Tobias's Perch

[Blaise Zebrataur]

Tobias smiles and looks Rachel's sister,Jordan,before he began.*Is Rachel home?*he says softly and almost quietly,after not that long with his human mouth.

"Of course," Naomi nodded. "Good night." She pulled the phone away from her ear and pressed the red end-call button. At hearing the door open, she called in her loud there's-a-mom-here-so-intruders-beware voice, "Honey? Who's that at the door?"


Marco gave a lopsided smile tinged with residual worry for Ax. "Glad you didn't pass out, man," he said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Why don't you morph to human once you're rested, and I'll get the window open in the meantime." Marco walked to the house and, as casually as possible, pushed on the window. Fortunately, the Kings never locked it, as the Animorphs were fairly frequent visitors, and it slid right open.

She smiled and climbed into the front seat, closing the door and buckling up. "I can do a quick run-in to the store. No need to look around when you know what you're getting." she joked.

Jordan was about to answer the young boy, but her mother called out to her first. She turned to the direction her mother was calling from and answered, "It's a boy asking for Rachel!"


Walter hung up the phone and immediately called Jake's home. It rang a couple times before it was answered by Steve. "Hello, Steve? It's Walter... Fine, fine. Look, We had to change our plans a bit. We're going to the restaurant... Yeah the house is a bit messy, and this way you can order your own food than having to choose from or choices... Well, we'll still meet here, then go to the restaurant from here... Yeah, seven o'clock. Great see you here."


Steve hung up the phone and jogged upstairs. He knocked on Jake's room and told him about the change. Jake rolled his eyes and closed the door. Steve then went into his room and told his wife, "Hey hun, dinner's going to be at the restaurant instead of their house." He then started to change his outfit to something less casual.


Zander nodded and gave a neutral smile. "No problem. A quick shopper," he looked in the rear view mirror and said to Shawn, "I think you found a keeper son." He hit the button that opened the garage door, drove out of it, closed the door again, and drove off to the store.


Ax nodded, a habit he picked up from his friends, <I believe that would be best. I'll wait by the back door.> When his head quit spinning, Ax morphed back to human. He then dizzily made his way to the back door and waited for Marco.

Tobias smiles softly as he nods.*I'm just a friend..and I'd like to see Rachel if I am allowed to.*he says as he stood outside the door.

She gave a soft laugh and then looked behind her at Shawn and smiled with a quick wink.

"Oh really?" Naomi asked, suddenly even more interested. She walked to the front door and raised an eyebrow at the boy standing on her doorstep. "Here for Rachel? I don't think we've met. I'm her mother." She extended her hand, scrutinizing the boy.


Jean blinked then nodded. "That's very nice of them!" she smiled, amusing herself by happily daydreaming about the day when Cassie's parents might be Jake's in-laws as she went into her room to change into a nicer dress.


Once the window was open, Marco crawled inside, catching his foot on the windowsill and wincing, hopping about in pain for a few seconds. Then he went to the back door, turned the lock, and opened it. "Come on in, Ax-man."

((aw that sucks, Parker. I hate it when my posts get eaten right at the end. Have you ever noticed how that only seems to happen on huge posts? lol))

((Yeah, my phone's browser is gay. It deletes an an entire text entry if CLR is held for longer thana fraction of a second. It pisses me off so many times.))

Jordan hid behind her mother's legs when she came to the door.

Rachel heard some commotion downstairs and poked her head out of her room, "What's going on? Is it Aunt Jean? They're early, I'm still getting ready!"


Shawn gave Raksha a quick smile and blushed. His father was loving this, and he knew it.

They arrived at the shopping center where Zander thought Raksha wanted to go, "Is this the place?"


Walter finished getting ready for dinner and went in his bathroom to see if his wife was ready as well, "Babe, you ready?"

"Almost... yes." Michelle ushered Walter out of the door and out of her way. They both went down stairs and began to look around at the house. "The Kids did a great job didn't they?" Walter looked astounded.

His wife nodded, "Amazing, I can't even smell a thing."

Walter nods slowly, "Yeah, you'd think there would be some sort of odor." His wife just stood there nodding quietly.

Jake had gotten his outfit together finally and knocked on his parents' door, "You guys ready?" I want to get out of here before Tom get's back. "We have to pick up Rachel, remember."


Ax entered the house, "Where are our clothes?" He looked around, but couln't see anything.

"No, it's a boy, and he's here to see you," Naomi called to Rachel, still staring at Tobias, giving him her best protective-mother face as she gently put a hand on Jordan's head.


Cassie walked into the room where her parents stood, standing awkwardly in her outfit. She had heard the tail end of their conversation and wanted to steer them away from any suspicions they might have about what actually happened. "You two look nice. Do I look okay?" she asked.


