Does anyone ever have any ideas for books?
« on: July 21, 2008, 06:39:02 PM »
Let's say that Animorphs is still around and we haven't reached the end. What ideas do you have for any other books?

I really liked some of the TV show episode ideas. Like the gang trying to stop a videotape of an Animorph morphing on a TV show due to Marco's carelessness and the guy with the tape is a geek with a crush on Rachel. Why didn't Applegate think of this? Guessing because The Journey had a somewhat similar idea with Marco trying to retrieve a photo camera.

Another idea from the TV episodes that could have led to a really interesting story arc in the books is Tobias discovering an underground resistnace movement of former controllers. But I guess Applegate's Yeerk Peace Movement somewhat took care of that.

A few more Chronicle books? I wish Applegate had written The Taxxon Chronicles and also a The Pemalite Chronicles so I could get to know Erek King better.

How about a Megamorphs book not unlike Elfangor's Secret where as a dangerous game by the Ellimist and Crayak, each Animorph is thrown into a different time period and must survive either morph-capable or morph-incapable? Jake is thrown into the battle of Gettysburg, Rachel in late 17th century Salem, Marco in the far future, Tobias in revolutionary America and Cassie in hundred years war-torn France. And they could only return after accomplishing some task. I'd like to have seen this tried because we know that the Animorphs make a great team but not how tough are they as individuals.

Or maybe we have reached the end and this is the continuation of the series. Any ideas?

Maybe a new series where we see Jake, Marco and Ax patroling the galaxy, battling any new nemesis that threatens sentient life as peace keepers after a joint Andalite-Human union.

This great evil - where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
What seed, what root did it grow from?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we mighta known?
Does our ruin benefit the earth, aid the grass to grow and the sun to shine?  Is this darkness in you, too?  Have you passed through this night?

Well, the first thing to do would be to rescue Ax. It would mean at least Jake, Marco and Tobias, somehow surviving that ramming Kamikaze stunt, some sort of deal and background info on The One and, making no mistake, just plain freeing Ax! That was not an ending our resident Andalite deserved. p-e-r-i-o-d.

But, on a side note, I once read a fanfic on David's deal with Cryak, where he got to pay back on the Animorphs and was really interesting. Wish the person would manifest his/herself and post it here. It was really worth reading.

It'd be interesting if for some reason they had to go to another country to fight the Yeerks and discovered a group just like them, they distrust each other at first but eventually unite for a battle. :)

Weird, I didn't see this thread before...

I like your new Megamorphs book idea Yorick, where the Animorphs all end up in different time periods (I'm a big fan of time travel). However, Megamorphs #3 was kinda similar so I don't think KA would have done that one.

I'm also very picky when it comes to post 54 ideas, as they are frequently dull, unrealistic and predictable ideas. "Ram the Blade ship... oh wait! The Ellimist saved us and brought Rachel back to life! And now he's sending us on a mission to save the universe again!"  ::)

I do have some ideas, but they're ideas I may decide to use in my fic at some point so I don't want to spoil them.

Well, other than coming with ways for the Pemalites to have survived (which I used in my Pemalite Chronicles fic), so... yeah, that was my biggest "This should SO have been in the books!" thing. And I ended up making it into a fanfic, which works well enough.

I would love to see a continuation of the series. If it was approached properly. Rachel's death I could accept. Wasn't happy about it, but I could accept it. Not all the heroes always survive in war after all.

But I would be so happy to see Ax rescued. I mean, I'm sure Andalite medicine could do something for him.

And I agree, that idea for a Megamorphs sounds really intriguing! Can the Animorphs are such team players, do they have the ability to work/make their own choices? That would be cool to see.

Ultimately, I think a book with something about how humans get on with Andalites would be a good read. I mean, first contact can't be as ideal as Star Trek makes it look. Parties and "Welcome to the Federation!" There certainly must be some differences they have to work out, a disagreement or something.

Uh, yeah... Rick Berman knew that. Hence why he addressed all these isssues in his TV show "Enterprise"

I never watched Enterprise. I tried, but couldn't get into it. Sorry for the discrepancy there. I watched original, Next Generation and Voyager.

Applegate should have written The Pemalite Chronicles from the point of view of Erek King

I would wanna read the Arn Chronicles, even though we have the basic story, I bet it could get really in depth.
Until then we fight.

Why on Earth would we need or even want to read the Arn chronicles?

We have plenty enough backstory in the Hork-Bajir Chronicles.
