I didn't read them when they first came out, as they weren't released here straight away, and the first book I read was book 5. Having said that, I'm sure that if I had read book 1 in 1996, I would have found it just as awesome as ever.  8)

I remember reading the Invasion when I was in the 4th grade, my teacher had it available in a big shelf for anyone to read. It actually was 1996 when that happened :D

I feel embarrassed to admit that I thought it looked boring the first time I saw the first book at Target...Can you ever forgive me?!
Then again, I didn't much like reading at the time, either, so maybe that had something to do with it...
But then I read the second book and was hooked immediately.

I got into them when #3 had come out, and it was the summer before I went into seventh grade.  It was sometime around August and it was blazing hot and my mom and I went to Barnes and Noble so I could look for some Choose Your Own Adventure books (totally addicted to those back then XD).  Near the C's in the kid's section I saw the first three Animorphs and thought...turning into animals plus aliens...I shall use my allowance to buy all three!

I remember walking out into my living room after I'd finished the first one and I said, "oh my crap, this series is awesome."  The beginning of the end, right there XD

I got #1 in 1998, 7 years old. Along with #2-#5 because my father, who bought it, liked the covers. I was too young to read it seriously back then. It was my sister who went all crazy about it. Years later it was me.

My sister had the first few Animorphs books - 1-12 - and I got more into it than she ever did.

That' pretty much how I got in to the series, my younger sister started requesting the books when we were like in Middle School and I picked them up for her since they always seemed to come in when I was at the library~  ^-^ though, my older brother was the first person to ever get in to the series when it first came out. But um, I was like four or five then, so my reading level and my maturity wasn't high enough for Animorphs lol. Buut, when I first read it, I remember thinking: UUUGGGHHH, SCI-FI, BOOOORRRIIINNGGG. Pretty much same way when I first heard of the series too.

Though I fell in love with the series later when I got bored at home and picked up one of the books my sister was so obsessed with. xP I read # 14 first and actually went "wowzers, a main character WHO'S BLACK? NO WAY", aaand, that's all I remember. I think I kept going from fourteen for a while and then went back and read 1-13 and was all "Ohhhhhh! Now it makes sense!" XD
