Down there...?
« on: September 22, 2010, 08:56:34 AM »
Yeah, I know it's a children's series, but let's brainstorm here- have you ever considered the genitalia on some of these creatures? Andalites are blue centaurs, so the term "hung like a horse" comes to mind...

Do they have external or telepathic sex?

Are the mating habits of the Hork-Bajir or Taxxons ever discussed? If so....how the hell does that work without someone getting stabbed or eaten??

Do they find mates for pleasure or just reproduction, and if pleasure, what's the dating scene look like?

Leeran sex fascinates me, because I can't imagine intimacy being a huge deal in a culture with no secrets.

I don't think about it often, but I assume Andalites do it like most four legged creature. "Doggy style". As for Hork-Bajir, I assume they do it carefully. It must be possible, and the fact that they have tough hides and heal quickly likely helps.

Now as for Taxxons, they're probably one of those creatures like certain spiders, where the female eats the male. Though I'm not sure if the females are bigger than the males. I'm really not sure how they have sex, or what would keep them from eating their young. Maybe they usually mate near the Living Hive, who obviously can control their hunger. Maybe that's the only place they could actually mate. Or maybe the Living Hive is the only thing that breeds more Taxxons, much like a queen bee or ant.

Andalites couldn't have sexy time telepathically. They didn't get thought speech for some time, so .. Yeah. Gross. Alien sex.

I think my brain seriously just broke reading this. I thought I couldn't be any more shocked by fan thoughts after stumbling upon a Turtlecest thread on a TMNT forum (don't ask, for your sanity, just don't ask. :-X)

Still...it is an interesting thing to ponder. I think the only species they do cover as far as this goes is Yeerks right? We don't even know if Hork-Bajir give live birth or lay eggs that I can think of. For some reason I always envisioned them as egg-layers.

I picked but my text book for anatomy, and flipping through it you see a lot of diverse stuff in the nether-regions so as creepy as this is to think about it's also really fascinating....from an scientific view I mean :-[

The centaurian body does make you think horse, but at same time that seems like more exposure than the noble Andalites could get away with-including on the digestive end, ya know

Hork-Bajir I don't know-I can't conceive of a way for them to do it with out someone getting hurt

Now for Taxxons, I don't think this would work based on size, and at least one of them eating it, but I wonder if it might be like some insects, where the male deposits his reproductive materials just on the a and the female can pick it up. Now if we chuck in nupital gifts-especially one from each involved to for them to chew on during this, it may even be possible for taxxons to breed and everyone get out alive
Something, something, oh crap I pissed everyone off again....

I don't know if Horks give live birth or lay eggs either. I think of them as reptiles, but I believe it's stated in book 13 that Jara sweated after sliding his head open. Reptiles don't sweat that I know of. I'm not sure how they would work around the blades, except to do it carefully. I'm not sure how it would work, unless they really do cut each other a bit but not lethally.

Sex with blades? Kinky. :P

Nah, perhaps the Hork-Bajir have their "organs" in their tails, or somewhere along the more "accessible" areas.

As far as the Andalites, I think it would be more like the mating habits of a deer.

Remember, she likens the Adalites to deers more than horses.
Quote
My first reaction was that someone had cloned a person and a deer together. The creature had
a head and shoulders and arms that were more or less where they should have been, though
the skin was a pale shade of blue. But below that he had fur, a mix of blue and tan, covering a
four-legged body that really did look like it belonged to a deer, or maybe a small horse.

Is there a difference between horse sex and deer sex?

I can't imagine it'd be much different...but I'm far from an animal sex expert. :P

Hmm...come to think of it, in the book where Toby is born, doesn't Marco or someone else ponder this question on the Hork-Bajir? I seem to recall Jara says it's a 'Hork-Bajir secret' or something.

Well it's important to keep in mind that Horks are reptilian, not necessarily reptiles. They are aliens, which means that their biology may not equate perfectly with earth biology. They may sweat and still lay eggs. They may be warm-blooded, but scaly. They my give live birth, but be cold blooded. The normal rules don't necessarily apply.

could be like the parasitic wasps who lay their eggs in caterpillars. or in this case, each other.
the young could eat the female (i'm assuming the male fertilize her; she wouldn't give birth 'normally') for a nice nutritious snack.
yummy, taxxon. :taxxon:

As with humans, I mostly just don't pay attention to this subject except its relevance to my courses related to the general field of biological anthropology.

Looks like no one can know for sure. I guess the best conclusion here is the InterGalactic stork.

I'm pretty sure the Andalites have a ton of options, since they have access to morphing technology.
