, the Ellimist can't just go around and help everyone that he sees fit.  He is bound by the rules of the game.

It might be fun, for a while.  Yeah, you would be basically all-powerful.  But then you might start to get attached to the races you were trying to help, because you have nothing else, and then one after the other they would each die (no species lives forever), and there'd be nothing you could do about it.  I'd go insane from that.  I think anybody would.

Dino got it. He can't even make a friend, and I think he doesn't want... How can you give this life to somebody else when you know how it's terrible? And a friend today, maybe an enemy tomorrow...
Imagine you're the only Human on Earth. No animal except insects. You see the bees, the ants, the spiders around you, you try to help them, you can even talk with them if you want, but they die after few days.
We are the ants he's trying to help...

Dino got it. He can't even make a friend, and I think he doesn't want...

I don't know if that exactly matters. If anyone remembers from the Ellimist Chronicles, he is actually a sort of multitude - composed of all the individuals formerly controlled by father. Still, the fact that one can never meet new people, especially ones that aren't inside your mind, seems quite disheartening.

To the topic, as long as I was morph-capable, I wouldn't mind any of the major races aside from Taxxon or Yeerk, but I would prefer Andalite or Ketran.

Not enough people are saying Hork-Bajir! C'mon! Aren't they the coolest aliens ever? I would totally want to be a Hork-Bajir. They've got blades on their arms, legs, head, and tail, and they climb trees and eat bark.

Without question, my most favorite extraterrestrial alien in any work of fiction ever is the Hork-Bajir.

They have a genetically repressed IQ. How you choose to define it is up to you. I know what they are. If "simple" is a more acceptable term for you then fine. Personally, I find "simple" to be more offensive, but that's just me. Everyone has different ways of defining others' traits.

It's not about which species you would morph, it's about which you would become, completely. You gotta take the bad with the good. It'd be extremely improbable that you'd end up being a seer, as they show up ever 10,000 births, or something to that effect. Your intelligence would indeed become repressed.
