This is just for fun (even though I am in a Pro Tools class at college right now, and could make an ad), but if you could write the script for a radio ad for The Sharing, what would it say? It would have to be read within 30 or 60 seconds.

I imagine that when Edriss 562 started The Sharing as Lore David Altman, (and one fan fiction I read may have used these phrases it was "Home for Dinner and Weekends" by HotPinkCoffee,) she/he came up with inspirational phrases such as "Be a part of something bigger" and (this is from HPC's story) "The Sharing: Living for something greater." All right, I'm sorry. Let me borrow more from HPC's story (found here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6036674/1/Home_for_Dinner_and_Weekends, chapter 2). Her other phrases are "Sharing Souls is Our Goal" and "Be Something More Than What You Are."

Anyway, if you could write a short radio ad for The Sharing, what would it say? I can't wait to hear what (partial) scripts you guys come up with.

I get the feeling the commercials for the sharing would be a lot like the commercials for Apple.

LOL - "Think Different." That phrase works for computers and stuff, but for feel-good social groups? Eh.

If someone comes up with a script that I really like, I just might find time to record myself reading it with some musical backing. I wonder if this topic is straying too far into "projects" territory...

That reminds me of somewhere I read "Join the Dark Side [Star Wars reference]. We have cookies."

Nate Sean, I liked your sentence. Too bad its too short for an ad. Maybe it'd work for a print ad. That would be something for a graphics design student, not a sound production student.

Slightly off topic but actually I'm surprised that the Yeerks never tried to use religion against humans. Say when people go into confession or when they're alone it'd be easy to hold someone against their will whilst letting a Yeerk slide in. Why bother with the Sharing and all the teambuilding stuff? I started watching V a week or so back and it really made me think of Animorphs (hence my re-reading a few non-sequential books)!

Radio-ad: ("Oh Happy happy day! Oh happy happy day!" playing in the background, a McDonald's sponsored ad!)

Temporal Traveller Aquilai: "One small step back in time. One GIANT leap for mankind."
"People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define "reality". But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true"? Merely vague concepts… their "reality" may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?"

The sharing a safe, fun, family friendly environment where you can lose yourself. Become a senior member today!" or for comedy "Join the sharing, or we'll come to your house."

So far we have something like this:

"Got a lot on your mind and you need help sorting it out? Well here at The Sharing, we've got just the thing! Here at The Sharing, we participate in many fun activities together, including group recycling efforts, blood drives, donation to charities, or even just playing games together at our community center. The Sharing is a non-profit (print ad only: 501(c)(3)) organization, supported entirely by the contributions of its members*. Our aim is to provide a safe place where anyone can come and be accepted. For more information, including the location of our main offices in Santa Barbara, call 1-800-293-5872**, or visit us on the world wide web, at double-u double-u double-u dot The Sharing dot org, AOL keyword "Sharing". Visit your local Sharing center today! With satellite locations in cities across the U.S., we're never too far away. The sharing a safe, fun, family friendly environment where you can lose yourself. Become a senior member today!" [end]

With some extra words in the middle, I bet that could be 30 seconds. (Thank you, newBlazingAngel.)

EDIT: With the new stuff I've added in green, this may well approach 60 seconds long. Unfortunately, my haphazard addition (I had to retype it from memory when my internet failed, but that's irrelevant) makes it so that this now could use some editing to make more sense for a radio ad.

*Though they'll accept donations from anyone, including non-"full members". Full members are obviously the primary donors, though.
**This is just a random number I pounded out on my keyboard. Call at your own risk.

You know going along the same lines, what would be the posters that 'The Sharing' would probably put up at local middle and high schools would be?

Just a quick reprint, in black, of the latest revision:

"Got a lot on your mind and you need help sorting it out? Well here at The Sharing, we've got just the thing! Here at The Sharing, we participate in many fun activities together, including group recycling efforts, blood drives, donation to charities, or even just playing games together at our community center. Become a senior member today!"

But I'd also like to implement one or more of the phrases "Be a part of something bigger." "The Sharing: Living for something greater." "Sharing Souls is Our Goal" and "Be Something More Than What You Are", if possible. Those are good phrases.

You know going along the same lines, what would be the posters that 'The Sharing' would probably put up at local middle and high schools would be?

In HotPinkCoffee/LisaCharly's story that I linked to in my opening post, she described the posters inside The Sharing's lobby like this:

On the front door there was a poster with an insignia on it, something that looked like the top half of a person reaching for the sky. The poster read "The Sharing: living for something greater" and in smaller print "open every day, all hours".
