You don't remember their history well, do you? Claxter was constantly trying to separate Terenia and Efaen, while Parker was defending Terenia. Claxter was always hostile toward Terenia, and that made him a threat towards someone Parker promised to protect.

Parker got along fine with Zosh and Temrash, but he did not like Claxter.

Yeah, Efaen was the last one off the ship, after demorphing. Corliss and Terenia are in the back room still, not visible. All Parker would have seen is Efaen (who he thinks is Terenia) getting off the ship. Illim and Serid and Ossanlin had already left and I don't think Claxter was ever officially on board.
