Apples are kind of like the symbol for teachers. I guess that's an American thing?

I didn't know that.

Is apple the symbol of knowledge or ... ?
Pink Piggy: Anyway, these are standard assumptions in economics. I have no problem with them. Quantum theory also seems weird but it is accepted, that is the way of science.
Brown Piggy: Quantum theory makes no claim about the motivations or welfare of quantum particles.

According to yahoo:

Quote
Apples have a long history of greasing the wheels of education.

According to aboutapple.com, the juicy fruit is a traditional present for teachers in the United States, Denmark, and Sweden. Some think the practice originated as a simple gift of food for poorly paid teachers. Others believe the good health associated with apples made the present particularly meaningful. And a few even think it's a nice name for a child.

Giving an apple to a teacher is also the origin for the term "apple-polisher," which was first recorded in the late 1920s. Apple-polishers, also referred to as bootlickers or toadies (among other, even worse nicknames), aren't always favorably looked upon by other students.

In other words, apples started to represent teachers and education. They represent the relationship betwenn the teacher and the student, they still give me apples sometimes. I think is cute, and actually I decorated my classroom this year with apples.

Haha, why not.

I thought of something different... with Adam and Eve and the apple she gave to him, just as if she offered him the knowledge.
Would have been cooler than yahoo's story :p

True, but that brought about the fall of man and, yeah....people already think teachers are boring. We wouldn't want them to think we were spreading evil throughout the world too.

But can you explain why there is an apple?

It's actually a sig and the apple is cuz, well IDK if this applies in France, but an apple is like a teacher's unofficial mascot

EDIT: nevermind, it's been answered already

(FYI ... it wasn't an apple ... it was probably a fig tree being the forbidden fruit as the area for that time didn't have apples.)

- This message has been brought to you by Mr. Boring Information.

Yeah, I read that on wiki today.  ;D

It's a nice banner !

It's actually a sig

ARE YOU SURE?

I thought "sig" stood for "signature"  and a signature can be some words, a smiley or a "banner".

A sig doesn't necessary imply a banner.
What you made was a banner that we can put as a sig.

Dude, Blue, that's awesome!!

And, it wasn't a fig, either, most Christians believe it's a fruit that isn't on the earth anymore. :P THIS information has been brought to you by, Mr. Has To Correct Every Little Piece Of Information And Has No Friends Because Of It. :P
