Tobias's Perch

Naomi rolled her eyes and gave Tobias a bland look. "Come in. I'll tell her to calm down," she said, giving him a small smile. He seemed like a polite kid, after all. Naomi stepped away from the door and walked to Rachel's room and knocked on the door. "The young man says it's important you talk with him," she called through the wood. "He said Tobias needs to talk with you."


Cassie blushed bright red. "My future? What do you mean by that?" she asked her mother suspiciously. "Never mind, can we just go now?"


Jean gave Steve a small smile of amusement and nodded, mistaking his nervousness to be about Cassie, rather than about Tom. "Alright, we're picking up Rachel in the way, so don't sprawl out too much in the back seat." She walked downstairs, picked up her purse, and walked into the garage, taking a seat in the car.


Marco sighed. "Just as you'd expect. Not a thing out of place. Man, this kid makes me look bad." He went to the dresser and opened it to find clothes. "Jackpot!" He began digging through until he found two shirts and pairs of pants that looked like they would fit him and Ax. There wasn't a big selection of clothes, and most of it was slightly too big for Marco, but it was better than spandex.

Ax looked confused, "Is 'Jackpot' a clothing brand? These both say 'Echo'." Ax didn't wait for a response before putting on the clothes. They too were a tad too big, and caused his pants to sag a little.


Rachel was too busy freaking out about the time and how long it would take to change. She completely ignored what her mother was saying. All she could hear was mumbling so she yelled again, "Just leave me alone. I have to get dressed. I'm gonna be late! I'll be outside in a bit! Guh-rrgh."


Michelle kissed her daughter again and said, "Okay." and started towards the door.

Walter stopped her by saying, "Whoa, hang on. I told everyone to meet here. We have to wait for them to show."


Jake's family got into their car and drove off to Rachel's house. Luckily they live very close together. They pulled up front and honked the horn twice.

Raksha blushed and laughed. "Thanks both of you." she said still laughing. She had hoped for a good reaction, but she hadn't expected that one. She looked back at Shawn affter they took off and asked, "Are you going to be okay?"

Shawn looked directly in Raksha's eyes and answered, "... ... ..yeah. Sorry, It's just you're so- and well." he sneaks a glance at his father, "uh... I'll be fine. Yeah."

Zander snuck little looks at how flustered his son was and he couldn't help but grin as he drove.

They made it to Cassie's house and it seemed they were the first to show. "We're here."

Marco's pants were also too big, so he went to Erek's closet and rifled through a moment before he found a couple of belts. "Alright, put this on like this," he demonstrated for the Andalite. Then while he waited for Ax to figure it out, he found a pad of paper and scribbled a note explaining where the Chee's clothes had gone. "Hopefully he won't be too mad--not like he needs these."


Naomi growled, displaying some of her daughter's own temper. "Listen when I call you, young lady. You had better hurry, because your aunt, uncle, and cousin are here to pick you up," she added at hearing the horn.


Cassie looked up as Shawn, Raksha, and Zander arrived. She blushed a little, feeling underdressed compared to them, but then she smiled. "Come on in. Glad you could make it. I'm Cassie," she offered her hand to Zander.

Rachel yelled back, "Well if you had told me sooner, we wouldn't have this problem would we? Or were you just going to let me go looking like some mall rat?" She slammed her door open, and said to her mom, "There I'm ready. Happy? God I'm so glad you're not coming." She went down the stairs as fast as she could without falling down in her heels. She strolled past the young man waiting for her. She glanced and saw he was there, but didn't look to see who he was. She just whipped back around and said, "And why didn't you tell him to go home? I told you I was getting ready and I didn't have time." She pointed out of the door at her extended family saying, "They're here now. I don't have time to talk to-" She looked straight at Tobias and stopped talking immediately. After what felt like forever, she finally was able to get a few words out, "to- tuh- Tobias?"

Outside her door, Jake's family waited in the car. When Jake saw her stop fighting with her mother, he knew something was wrong. He got out telling his parents to wait in the car. He jogged to the house, wanting to hurry, but not to arouse suspicion or panic. He slowed to a stop next to Rachel and followed her gaze. When he too saw Tobias, he froze.


Zander shook Cassie's hand and said, "Hi, I'm Zander, Shawn's father. Obviously."

Shawn held the door open for Raksha as they entered the house. He still couldn't speak. He walked to the group and gave everyone a hug. Today was an exceedingly shocking day. The Flying Dragon, Raksha in the dress she chose, and they covered up a Yeerk invasion of privacy. He just had no words.

Zander apologized for his son, "Sorry about Shawn, he's a little awe-struck." he nods his head in Raksha's direction. He can't help but grin at the situation. It reminded him of himself as a teen.

Walter laughed and said, "I can see why. Raksha, wasn't it? You clean up lovely."


Ax struggled keeping his balance while putting the belt through the holes and twisting his body to try and see the loops. He fell over a few times before exclaiming, "How do you do this with only two eyes? It's impossible!"

Naomi growled. "Don't take that tone with me!" she shouted back, not realizing her daughter was not entirely distracted by Tobias, as she was still at the top of the stairs.


Cassie smiled and nodded to Zander, and then went to stand next to her parents. "I hope the others are here soon," she said to her mom.


"Just find the beltloops with your hands," Marco advised him as he set the note down on Erek's immaculately made. "I wonder if robots sleep lying down... or even sleep? For all I know, he's never gotten in this bed. Doesn't he weigh like a ton?"

Ax tried to feel for the loops rather than see them. Something inside himself said to close his eyes. He did so and found his touch sensing had felt more in tune with his brain not distracted by sight. He looped the belt with eas from there. When he was done and latching the belt, he looked to Marco in amazment, that was amazing, I could 'see' the belt and loops even though I couldn't."

Tobias walks inside and smiles as he looks up at Rachel.*Hey Rachel.*he says simply,but in a strong way as he still looked very much the same that he had always been before he got trapped as a red-tailed hawk.

Rachel and Jake stood motionless. Neither could believe their eyes. Rachel moved forward and poked him to make sur she wasn't seeing things. When her finger made purchase, she began to faint.

Marco rolled his eyes at Ax with a smile. "You're easily amused, you know that?" he said. "Alright. Let's get some dinner."

Tobias smiles softly and lets Rachel touch him,as he almost didn't believe it was him either.Once he saw her beganing to faint,he quickly moved to grabbed hold of her in a hug.*Whoa Rachel.*

Jake was so immoblized he barely registered that his cousin had fainted on Tobias. When Tobias had caught her, he ran to her side helping Tobias keep her up. He looked into his eyes and asked, "Tobias, is that you? I mean, really you?"

Tobias nods softly.*Yes,its really me.*he looks around.*Lets put Rachel somewhere and me and you can talk.*he replies back to Jake.
