<Good,> Corliss replies affectionately, returning the gesture with his own palps.  <I never realized I could care about someone like this, you know.  I quite like it actually.>

Mike is so shocked, in spite of his prodding, that for a moment he's at a loss for words.  He collects his dropped jaw with an audible click of teeth.

"Blimey," he mutters, watching the inebriated Controller.  "No wonder she was so upset over losing you.  The feeling really is mutual."  He clears his throat.  "Zorish, you know that what your feeling is not a crime, don't you?"

<Yeah,> Terenia agrees, falling into a contented silence for a few minutes. She thinks back to the kiss that they shared, moments before her life jettisoned down yet another downward spiral, and smiles inwardly. <You aren't going to start searching out a third, are you?> she asks teasingly. <I'm not into the whole fusion thing, just so you know. I like my body to remain intact.>

"It's a death sentence," Zorish hisses from behind a clenched jaw. He props his elbows up on the table, burying his head in his hands, ignoring the curious prods from Tamora's consciousness. "Death by Kandrona starvation, no less," he adds, looking up long enough to glare at Mike with such ferocity that for a moment he resembles Terenia much more closely than Tamora.

Derrel watched as Zorish got up suddenly, then slumped back down. she was glaring at Mike now. <<You think I should break that up before it gets worse?>> He asked Illim. She hadn't gone for her weapon yet, which was good.

<What?> Corliss yelps, curling his palps back.  <No, no, of course not.  I-I quite like living, thanks.>

"A death sentence to the Empire," Mike insists, placing his hands on the scuffed bar counter.  "Not to decent and rational people."

A shuttle appears in orbit above the small planetoid. It appears like a small bloated arrowhead passing through the center of a circle. The lone pilot looks around and begins typing into his navigation computer madly. He asks aloud, "Where the hell are we?" Suddenly a dome behind his ****pit spins in half-rotations, switching directions almost randomly. A series of beeps and whirs sound. The pilot says, seemingly as though responding, "What do you mean you don't know? What happened? Those coordinates I gave you were good. I've used them tons of times." Another round of clicks and beeps sound.

"What are you talking about, a gravity well? There's no way there could've been a gravity well anywhere on that path. No stars were going to pass through that pathway for another millenium. The nearest star had already passed. A gravity well is literally an impossibility." More beeps and clicks follow.

"Well the nav computer is wro-. Wait a minute, go through the log, what system did we pass through just before we were forced from Hyperspace?" A long moment of silence passes before he hears a "response". He slams his head back against his seat.

"That space was taken by the Mandalorians. They must've set up an Interdiction Field. Dammit. Well back to my first question, what do you mean you don't know where we are? If we exited near Serroco, we should definitely know where we are." A few whirs sound, followed by a haunting whine.

"No no, the Interdiction Field should've only forced us out of Hyperspace, near the planet, not sent us out of known space. This little planetoid doesn't look a thing like Serroco, it looks more like an asteroid." He looks at his scanners, "Except this asteroid has life on it." More data scales the screen, "A lot of life. There's forestry and bodies of water, I've never seen any planet that small sustain life. I'm also picking up readings of artificial energy sources. I think there are ships down there." He's answered by more beeps followed by the haunted whine again.

"Don't worry about it, I'm sure it'll be fine. I don't think we're in Mandalorian Space, and I highly doubt any Mandalorian would even consider occupying this... whatever it is. I'm going to check it out." He disconnects the arrowhead ship from the circle it penetrated and descended towards the planetoid.

The pilot found the source of the multiple energy sources. Indeed they were ships, ships of different sizes and designs. None of the ships he saw before him looked to be of Mandalorian design, nor any design he's seen. Most of them looked like insects or arachnids, others were just otherwise oddly shaped. He landed his ship amongst the other "parked" ships. His canopy slid open and he popped his head out. There was a dingy building in desperate need of repair before him. He looked around the parking lot and found no one was around. He shrugged and got out of the ****pit. He replaced the hood of his robe over his head as more beeps and clicks sounded.

"I'm just going to see where we are." The same haunted whirring echoes. The pilot shook his head comically and jumped onto the ground. He closed his robe around him and made for the building. His light brown robe covered his entire body, all the way down to his feet. The edges just missing the ground by decimeters. He walked through the front door and was amazed at the sight before him. It was a cantina, not unlike many he's seen in spaceports, except it was made of wood. This must be one hell of a well guarded secret for the Republic to not know about it. Even though his hood's shape covered his facial features, he could see outward just fine. He saw many humans around, as well as a few unknown species. He did see one "alien" he thought he recognized as akin to a Trandoshan, though there were many differences there as well. Not the least being its knees went the wrong way. He went up to the bar, sitting next to a couple. The girl seemed drunk off her ass and pissed at her boyfriend. Though their troubles weren't his, so he let them be.

