Yeerks And Very Small Morphs
« on: October 21, 2013, 10:40:48 PM »
What happens if a Yeerk controlled being morphs something that is much smaller than the Yeerk?  Does the Yeerk get crushed by its shrinking host?  Or does it get kicked out of its shrinking host?

I'm certain that the Andalites would have made no provisions for the safety of Yeerks in morphing beings, since the never intended for Yeerks to acquire the ability to morphd

The general idea is that the Yeerk goes into Z-Space, and controls the host from there. It explains how Visser Three can control Alorran in a morph with multiple heads, or morph something with a huge head and brain like the morph he used to eat Elfangor. Otherwise how could he stretch out far enough over a huge brain, or how could he stop Alorran from biting the head off that v3 is in and regain his freedom?

I think if the Yeerk is controlling the morph, it will morph properly. Its probably similar to morphing clothes: if the morpher wants to incorporate clothing into the morph and concentrates on it, it will happen.
Also in book 15, when one of the Animorphs gets a chip implanted in them as a shark, then morphed to fly, the chip didn't shrink. This could be because they didn't realise it was there and didn't incorporate it into the morph.

The Animorphs and Ax can only morph skin-tight clothing!  How could a Yerk morph a body that's much larger then it is if its treating the body as clothing?

I think the yeerk will just morph with the host, just as all the other bacteria etc inside you, like the ones responsable for digestion etc.

I have to point out that the Yeerk, while larger than a computer chip, is wrapped around the brain in paper-thin layers. These layers add up to a volume far less than a one-piece Spandex suit or the like.

The only reason the chip didn't morph is because it couldn't conform or bend as tissue shrank and dissipated into Z-space. That is the only consistent explanation.

I think the more important question is that if Tobias morphs Ax, and TobiAx is infested, then he demorphs into a Hawk-Controller... does the Yeerk still need to feed? What if he gets trapped in another morph, say, Human? Is he freed after 3 days or does the Yeerk require no sustenance while floating in Z-space?

My head, it hurts.

Book 52: A Yeerk-Falcon seeks to become a falcon nothlit.  Why isn't the Yeerk inside the falcon worried about how it will obtain Kandrona rays every 3 days?

Supposedly it was the Yeerk itsself that morphed. I'd like to think there wasn't a possibly involuntary Human being morphed against his will just so the Yeerk could escape the war.
