Double-post, but... how do you folk feel about each of us doubling up on characters? As in we each write a second character (or whomever is interested in it), ideally something other than human since we have plenty humans in play right now, so that the next several posts aren't leaving bodyguard duties entirely to Arhareli? We can see that getting old pretty fast, if it hasn't already.
Also, we have something we want you all to vote on. We aren't going to vote; that way the three of you can have a decisive result, between the lot of you.
PM us your responses, that way it's a private vote. Here are the options we propose:
Option 1: We continue as we're doing, and the four players just totally wing it with the story and hope it goes someplace interesting.
In this style of gameplay, the players will be responsible for communicating more in the OOC about the general direction they want the plot to go... otherwise we're at risk of writing against each other and walking over each others' attempted plot devices. Dice rolls probably wouldn't factor as heavily into this, since people would be less likely to be willing to let their character die or be taken out of the story by a bad roll.
Option 2: We (Estelore) generate a set of plot events and information that each other player has access to by PM. Not all players will have the same information, which means the characters will be working toward different plot points, all at the same time. Essentially, we'd be GMing properly and actually having a fairly solid long-term plan for the general direction the plot should go, instead of all of us making it up one tiny step at a time.
This type of gameplay would mean that players are less responsible for coming up with the story's events, but more responsible for writing 'realistically' in character how their characters respond to the events that occur. Dice rolls would be in effect for things like combat survival, morphing speed, etc., and we would hold you all to it. If a character dies on a roll of the dice, the player can choose one of the previously-NPCs to be their new character, or invent one on the spot based on available species in that location of the story.
So... collective plot development, or GM-regulated plot development? Please message us with your personal preference between these two. Once all three of you have responded, we'll post the vote results in this thread, and we'll proceed with the game accordingly.
