RAFChat: Roleplaying room?

i didn't mean animorph RPs.
i meant animorph-related discussion.
the main chat gets overwhelming at times, and i'm sure that some members would like have an alternative.

however, there's nothing stopping anybody from using the second chat, no matter what its name is.

no, but seeing as the other isn't used (as it is), 3 wouldn't be needed.

i think the second room have multiple specific uses.
we can change the name from 'audio books' to something more generic.

how often do you see the audiobook chat being occupied?
i don't think another one is necessary. the usage would never overlap.

how's this sound? then we wouldn't need to make another room for every other situation that pops up.
it could be the 'other' chat for any time people need to type separately.

I actually think having an Animorphs Chat isn't a bad idea, for more Ani-centric conversations, and unless it's a huge amount of extra work on the mods parts I don't see why there can't be a chatroom for that and for RPG's.

I guess the way I see it, the major/most popular sections of the forum should have a chat to correlate with them. The General Chat kind of correlates to the General Board, the Media, the Bored Board, etc. Why not have a chat that correlates to all Ani-related convo, or to rp's? Both are huge parts of RAF with threads that are updated multiple times daily (whereas the projects may not need a chat because they usually do not involve a large number of people).

The problem with making it just an "Animorphs" chat is two-fold:
1) A person may enter and want to rp, but everyone is just talking about whether Marco and Cassie could ever pan out.
2) It would not be useful to any of the rp'ers in other non-Ani fandoms who would want to utilize it.

We already have one general chat, we don't need two. I think if you mods do decide to branch out and add any rooms, they should be more specific, not less.

I would see a big problem with the GESB moving to chat. One, there's no way to follow chat unless you're in chat at the moment it's playing out. The GESB thread would be in chaos. Also, posters like Ossanlin and myself, who don't post as often, would be completely lost. If the shoot-out between Keshin and Corliss happened in GESBchat, one post in the thread would show them fine and drinking side by side, and then the next post, they'd be bloodied up, and calling for a medic kit.

If we have an RP chat room, it'd have to be for completely new stories, or there'd have to be a Galaxy's Other Edge Space Bar. With new characters.

because it provides a viable option for people who wish to have a private conversation.

yes, there may be the odd chance that the room's interests would collide.
but stop and think about it; how often do you see the other being used as of now?
i seriously doubt that it would happen.

i see no reason why we couldn't have three rooms, but i just don't see it necessary.

I see the Space Bar thread and a possible RP room with a GESB time slot as two different things.  New characters could be introduced into a chat room, but the same characters could also have different interactions in that same setting, with the story in the thread simply being a different universe.  That good old "it's okay, it's in another dimension!" excuse.
