I don't know. there are about 6 billion people on the planet. 30 mil isn't even half. it's 1/200.

Yeah, but these weren't printed in every single country.

The Animorphs fanbase was freakin' HUGE while the series ran. There were hundreds of websites, with a new one popping up practically everyday. I mean, it beat out Goosebumps in sales, and reached up to #15 in the best sellers list at one point. Then, of course, Harry Potter came along and paved everything along its path. In fact, I think many of the fans did switch over to Harry Potter near the end of the series, or after it ended.

I'm not sure about the actual fanbase now. This is the only site I've seen so far (after 7 years) with so many fans in one place. A lot of the other sites have really just died out over time, and people have just stopped coming. But if a movie was made, I'm pretty sure that people would still remember it and would want to see it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it revived the series popularity once again.

Cool. A movie coming out is like one way to get Animorphs back in print.

You think they would re-do the covers with new special editions if they brought the books back? ;D

It'd be cool.

It'd be weird if they re-did the covers with movie characters if that was the reason they went back into print.

Even if only 1/1000 of the people in the world, knew about the Animorphs, it is still pretty big. The novel Noli me Tangere (Touch me Not), is really considered as popular and a work of art, yet I doubt most people know about it. How much more Animorphs where, thanks to the crappy TV show, got more popularity.
I'm just a writer, and my main goal was always to entertain. But I've never let Animorphs turn into just another painless video game version of war, and I wasn't going to do it at the end. I've spent 60 books telling a strange, fanciful war story, sometimes very seriously, sometimes more tongue-in-cheek. I've written a lot of action and a lot of humor and a lot of sheer nonsense. But I have also, again and again, challenged readers to think about what they were reading. To th

It would be very smart. They would make money from the books and market the movies at the same time.

I really don't think the fandom is that big compared to others.  A lot of people probably would know what Animorphs are if you asked them, but the number of people who still read the books and discuss them on forums like this one can't be more than a few thousand or so.

I'm still friends with people from when we all converged at really old fan sites, like Kimmeree's Anichats, which was pretty big back in the day...they aren't forum goers but they'd still know the story, I'm sure x3  Even Facebook has a pretty big group called "Animorphs Stole My Childhood...And I Don't Want It Back" xD;  anyone else a member?  *snurk*  the influence is much more widespread even if the number of loony fans like us is smaller than it used to be.

Do you think that movie companies are aware of the current Animorphs fandom?

I mean, they've been remaking a lot of old movies, so there's still a chance.
