They were under the assumption that Sean was going after Jo at the time, because, well, SEAN SAID HE WAS! They might not know where Jo is, but they know where she's going to be. Don't get me wrong. You have every right to change Sean's mind, but you GMed people into doing something that they had intentions of doing with the understanding that your character was going to do something. Then you had your character change his mind, which they would have noticed, and I expect that they'd object. If no one had gone after Jo under normal conditions, it'd just be Tarry who'd be going on about this (whenever he gets better), but you GMed it so they couldn't react to the change in plans.
