When I say serious, I mean is there anyone out there who is willing to take, say, a decade of their life to write, produce, direct, edit, and distribute these as films?  I hear a lot of talk about Animorphs movies on here, is anyone truly serious about it?

Technically, I'd prefer to make a TV series but I guess the answer is yes.

I'm a film student and a life long fan of Animorphs. I'd love nothing more than (and am seriously planning to one day) to adapt one of my favorite childhood books into a TV show. Though I'd be happy with a movie if I was forced to.
This great evil - where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
What seed, what root did it grow from?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we mighta known?
Does our ruin benefit the earth, aid the grass to grow and the sun to shine?  Is this darkness in you, too?  Have you passed through this night?

Unfortunately no.  My only relevant talent would be writing.  (Can't act can't do anything otherwise realted to film)

Would consider helping if someone else got it off the ground (writing bits (dialogue), editing, and of course being an extra!  Controller number 12 here I come! lol)  ;D

But it can't interfere with the rest of my life or my own writing too much.

No, I'm afraid not. Filmstu is working on something, though. He seems serious about it.

Not a movie, though I do seriously want to make an Animorphs video game, and plan on doing it once I get my feet wet in the gaming industry.

Really?  When we gonna start hearing about it (at least on this site)?

You people REALLY NEED TO LEAVE THIS.

Pursue this with letters to studios and typical militant fanboy-ness, and we're not going to get a good result.  Yes, we'll get a movie made, just not one worth watching.

Pleeaase, all stop talking about movies, you're scaring the everloving hell out of me and Doctor Sanity.

Dude what is your deal? We can talk about it all we want, and we can make as many moves to actually create the movie as we want. You are like the only one who thinks it cant be done and you are completely wrong.

I'm not in the movie business so I can't honestly say I plan to make the movie, but if I had any power to do so, or if I had alot of money, I fully would.

Yea filmstu had some good ideas for a tv series, forget where he posted it

I'm not in the movie business

I think that's exactly my point right there.

I know I'm being a downer with all of this, but that's because I know how the industry works and how easily exploitable fanbases like yourselves can be for a quick buck.  Make no mistake, you won't get a movie series without cutting corners and making concessions and compromises for soccer moms.

That's why I'm going for a video game. Yes, it's similarly cut-throat, but as I said, I want to get my feet wet in the industry before I really get started.

And I'm saying that no 300 million dollar Animorphs movie will ever be made that is even vaguely faithful to the themes of the books.

I don't think that it's really difficult to be faithful.  The stories from the book are easy enough to transfer to film.  Of course it wouldn't be exact, but it could work.  I don't think they would have to change too much.
