The Blue Box
« on: June 16, 2008, 10:48:15 PM »
I always wondered how in the world the blue box worked. If it activated simply through touch, shouldn't David have gotten the morphing power when he first found it at the construction site? Or Jake, when he first retrieved it from Elfangor's ship?

Or, if it required a thought-speech command like other Andalite technology, what's up with the buffa-human and ant-Cassie?

These are the things that keep me up at night. >_>

I think a person with morphing ability has to hold it, then others kind of aquire the power just like they aquire DNA.

The sort of have to focus on the box the same way you have to focus on a morph to morph it.  The ant was concentrating on the Escafil Device because it was walking on it. ETC

I don't think so. Jake didn't say he was focusing on the box, when he and animorphs got the power.

I think it's just that someone who has the morphing power has to touch the box as well, for the person to get morphing power. I don't think there's any thought involved, because jake wasn't think about acquiring when he and the animorphs got the morphing power. There's probably another way too, so that the first person has morphing power, but that way's probably real complicated, and only andalite scientists know how to do it.

Well, I think that as long as you touch the blue box for a few seconds, you'll get the power. They only did the thing to David, to decieve him.... in case that he goes to betrayal that he needs an Andalite to have morphing power... I think.

then why did elfangor touch the box when he gave the morphing power to the animorphs, and they didn't know about David going to turn evil (I don't think even david knew at that point) so why would ax touch the morphing cube when giving david the power to morph.

Other than that, I  think it's just.. I dunno... tradition that an Andalite gives the power  to morph....
On the other hand... maybe Andalites operate the cube using thought-speak.... The buffa-Chapman and the ant-Cassie might just be KASU....

If someone with the morphing power needs to touch it, how did the Andalites use it when it was first built, and no one could morph yet?

Yeah dude, I always wondered on these questions, too.
How is it that non-sentient creatures can seemingly automatically transfer upon contact, but sentient creatures seemingly require a morph-capable person to have transfer?!

Maaan, if we go into depths in the world of the Animorphs we'll be like Alice in Wonderland, picturing going down into the Yeerk Pool could be like going down the Rabbit hole.

Also, how big is the Morphing Cube?
To be big enough to be carried in the mouth of a wolf and a buffalo, light enough to be carried by an eagle AND fit 5 palms of human hands on each facet. What proportions would you guys imagine that would approximately be?
Are we talking Rubik's puzzle cube-sized or fist-sized?!

I always thought that too and it kinda made sense, but then #39 had to totally screw that up with the Buffa-Human and Ant-Cassie. Not that I hated the book or anything, but I thought it was a little dumb saying that anything that touches the box can get the power. Thought speak activation would have been the best method as it was only supposed to be used and given to members of the Andalite military. That would have made the box a lot safer if it fell into Yeerk hands.

The sort of have to focus on the box the same way you have to focus on a morph to morph it.  The ant was concentrating on the Escafil Device because it was walking on it. ETC

That's a more realistic theory.

maybe the box builds up a charge after a morph capable person has touched it, cause before the buffalo and ant touched it cassie had just touched it, and then once its been sitting for too long it loses it

i personally just think 39 was a kasu but whatever, we need something to fill our days lol

Yeah, you'd think they could have made it so only Andalites could use the power, it would have been so much safer...but then we wouldn't have Animorphs, would we? xD

Actually we'd still have the Animorphs because Elfangor gave them the power so he could have activated the device. David would have still happened because Ax could have activated it, same for the auxilary Animorphs (he may have voted against both ideas but he would have followed Jake's orders). Book 39 wouldn't have happened, but the Yeerks would sadly have still been able to use the cube as Visser Three has an Andalite body.

The Andalites should really have included a security code or something. Elfangor would have known the code so the Animorphs would still have happened.

Build up a charge of what exactly? Morph energy? I guess it's possible. KA probably avoided going into detail on how it worked because she doesn't have a degree in advanced fictional alien technology.  ::)

Book 39 was filler yes, but it can't be a KASU. She would have based the entire plot of a book on a KASU. Plus it can't be considered a KASU because nobody knows exactly how the cube works.

Oh yeah, I see what you're saying.  I was thinking that if there was some lock on it to prevent other species than Andalites from using it, then it'd be foolproof...somethi ng like the Gleet Biofilter.  That still wouldn't stop Visser Three from using it though, so I guess a security code would be the better choice after all.