He nodded to the bartender and asked, "You wouldn't happen to have any Tarisian Ale, would you?" The bartender looked at the newcomer stoically and left into the back room without a word. The pilot threw his head back in surprise. He was about to repeat his order loudly, but the bartender came back with his order. His eyes lit up and smiled. The bartender held out a pad with three words. The new patron thought a moment and said, "Tab." The bartender replaced his pad and went back to drying a mug the pilot could tell didn't actually need drying. He mentally shrugged began to drink the ale carefully to keep his hood in place.

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin sighs internally, still not showing any real vexedness.  <Troubling to say the least.>  He glances at Efaen again, returning his hoof to drink a bit more from the lake.  <If I may ask Efaen, what is your age?>  He displays little by way of his features, but curiosity runs through his mind.  He thinks Efaen younger than himself, but he generally feels that way about all of his commands even when they are twice his age.  Not a matter of rationality, merely a mindset.  It was possible she was of an age with him...if she was, they may have been in Academy at the same time.

~Rathien~

Rathien raises an eyebrow at Mar.  So far as he knew, Tobias was the only being capable of inter-dimensional travel, and he wouldn't have even believed that much were it not for his conversations with Thienal.  The being called Mar apparently thought Rathien's abilities exceeded the truth, he had no reason to disabuse him of the notion.  "You intrigue me, one known as Mar."  He bares his fangs in a grin as he watches Tobias begin to drop back next to his android.  He falls back with him without appearing to change stride or step.

He grins over at Tobias again before looking back at Mar.  "Go on, one known as Mar."

For whatever reason, perhaps all of the compounded stress and uncertainty of these new emotions, Terenia finds Corliss' reaction hilarious. She laughs openly in thought-speak; perhaps the first true laugh that she has had in years.

<I'm joking, Corliss,> she assures him, still giggling a little giddily. <Although it's good to know. I wouldn't want to be with anyone who was ready to keel over and...um...disinteg rate.>

"The Empire that is my home," Zorish says hotly. "The Empire that you have so graciously reminded me I have no way out of, even if I wanted to turn my back on them."

<Four,> Efaen says, giving the Andalite equivalent of a young-adult. What to a human may be someone in their late twenties or early thirties. She cautiously turns her stalk eyes away from the path that Serid had taken and resumes scanning the area for any danger. She also dips her hoof back in the lake to drink, although she is no longer thirsty.

Keshin laughs slightly at Ewa's well thought out comment, twirling a strand of Joanne's hair. "That's true, isn't it? I really can't attack anyone that has no ally at all. I guess what I really mean is that we won't attack people with too many allies. The last bounty we tried to execute in here blew up in our face because the person I attacked had a lot of unexpected friends. Now all we've got is a deal from a rebel that we can't even verify. Who knows if he'll follow through..."

<We're really pretty screwed, aren't we?>

<Yeah. Maybe Ewa has some idea. We also need to contact Corliss and confirm the Peace Movement is going to go through with it. We're not really the best of friends.>

Keshin shrugs amiably and says, "Have any jobs for a couple of freelance hunters?"
****************************************************************************************
Mar keeps his eyes trained on Rathien, continuing to walk forward. He wasn't sure if what he wanted would work: he certainly didn't think Rathien could actually kill the person he wanted to train the bounty hunter on. Nothing he'd tried previously had worked, and he'd tried everything. Really, he was more curious about exactly how dangerous the bounty hunter was and whether he could use that to his advantage. There were jobs Mar accumulated that required the services of such...people. This was a decent way to start.

"A person called...Crimson has been causing me a great deal of trouble lately," said Mar with a bit of a smile. "He's not an immortal, but he appears to be very difficult to kill. Many bounty hunters have tried and failed, and so have many soldiers. Even if you aren't planning to leave any time soon, I can at least give you the way into...the universe I come from. I think having such a strange creature in my domain would be fun."

That was mostly true, except for the part about Mar being "from" anywhere.

Corliss laughs hesitantly, then finds himself chirruping laughter like an eager grub.

