What if: Animorphs #55 - #64
« on: March 02, 2011, 04:09:48 PM »
During the beginning of the finale arc, there was a rumor that KAA's contract called for 64 regular books. After #54, it turned out to be true. However, she probably backed out of it.

What if she had written those extra ten books? What would their titles have been? Would Rachel have died in #54? If yes, who'd narrate #60? What would the covers have been like?

This could also work as an idea thread for a possible extension of the series, which could happen after the re-releases.
I may seem like an idiot, but trust me: I know what I'm talking about.

Rachel probably wouldn't have died until book 64 if there had been 64 books. See, you can get away with something like killing off a main character if it's in the very last book. Not like you have to deal with any consequences when it's the last book in the series.

Alright, then... What if the Finale Arc had started with #55, which would have been narrated by Tobias?

Would any of the plots from #45 - #54 have happened? What effect would the narration change have on the series from #45 - #64?

How would Loren play into the beginning of the 55-64 finale arc?

(Note: At one point, Applegate had an 80 book contract for Animorphs, which was shortened to 72, then to  64. However, she also had three missing books in the contract: Megamorphs #5, a fifth Chronicles and the Series Bible.)

Edit: If my theory is right and the person who was supposed to narrate the final book dies not matter what number the book had, than it would be AX dying in #64.

Loren was forgotten and left behind. I doubt she'd even be mentioned post 54.

True, but if the finale arc was 55-64, she'd be all over #55 since Tobias was supposed to be the narrator.

This is the narration schedule for 55-64.

55. Tobias
56. Cassie
57. Marco
58. Ax (Jeez. My theory about the title just got a bit more solid!)
59. Jake
60. Rachel
61. Tobias
62. Cassie
63. Marco
64. Ax

My theory on what the title of #58 would have been is based on the fact that in #54, Applegate alluded to terrorism, and ironically, #58 would have been released in September 2001.

Now, I'm sure that this would have been a MAJOR coincedence, but the title of #58 would have been The Terror. The fact that Ax would have narrated #58 solidifies this theory.

The reason for that? I still need to work that out.

Would Applegate have gone "WTF, Osama bin Laden just messed up Book 41!!!!".  Book 41 references the World Trade Center!

What would have been the plot in "The Terror"?
