The One and the Kelbrids
« on: September 02, 2008, 01:50:59 PM »
The one thing I did like about #54 was the introduction of two new totally different and mysterious elements that would be good stock to start off a new series. I mean, if Animorphs were to come back, the One and the Kelbrids would be excellent places to start. It would be a different direction and it would keep that feeling of "slowly learning abou the enemy overtime" element to Animorphs. The hard part would be that the Humans would probably grow fast technologically and it would turn into one of the other many science fiction series out there.

However, I started this topic because I have a question. It's probably been discussed at one point or another. When I read #54 I always had it in my head that the One and the Kelbrids were connected somehow. So...here's my question. Are they? Or does the One just happen to be in Kelbrid space at that time? Or...do we just not know enough? But what can we speculate?

I didn't connect the One and the Kelbrids, but that's possibly only because we know so little about the Kelbrids in the first place.  Now that I think about it, though, I'm sure the Kelbrids much have some idea that the One is running around in their area of outer space.  Just speculation, of course.

Have you noticed how the powerful alien races all have a way of "not being themselves"? What I mean is this,

Andalites - can morph into another creature

Yeerk - can go into another sentient being and control them

Ellimist - he downloaded a bunch of other species' memories

and The One - he seems to assimilate others into himself.

*sigh*  They weren't included to set up a new series or even give the possibility of setting up a new series.

They were just there to end it with that notion of "the kids came into this series fighting, and that's the way they're going to go out."  It wasn't a cliffhanger.

Not really.  Nothing there to ponder over, it's just a "kids die, Cassie cries, jabadabadingdong The End, roll credits" device.  No more Yeerks or Howlers, how do we show the kids goin' out fightin'?  More alienz!  What sounds cool?  "I am ze One!" - "you broke Kelbrid treaty raaar, eat cold dead space!"

Rabble rabble rabble.

The Kelbrid always made me think of Cardassians from Star Trek.

But thats just because 'Kelbrid' sounds like a portemanteu of 'Keldon' and 'Hybrid' (two of their battleship classes)
*anything* is possible, *some* things are probable, this is what is.
And I will continue to deal with what is...
Until it is no more....
