There were several continuity problems in the show.
Like they couldn't morph humans, and when Marco tried to morph a security guard, the guy's watch started appearing on his wrist. WTF!?

That's a continuity issue between the show and the book. It's perfectly "reasonable" considering the TV show allowed for morphing clothes.

I think I was in too much shock about how awful it was to really notice the horrible chemistry mix-ups.

i think the biggest laugh for me is still the scene where they escaped as butterflies lol and Visser 3 breaking through a door and then morph to human before stepping through lol

They don't even catch the butterfly either. It just lights on Cassie's hand like she's Aurora from sleeping Beauty.

Disclaimer: Yes I have watched Sleeping Beauty recently. I have two young neices. Shut up. ;)

But the theme song rocked! "It's all in your hands!"

Random side note, if they never make an Animorphs movie, then the Andalite Chronicles would still be awesome stand alone as a feature film. That's almost my absolute favorite book from the series. 8)

yeah, i remember those.

of all the things wrong with the show, i don't mind the cassie thing quite so much.
jake and rachel should have gotten together on the show, just to further confuse non-readers.

Lately I've been thinking that the David trilogy would make a damn epic movie.

And there could be lots of Muse music in it. Wish there was better footage of the show out there, even though it was basically terrible, so I could make many fanvids of it to their new album. Everyone here needs to go listen to "Uprising" immediately. SO perfect.

But I agree, the theme song for the show was pretty good, considering. i still get it stuck in my head for no apparent reason sometimes. And the Jake/Rachel stuff was weird and wrong. Eww. Mostly I just remember being unhappy because Rachel's eyes were the wrong color. That's just silly of me.

I never memorized what color eyes the Anis have. I think I enjoyed the theme song too. One of the things that came out all right.

I wonder if maybe the producers were trying for a Jake/Rachel pairing to avoid an interracial relationship. If there is Jake/Rachel subtext, and no mention of them being cousins, that may have been their intentions.

Yeah, but there was still some definite Jake/Cassie in later episodes, so I doubt they were trying to avoid it altogether. I think they might have just been trying to portray Jake and Rachel as 'family-close', but ended up making them seem TOO close.

....And yes, I DID actually sit through the whole thing not that long ago. It's good for a laugh if you already expect it to be bad.

I might have to watch it again (HAH! Like that's going to happen  ;) ) but I really don't recall a lot of Jake/Rachel moments, they might have been worth a laugh though. Then again when I read Ender's Game I didn't even notice that Ender and Valentine were "too creepy close" for a brother and sister until someone pointed it out to me, so where any Jake/Rachel romance may have existed I may just have written it off as a family moment.

One thing that did bug me though when the show first came out was that none of the characters felt right except Cassie and Jake. Tobias didn't look like the kind of kid who'd get bullied, I mean he looked like he'd be the bully. Leather jacket, head taller than everyone else, yeah I can so see anyone trying to shove his head in a toilet ... not. Rachel was just wrong, her voice didn't really carry confidence, and she sounded weak to me. Maybe I was expecting too much too, but Marco just wasn't funny, and . . . what was with the hair cut?

But looking back I really don't remember a ton of Jake/Cassie moments either so . . . yeah, I guess even those two weren't totally perfect, then again Jake and Cassie kept their relationship pretty quiet until they kissed so maybe Jake appearing more interested in Rachel than Cassie just shows how in character his actor was, he was keeping his relationship with the Cassie-character a secret from the viewers  :P

The idea that the show's writers might have pushed a Jake/Rachel pairing to avoid an interracial couple is an interesting one, and given the show's "quality" I wouldn't be surprised (disgusted and slightly ashamed of the human race in general, but by no means surprised). I mean it had a few surprisingly well done episodes but on the whole it was almost like they were trying to make it insufferably bad, so sure, why not throw in a bit of "she's my cousin but I love her" a side helping of "escape in butterfly morph, 'cause den we be so fast they no chatch us" and even throw in some  Hork-rubber-chicken-bajir to boot.

They Do mention they were cousins in the show.

Remember the episode where they go to the future? Future Rachel says "you were always so ****y cousin. Slam dunk."
And that's just off the top of my head, they probably mentioned it elsewhere too.

Edit: LOL, this forum sensors the word C-o-c-k-y.

Edit 2: just thought of another. In the newer opening credits with voice over, Jake says "my cousin Rachel and I...".

I didn't see the episode where they went to the future. It was just speculation, though.
