"Alright...Just stay put. And try not to make any noise."
I was about to leave the room, when I got an idea.
"Someone hold the dog. I'm going to morph."
I walked over to my bed, where Charlie was sitting by the pillow. I started to pet him and concentrated very hard. I focused on the brown patches around his mouth, and the black and white of his fur. I concentrated on the tail--ever wagging.
Charlie fell into the trance for the second time. I had successfully acquired him. Now to morph...
I looked over at Chris--the only one of us who had morphed. I don't think it hurt him...But maybe it was different from person to person? Maybe it worked like an allergy. I might not be allergic to peanuts, but someone esle in the room might...
I closed my eyes, and I formed a mental picture of my dog in my head.
King Charles Cavelier Spaniel...White fur...black fur...tail...good sense of smell...
I started to shrink.
It wasn't anything like falling. It felt like the ground was rushing up towards me. And, the strangest thing was, that I was still me. I was still human...Just four inches or so shorter...
Then, I fell on to my hands and feet. My clothes had completely covered me as I changed. My spine shifted into a different shape, and I lost bone mass. Organs shifted, or else dissapeared all together. Fur sprouted all over my body--a magnificent mix of black, white and brown.
My face shot forwards, forming into a snout, and the shape of my eyes changed.
A tail shot right out of my spine! It was crazy! I was growing fur and a tail simultaneously! Morphing was so...illogical...It didn't seem to be happening bit by bit...
Eventually, the changes stopped. The last part of me to change was the senses--especially the sense of smell! I wanted to smell everything! Caleb's shoes. Whatever Chris ate for breakfast this morning! The stain from when I dropped a can of soda about three weeks ago--still fresh!
I looked up at the people in the room. I wanted to jump, smell and play with them all. I wanted one of them to pet my head. Scratch the spot behind my ear! I wanted to...
THERE WAS A DOG IN THE ROOM!
A DOG IN THE ROOM! I wanted to smell him to!
But was he friendly? Or was he a mean dog, like the terrier down the street? The tiny dog that kept barking at me whenever my master took me for a walk.