"Weren't they in a bag somewhere? Maybe it got moved," Marco mused as he closed the door behind Ax, and began poking around the empty house.

((Parker, sorry if we mentioned where the clothes were earlier; if so, I totally forgot))

Raksha smiled and nodded. "Yeah, this is it. I'll be just a minute." she said and popped out of the car. She ran inside and asked the lady for the dress she wanted. the lady got it for her and she paid for it and a pair of strappy red heels. It was a simple dress, but still lovely. It was a red floorlength with a low back and straps around the neck. She let her hair fall down her back and dashed into the dressing room. She stripped out of her street clothes and into the dress and heels placing her clothes and sandals in her purchase bag and then stepped outside, heading back to the car.

Tobias smiles softly.*I'm a friend of Rachel..*he moves his hand out to shake Rachel's mom's hand.*...and if I am allowed,I'd like to see her.*

Rachel sighed frustratingly, "I'm getting ready for dinner at Cassie's house. Can they come back later?"

((Now would probably be a good time to tell her about the venue change. *hint* ))

Ax tried under the furniture. When he found nothing, he looked to Marco, "Perhaps the Chee cleaned the house and put them aside?"

((No, we never had specifics. I just figured that the Chee would clean it up and put them away.))

Steve fixed his collar and put on his jacket. He knocked on the bathrrom door and asked, "Honey, are you set?"


Cassie's parents looked at Cassie and both gave a big smile. Michelle ran to her daughter and gave her a big hug, "Oh my god, honey, you look so beautiful! Walter look at our daughter. She's so pretty. Oh Cassie, you have got to wear things like this more often. Where did you get this; and where have you been hiding it?"

Walter just smiled and occasionally rolled his eyes at his wife's squealing. He nodded when she went on about her beauty and said, "You're very beautiful Cassie." Otherwise he just watched his wife go insane with glee.


When Raksha came out of the store in her dress, Shawn's face went blank with awe. He couldn't do anything but stare. When she got back in the car, he stammered over his words, "Uh, wh, I uh, um.. You... wow."

Zander rolled his eyes subtlely and leaned slightly towards Raksha and said, "You look beautiful."

"Beautiful! That's th-uh... the uh, um.. word. Yeah. You look... great."

Zander gave a small laugh inside and drove off toward Cassie's house saying, "Here we go, off to The Flying Dragon."

Shawn, still in a daze only managed to say, "Yeah. Dragon. Flying 'n... yeah."

"Cassie's father called--it's going to be at the restaurant," Naomi called back, still staring Tobias down, almost hawk-like, herself. "Should I tell this young man to come back later?"


Marco sighed then shrugged. "Knowing our luck, Erek doesn't even have an clothes--he probably just projects them. Still, maybe he has some in a drawer somewhere to keep up normal appearances." He headed deeper into the house, looking for Erek's room.


"Ready," Jean answered, opening the door and smiling to her husband; she wore a simple but elegant dress. "Let's see if our boy is ready too."


Cassie groaned and shook her head. "Alright, Mom, alright, stop making a big deal out of it," she blushed. "Rachel helped me buy it a while ago. I just haven't had an occasion to wear it yet."

Tobias smiles and looks at Rachel's mom.*Tell her...its important and that...Tobias needs to talk with her.*

Rachel screamed at her mom after hearing the place had been moved to the restaurant, "WHAT? Are you serious? Why didn't-  now I have to change EVERYTHING! Mom, just tell him to come back later. GOD! " She slammed the door shut and went back her closet cursing aloud.


Michelle just looked at her daughter before saying, "Well then we have even more to be thankful for your wonderful friends."

Walter interrupts, "Okay Michelle, leave Cassie alone. You told her she looks beautiful, she appreciates it, can't you leave it at that?"

"Well I'm sorry that I want to celebrate that I have a beautiful daughter. I don't get to see that side of her too often. She's always in those overalls. It's nice to be reminded that we do in fact have a daughter."

"Now that's not fair, dear. You wore those same clothes when you were her age."

"Well, I'm just saying, it's nice to see her try and look nice for a change." She kisses her daughter and asks, "You know I love you, right dear? I'm just thinking about your future, that's all."


Steve answered, "Yeah, he's practically dancing outside of our front door." He led his wife out of their room to an awaiting Jake.

Jake was pacing in front of his parents' room. When they came out, he sighed and said, "Finally. C'mon, let's go. It's almost seven!"

((Did Jean tell the others that they were picking up Rachel? I can't look it up on my phone.))

Ax followed Marco, he was curious as to what the inside of a Chee's room looked like.
