1000 Things the Animorphs SHOULD Have Morphed
« on: February 15, 2011, 09:58:17 PM »
This includes morphs they should have used instead of a morph they used in a particular book. Also, things they should have morphed earlier, like the mallard. Or things you think would have looked cool, funny, or would have just ended the war quicker. And maybe morphs they should have morphed more often. Also, be sure to number all suggestions.

     1) Ostrich!

Let's face it; Ostriches kick butt! As we discussed in the What would YOUR Battle Morph Be? thread, these buggers are fast and tough. If there's one thing that could have caught a Garatron, my bet would be Ostrich.

The Howler from Book 26. And also, the duck-billed platypus. Why? Because they're just that awesome. :D

Porcupines. Skunks are nasty, certainly. But a porcupine does damage. Plus, predators can and do frequently approach and try to attack skunks if they're hungry enough. A pride of lions will actually cut a porcupine a wide berth.

Wolverines. There's a reason why my favorite X-man is called Wolverine and it's not because he poops in the woods. These things will attack animals twice their size because they just don't like them.

I think shark morph should have been a no brainer from the get go. Hardly anything messes with a shark and that pesky breathing problem would be solved.

I think a polar bear or some kind of predatory morph that withstands the cold would have been another no brainer before going to the North Pole. The Gardens has to at least have an arctic fox.

For that matter, the Arn can create animals. So why not have the one surviving Arn whip up a nasty morph that could actually stand a chance against Visser Three's arsenal? And when the Animorphs were off world, why not take the opportunity to find some firepower for the purpose of actually making said Visser turn tail and run? Do all the alien zoos out there have some kind of unaccompanied minor rules?

I really wanted to see one of them morph a white tiger. Although, that would probably be silly, since Jake already had a tiger.

     So we have:

     1) Ostrich
     2) Pangolin
     3) Howler
     4) Porcupines
     5) Wolverines
     6) Shark
     7) Polar Bear
     8) Duck Biller Platypus
     9) Something cooked up by the arn/creature from the deep (which I always agreed with)

10) Liger

Cross between a male Lion and a female Tiger, Ligers are the largest known species of big cat. Getting hold of one to acquire would be difficult, as there not exactly common in captivity and don't exist in the wild, but if they could find one it would be seriously badass.

That's where my theory about the frolis maneuver comes in.

Animals that are compatible breeders should have combinable DNA. And there are some nasty hybrids out there.

Interesting theory. I always assumed that it only worked when merging multiple DNA patterns of the same species, but it makes sense for it to work with any creatures that are genetically compatible.

How about morphing a camel? That way when Marco's making wisecracks, he really WILL be a jackass. ;D

But seriously, I'd loved it if the Animorphs had morphed hedgehogs. Why? Do you need to ask?

I thought of it for an Animorphs role-playing game (on paper with die, you know...), as a kind of level (when you begin to morph, you can just morph the person/animal you took, then you can mix 2 DNA from the same species, then from close species, then from quite different species (at the final end, and it's difficult and dangerous)). I'd like to play an Animorphs RPG, but... writing it is sooooo long... and deciding the rules is kind of difficult sometimes.

I know its off-topic, but if Andalites seemed to have the ability to mix DNA, like how Ax did when he acquired the animorphs, then why not have Ax mix the dna of a couple of diffrent animals (Lion and tiger) for example.  And become a huge morph capable of handling a good amount of Hork Bajir.
On a side note, Why didn't the animorphs have the ability to mix  DNA, woulda made another good use of thier only weapon.

They probably assumed it couldn't be done, or that it could only be done with human DNA--which they wouldn't have attempted, giving their "no morphing sentinents rule".

They could have used Andalite (read: Aximili) morphs to their tactical advantage, especially in the early days, to play up their reputation as the dastardly Andalite bandits.  In a similar vein they should have found more use, and earlier, for Hork-Bajir morphs.  And imagine Cassie using an Andalite or Hork-Bajir battle morph— bit more useful than a wolf, if you ask me.
