Im so ready for this again
Marco: Now do you see why it's crazy to think we can beat the Yeerks? I mean, come on: We can barely beat zoo security.

Tobias: (now stuck as a hawk) They'll come. The Andalites will come. And until then...
Jake: (nods and wipes tears) Yeah. Until then, we fight.

Okay, guys, the game is now jump-started. File in where you will.
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

He was probably kidnapped too. You have leeway to decide details.

Yep. Consider this basically an opportunity for you to come up with an history for your character: if he's on the kidnapping ship, how did he get there? Is he a kidnapped person, too, or a crew member on the ship? Did he stow away on it somehow when it stopped someplace?

You have oodles of options to work with, and you don't have to flesh it out 100% just yet. For starters, if he's on the ship, maybe he's in the mess hall, and maybe he's curious about the new faces he sees walking into it...? If you want to start interacting with us right away, meeting the other characters where they are in-game is the fastest way to do it.

Guys, if this is going to go anywhere, we're going to need you to take initiative beyond one or two lines of dialogue. Tentatively exploring the ship the characters are on would be a good place to start, and it's something the characters can do without getting separated. We don't mind GMing, but at the same time we can't be the whole plot-driving force, telling you all what to do at every turn. There's no fun in that, and it'd be easier to just write a fan-fiction, if that's how we're going to play. :-/

Thank you so much. Seriously, that's extremely helpful at keeping this thing moving. :)

Sorry. I'll keep trying. Do you have an idea for what the ship is or should work on that one?

We have several ideas, any of which can be adapted to whatever happens next. :)
We've not set any single plot in stone, since a story can shift suddenly.

Double-post, but... how do you folk feel about each of us doubling up on characters? As in we each write a second character (or whomever is interested in it), ideally something other than human since we have plenty humans in play right now, so that the next several posts aren't leaving bodyguard duties entirely to Arhareli? We can see that getting old pretty fast, if it hasn't already.

Also, we have something we want you all to vote on. We aren't going to vote; that way the three of you can have a decisive result, between the lot of you.

PM us your responses, that way it's a private vote. Here are the options we propose:

Option 1: We continue as we're doing, and the four players just totally wing it with the story and hope it goes someplace interesting.

In this style of gameplay, the players will be responsible for communicating more in the OOC about the general direction they want the plot to go... otherwise we're at risk of writing against each other and walking over each others' attempted plot devices. Dice rolls probably wouldn't factor as heavily into this, since people would be less likely to be willing to let their character die or be taken out of the story by a bad roll.

Option 2: We (Estelore) generate a set of plot events and information that each other player has access to by PM. Not all players will have the same information, which means the characters will be working toward different plot points, all at the same time. Essentially, we'd be GMing properly and actually having a fairly solid long-term plan for the general direction the plot should go, instead of all of us making it up one tiny step at a time.

This type of gameplay would mean that players are less responsible for coming up with the story's events, but more responsible for writing 'realistically' in character how their characters respond to the events that occur. Dice rolls would be in effect for things like combat survival, morphing speed, etc., and we would hold you all to it. If a character dies on a roll of the dice, the player can choose one of the previously-NPCs to be their new character, or invent one on the spot based on available species in that location of the story.

So... collective plot development, or GM-regulated plot development? Please message us with your personal preference between these two. Once all three of you have responded, we'll post the vote results in this thread, and we'll proceed with the game accordingly.
