Tobias's Perch

"You're only saying that because you've got a thing for bird-boy over there," Marco said to Rachel, jabbing a thumb towards the field. "Seriously though," he said, his smile fading. "He's not doing well. He's very unstable."

Cassie frowned. "He just ate," she said to Jake quietly. "When we were leaving my house the first time."

Tobias quietly,but quickly ate the rat as once again his hawk was filled.Feeling happy at this,he opened his wings and flapped up back toward the sky,in plain view of his friends,just acting like a normal hawk would,saying nothing at all.

Jake whispers back to Cassie, "That's what worries me. Don't hawks only feed once or twice a day? It seems a bit too soon for him to feed again. Do you think it could be a bad thing?"

Rachel rolled her eyes at Marco, "What does my relationship have anything to do with your lack of a personal life?"

Shawn decided to run into the house since everyone else seemed content with chatting outside. After entering the house, he ducked his head out and said, "You guys want to come in so Elayne can change and get back home? I'm sure she has Chee-spy stuff to do, you know, like figuring a way to keep Jake's parents away from the house tonight? We also have a house to clean before Cassie's parents get home."

Jake nodded, he almost forgot that Tom planned to infest his parents. With the new morph-capable human, Tobias's return, the fiasco with the two cubes, Tobias starting to wig out, and getting back to Cassie's house safely, he almost completely forgot. He looked around to everyone, "Yeah, let's hurry up and get inside."

Tobias flies up and was quiet once again as he flew around above Cassie's house to go on guard duty to make sure no one was around.

"Because you'd be dating me--duh," Marco teased, grinning mischievously at her and just waiting for a punch or a slap. At Shawn and Jake's words, he turned and headed towards Cassie's house, careful to remain inside the hologram.

Cassie looked to Jake as they followed Marco and Rachel. "It does. I think he's struggling to keep control. I'm worried what will happen on a mission; what if he spaces out while we really need him to be paying attention?" she whispered, not wanting anyone else to hear her doubts of their valued teammate.

Elayne walked with the group, amused at the thought of Chee spy work. She supposed that's exactly what it was, although she had never considered it in those terms before.

Tobias flies in a low circle,but high enough to be over the trees and watch around the woods and yard.<Clear.>he says simply to all the members that it was ok.

Jake whispers to Cassie, "What would happen if he over-ate on a mission? I think keeping him busy would be better to wake up his human mind, but too much too soon might make him want to escape again." Before he walked through the front door, he called out to Tobias, "Tobias, can you check the barn to see if her dad's home?"

Rachel rolled her eyes at Marco, "Marco, I wouldn't go out with you if Visser 3 had his tail blade to my throat and demanded me to. Death sounds like a much more pleasurable experience than sitting through a movie with you." She saw him prepare for a shot to the shoulder. She really didn't want to hit Marco, she wanted to be alone with Tobias and talk with him. Unfortunately, she had an image to uphold. She balled up her hand and threw a punch at Marco's shoulder.

Shawn looked around the house picking up furniture as he went. He didn't know where any of it went, but he knew it wasn't supposed to be upside-down.

<Sure Jake.>he says as he flapped toward the barn,not saying anything else and just doing what Jake ordered him to do for the group,his mind was calm but the hawk was again a small probley despite being filled.

Cassie watched Tobias then shrugged to Jake. "I don't know, maybe we should give him more credit. He seems okay now. I'm just worried." She sighed at the mess of her house and began helping right the furniture, directing the others where to put it.

Marco grinned and rolled his shoulder to keep the blow from hurting, glad Rachel was playing along. It was when she got serious that he started to worry about her. He turned to help Cassie with the house.

Once they were all inside, Elayne released the hologram and restored the one around herself that made her look like the young woman she had been when she had first met Jake, Marco, and Shawn at the school. "Do you have further need of my help, Jake?"

Tobias quickly flew to the barn and looked around carefully and closely,makeing sure he didn't screw up on this.Once he was sure,he flew back out of the barn and toward Cassie's house.<Clear.>he called in thought-speak to Jake.

After helping move a coffee table, Jake looked to Elayne, "Well, we need to find some way of diverting my parents in a couple of hours. Are you in a rush?"

Rachel looked at everyone, she then said to Cassie, to everyone, "Hey Cass, I'm gonna go upstairs and start cleaning your room. You know, before any boys walk in." She ran upstairs and went into Cassie's room. She shut the door and ran to the window. "Tobias."

"No," Elayne shook her head, watching Jake. "I will do what I can to delay them." She started to turn away, then stopped, looking at the floor. "I wonder," she said in a quiet voice that was still loud enough for his ears, "at what point it will make sense to remove them from this mess altogether. Clearly now that would raise the suspicion that you are all human, but if Tom could be taken too..." She let the suggestion hang.

Cassie nodded to Rachel with a smile and resumed working on tidying up the house, just trying not to think about all the missing animals in the barn.

Tobias hears Rachel's call and flies up toward the window as he lands on the window sill as he looked at her.<You call?>he says in a kind and soft way as he folds his wings,looking at her.

By the time Tobias said "call", she had wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly. Now that no one was around, she let go of her guard and broke down with Tobias in her arms. She only had one question in her mind, and she repeated it while holding him to her, "Why? Why, why, why...?"

Tobias smiles softly in his mind,he knew hawks weren't able to hug,but he didn't care right now,letting Rachel hug him not saying anything letting the moment speak for itself.
