Not to mention The Young and The Restless, Cops, The Brady Bunch, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, ER, ... can I go on? :)

Oh, and the time commercial breaks were introduced as "These Messages." Ah, 90s TV.

Of course!  :D

By the way even if some of these references aren't specifically 90s, those topics were just talked about more often...Nowadays even though there's so much stuff going on, it just feels like there's nothing to talk about... :(

Haha I love it when Ax makes those jokes about being young and restless. :)

I don't understand why they need to update the series. Is there a reason? Kids are not stupid : they are able understand that a book is not set in the present time.

And at the very least, there's nothing in there that kids can't Google.

Party of Five, which Tobias is inexplicably a fan of.

Also The Offspring are mentioned.  Not entirely unique to the 90s, but definitely associated mostly with that decade.

The Offspring to the 90's like Bon Jovi is to the 80's. Yeah, they're both still active, but their biggest moments were in those respective decades.

TV was probably the only thing Tobias had any real access to in his teen years.

The fact all of this stuff is seen as "nostalgic" really depresses me.  :(

This decade (well, the last one I guess, '00 'til '10, and from then on) bites big-time.  And not just 'cause I was 14 when it ended and don't know any better.

Person Of Interest re-watch.  Still stunning as ever.

I'm sure people who grew up in the 80s would biatch about the 90s in the same way, but up until '98 or so, that seemed to be like the last gasp of breath before anything culturally cool & interesting went to hell.  I can't really name any band or "icon" or whatever that'll be remembered 5 years down the road.  At least ones that aren't sleep-inducing.

Well, sure, but they're all Nickelback levels of suckage.  Doubtful the latter two'll even make it a half decade of people knowing 'em.  3DD, granted, but yeah.  Eww.

The way they have to call eachother on their home phones to meet up seems so alien to me.  If only Ax could make them i-phones.