<Good,> he says between pleasant clicks, <I intend for that eventuality to occur a very, very long time from now.>

Mike shrugs.  "You know, if you wouldn't spend so much time working for a government that intends to destroy us, maybe the rebellion would actually give you a chance.  Sort of a Catch-22, as it were, I know.  Unless you were able to prove yourselves to us.  Undergo a memory dump, quarantine, all that rot.   Almost all of us who are of the slimy variety came from the Empire at one point or another."

~Ossanlin~

Ossanlin raises his eyebrows a tad at Efaen's comment.  She was near his age after all...possibly even a bit older depending upon when she was born in the cycle.

<As am I.>  True though he isn't terribly far into his fourth cycle.  <We may have been in Academy at the same time...unless....>  He pauses a moment, taking the time to prepare his phrasing with care.  <When...and how did Terenia...remove you from your duties?>  He raises his main eyes questioningly at the female.

Candice seemed to be in deep thought, so Claxter began to wander a bit to eat and help himself finish drip drying. He thought about joining Ossanlin and Efaen, but decided against it since he hadn't been invited when he was sure they had seen them.

So what to do now? He considered trying to spy on Corliss and Terenia, but wasn't sure he could sneak aboard the Skimmer. He had gotten into Terenia's ship, but that was a hunk of junk. Maybe he shouldn't. It wasn't his responsibility, though he certainly wanted to find an excuse for Efaen not to go. Not that she didn't have any really good ones already.

<Well, that's a relief,> Terenia says with a small laugh. She manages to calm herself down a bit, although it is hard for her to do so completely. The very idea of enjoying herself, of being happy, is so foreign to her that she wants to experience it completely.

<<I wonder how Mike is doing,>> she wonders suddenly. If there is anyone who should enjoy the benefits of their conversation it is Mike.

Zorish laughs roughly. "I told you before, I have no intention of joining your terrorist organization. Just because the Empire may not be perfect, that doesn't mean it's worth risking my palps for your little band of paranoid rebels." He scowls and stands up, swaying slightly but managing to keep his feet this time.

"This conversation is poisonous," he announces. "It is poisonous and dangerous and fruitless. And it is over."

Snatching up his glass of water he totters backwards some, catches his balance, and spins around to leave.

<She and I were stationed aboard the same Dome Ship when I was finishing my aristh training,> Efaen says stonily. <She was already trapped as a Yeerk, and no one aboard the ship beyond the highest ranking officers and her host knew of her existence. She was being utilized for interrogation purposes and became upset with the methods by which they were asking her to extract information.> Efaen looks slightly unsettled by this, but pushes her concerns aside. <Eventually she decided to leave, but she had grown fond enough of her host that she had no desire to drag her away from her home. So she opted to find a replacement instead.>

<Knowing him, he's probably off drinking and getting me into trouble,> says Corliss wryly.  <Perhaps I should hail him.>

"Fine, suit yourself, mate," Mike says with a sigh, watching Zorish stagger his way from the bar counter.  "Barkeep, another pint, please.  On the tab."

Ewa frowned as Vogefac got up and left just as quickly as he had arrived.  She shrugged at Catie's comment.  "I've never met one of his race before.  Maybe they have different expectations for social interaction?  That or he was just distracting  himself from something he needed to do, I suppose."

She turned back to Keshin and smiled apologetically.  "At least I wasn't planning on hiring anyone myself.  So far as I know, I don't think I've stepped on that many toes yet...." She trailed off and tapped her fingers thoughtfully.  "Obviously no one's really advertising openly at the moment, but... it does seem like this place has some new Imperials coming in.  I'd guess they're a minority, for the moment, so they're probably unlikely to have powerful friends here.  The flip side is they'd probably be much more inclined to hire you.  Well.  Unless the fact that they are Imperials and you're not is going to be an issue." Ewa raised an eyebrow slightly in question.

<Maybe,> Terenia says. <I don't want to interfere with his time alone. He doesn't get much of it and he's sort of been more than giving with his head space lately.>

Zorish doesn't answer, beyond shooting Mike a disgusted look. He stumbles forward, hesitating when he comes to the center of the bar. Vaguely he realizes that if he were smart he would go back to his ship, sleep off the alcohol and then reassess his situation. At the moment, though, he doesn't really feel like doing the intelligent thing.

<<Zorish?>> Tamora asks hesitantly.

<<Quiet, human,>> he hisses sharply, making his swaying way towards one of the empty booths. He practically falls into it, slumping down against the cracked plastic and sipping his water moodily.
