Ax reminded me so much of Pip from 'Great Expectations'
« on: August 08, 2008, 05:44:23 PM »
Just like Charles Dickens' classic, I loved the wide-eyed observations and cute remarks from the naive Ax. He was such a fun narrator.

It's no wonder why he's mys econd favorite character
This great evil - where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
What seed, what root did it grow from?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we mighta known?
Does our ruin benefit the earth, aid the grass to grow and the sun to shine?  Is this darkness in you, too?  Have you passed through this night?

I applaud your marvelous literary insight, Yorick! I've been tempted to bring it up, but so few of us read Dickens anymore....

Anyway, thank you!
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

Now that you mention it, he does resemble Pip.

Although I only read that book in school and I wasn't really paying attention. ^^U
