Why hasn't Alloran escaped yet?
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:35:31 AM »
Ok, so once every three days Visser Three feeds in the Yeerk pool. My question is: How do they contain Alloran during that time?! Alloran is morph-capable. I once remember reading about KA Applegate writing that "Alloran is kept under heavy guard" or something like that, but keeping him under guard wouldn't help, since he could morph that eight-headed fire monster or the Antarean Bogg and overpower the Hork-Bajir, and even if they threatened to kill him before he fully morphed, he wouldn't care as death is better than being a Controller.

Discuss.

They probably knock him out.

They probably knock him out.

This.

And I am sure they do keep him under heavy guard just long enough for Visser Three to feed and get back in the body before Alloran really has a chance to do anything.

Maybe Andalites have a certain weakness(like a pressure point) and V3 tells the Hork-Bajir Alloran's weak point.

My money's on sedation/anesthetic.

Actually, they probably use sedation on a lot of their more troublesome hosts. Can you imagine trying to keep cover as a successful businessman if every three days you go in with a broken nose because your host is being a spiteful pain in the neck down at the cages?

Yeah I always assumed they sedated him. And Lisa brings up a good point, you're bound to have hosts rebel by smashing their fists (or heads) against their cage out of frustration.

Maybe they just stun them. We often forget that Dracon Beams do have a stun setting.

It does make you wonder about voluntary controllers like the Chapmans. These are people who not only bargained with the Yeerks, but who frequently fought to control their bodies when they didn't like what was happening. (IE, the threat of Melissa being infested)

If controllers like that weren't kept in the cages with the others, then they would either have to be under heavy guard or sedated to prevent self-harm.

Sedation. Bio Stasis. Some guard inflicting heavy pain on him to keep him from concentrating on a morph. We know he's not completely psychologically broken, so that's out.

I'm sure they  have a physical prevention on alloran, but I really don't think the other host being damaged is such a big deal:
1) Most people didn't go out of there way to hurt them selves and
2) Even if they did, I'm sure Yeerk-medicare can patch up a broken nose or smashed fisted-I recall an arm being attached somewhere when V3 was being "generous"

I mean lets face it, even if human involvement in fights was low, there was enough in there that without repair people would start to ask why every guy in the sharing had an eye patch, or looked like he'd been well, mauled by a tiger
Something, something, oh crap I pissed everyone off again....

Possibly. Although we don't know how much time Yeerk medical takes. Most Controllers passing as human probably have places to be and people to see. We also don't know how much Yeerk medical was on Earth during the early stages of the invasion, prior to the construction of the Pool.

Sedation, for sure.  Even Edriss sedated or at the very least restrained her hosts prior to the war, didn't she?

Wasn't there a mention of her cuffing Lore Altman to a radiator?

Either way in the end,Alloran was allowed to go back and have freedom.

But yeah I am sure anyway they could hold Alloran just long enough for Visser Three to feed and back in was a good way.But I am pretty sure Visser Three cut off someones head if they damaged the body to much.

Even if Alloran wasn't sedated (which he likely was), he would have been heavily restrained. It takes nearly two minutes to complete a morph, so if he is under heavy guard and begins morphing it wouldn't be too hard for them to stun him with a Dracon Beam before he becomes dangerous.
