By the by, Salem's ship scans passively. Probably nothing for Thor to detect. The entire hull acts as both a collector and emitter of all types of energy, giving it crazy-awesome resolution, and normally no need for active scanning. Also eliminates the need for separate imaging, propulsion, weapons, shielding, communications and armor systems- they're all handled by the hull. Also renders the ship very stealthy- not the same active cloaking you see in Star Trek, for example, but something more akin to the stealth aircraft of today; just very difficult to detect. Energy absorbed by the hull, if dissipated quickly enough (like, not energy from being shot at), can be channeled and stored for later use. I'd say it would reduce the stress on the power core, but the core must always produce energy at its maximum capacity- anything less will cause it to decay by its very nature. Green energy requires carrying big batteries in Salem's time, apparently.
So, yeah, I tend to try to keep Salem off his ship, if at all possible. It's elegant and gorgeous, yes, but too much for this bar. On the other hand, I'm sure Al'd love to use it for a party. Combination intricate light/laser show and extremely high-fidelity speaker? Yeah, it'd be fun.
