Have you ever known a Rachel, physically?
« on: May 21, 2012, 01:54:03 PM »
I don't mean a tall blonde really, but Rachel is repeatedly described as a consistent and flawless beauty.
I've taken note of numerous lookers in my time, but they always have some  fault, temporary or fleeting, major or minor that makes the idea of a constant beauty seem the most fictional part of this fictional series.(yeah, I know: shallow)
Even models and celebrities, people bad to look good, it's not hard to find a shot of them looking a little dumpy. It struck me recently that I've never seen someone that could match the standard Rachel would set.

So I guess that's my question, have you know someone who's been able to maintain an exceptional physical composure and appearance at all times?
Is a Rachel in this sense even possible?
Something, something, oh crap I pissed everyone off again....

I think I always assumed (probably because it didn't seem possible) that the assertion that Rachel always looked flawless, etc. was an exaggeration when they essentially meant "Rachel's super pretty and always tries to take care of her appearance." I've met good looking people who put a lot of effort into looking their best whenever possible.

But yeah, if that wasn't what's meant in the books, then I don't think it's really possible irl. At least I've never met anyone like that.

Agreed. I don't think it's possible either, without like make-up and maybe photo-shop or something.
I do know this girl who always tried to look her best. She's already pretty and tall, but still wears high-heels and puts on make-up... >.<

I think your taking the flawless thing too literally. But there are plenty of girls that look great even first thing in the morning with no makup.  In an ironic way its the flaws in a person that give them character and that can make them "perfect" at times to me. If that makes any sense at all.

It's all about two things: Make up and confidence.   :P

People who have both (like Rachel) will always be viewed as prettier than people with 'natural' beauty, unless they really lost the genetic roulette.  Add in relatively lucky genetics/family situation (tall, blonde, money to spend) and you have someone who will look perfect even if they are lanky or have a big nose.  (In the books Rachel mentions she is clumsy, so she reading between the lines it's easy to imagine she would have been akward-type stick figure if she didn't try so hard.)

So yeah, perfection isn't attainable, but it's fake-able.

Well their was this one girl... ;)

But no, No one is that perfect. Even the pagant queen wakes up with a pimple every now and again. However, if their WAS a girl like that in my life, I'd have to say my insurance provider takes the cake. I've never seen a hair out of place on her. She has a great voice as well.
Meh.

Well, how did you even imagined Rachel while reading? Like the model in the cover? Like someone else?
Personally I always imagined it was Elisha Cutnerth from PMK

My ex's personality was exactly like Rachel. And Noelle was dead on accurate about her. Picture for reference.

I would have to say that I sat NEXT to a girl that screamed "Rachel's doppleganger" in the fifth grade. She had the height, and then some, the face, the hair, you name it, she had it. I forgot what her name was but she would always want to see which Animorphs book I was currently reading.

I've never know a girl/woman/female that always looked perfect and beautiful at all times like Rachel is made out to be.  But with some Frankenstein-ish methods I could easily build one.  Er well, as long as personalities are transplantable.

But as a male fan of animorphs I will continue the search for the real life Rachel.

Well, there's always plastic surgery, though I consider that kind of Frankensteinish.   :XD:

Its pretty Frankenstein sometimes lol.  But I don't think real life science can pull off sometime along the lines of, this girls skin tone, that girls hair, that girl body etc.  Rachel is purely a fictional character for so many reasons.

I've never met a girl that was as completely 'strong willed/confident or whatever' as her.  Her violence was possible because of the war she was involved in, so I don't think that is something that can be witnessed in the real world.

Not personally.

I always thought it was more about her confidence and bearing than her actual physical beauty anyway.

Yeah. For whatever reason, I always saw Rachel as pretty but an average kind of pretty. But with enough confidence to kick all male chauvinists in the balls and enough beautiful clothing to confuse them. ;)

On a thin woman anyway, their appearance changes very slightly every time they injest something. Even models probably have pot bellies when they eat a big meal. ;D And most of them are pretty enough without makeup when young, but to attain "flawless" requires either plastic surgery or an excellent foundation. Or both.
