I don't remember there being individual piers, except that one is for Yeerks going in and one is for Yeerks going out.

They may need to muzzle Taxxons first, or infest by hand.

i thought Taxxons where willing controllers. Because the yeerks could help suppress their ever present hunger

They can't control it that much if at all . They figured out who Elfangor was in the Taxxon world because he somewhat controlled his hunger as a taxxon

I've given it some thought and I'm going to say that maybe Yeerks are actually able to stun their hosts. I believe its said they echo-locate to a degree, and I've heard that Dolphins can use echo-location to stun fish. The Yeerks might also try to avoid crowding around the actual peer just in case a Taxxon gets hungry, or they might all echo-beat-down on him once his slimy head is in the pool   >:D

EXACTLY that is what is bothering me. i mean let's say they at least have ears. because i can't imagine giant centipedes with ears well at least ear holes. but how was the first one captured. I mean before they became voluntary they had to have some kind of battle or something and later the Taxxons decided to join them well at least some of them.

The Yeerks may have learned about them from the Skrit-na, or maybe by pure accident. Taxxons against Hork-Bajir is a pretty one sided fight, the Taxxons may actually have surrendered outright since when Elfangor morphs one its instincts alone know how helpless it is against an Andalite inteligent free Taxxons must have known how helpless they'd be against Hork-Bajir.

If not right away, probably after the first wave were slaughtered and devoured by their comrades  :P

I was actually starting to wonder about that too, the whole ear thing I mean. As for infestation maybe a Taxxon is infested through their rear. Amusing, and disgusting as that may sound consider that we know nothing about their physiology, a giant worm only has so many ends to stick in the pool and frankly I don't trust that thing's head in the Yeerk pool, if something's going in there I prefer it be the portion without a long bull whip tongue and rows of teeth.

Especially a non-voluntary Taxxon, what would keep him from eating the yeerks in the pool? They've displayed in book 4 that they can function underwater, can attack underwater and with tongues that lash out like bullwhips and apparently secrete some sticky substance they could grab a few yeerks before anything gets into their head.

interesting..
that's plausible, considering how little we know about taxxons, as you said.
maybe their brain isn't in their head?

I always felt that taxxons and Gedds would fall into the undesirable host category. seeing how both are just class 1 host species.
it's unimportant, but they're a class 2 species. so far, we only know for certain that skrit na are a class 1 species, because they undergo metamorphosis, or something like that, making them completely unfit as hosts. gedds and taxxons are a class 2 species because they're fit as hosts, but suffer physical drawbacks...

I thought species like Skrit Na were class 2. If I remember correctly, Class 1 are hosts that barely qualify as viable hosts. Taxxons because they're so hard to control and need almost constant feeding. Gedds because they're weak in just about every area. Then Class 2 are species that would make good hosts, except for one very inconvenient thing. Like Skrit Na metamorphosis.

Class Three are hosts that are good, but too low in number. Class 4 are hosts that are good, but currently too powerful. Then you have the Class Five holy grail.

metamorphosis makes them completely unsuitable. it takes days for metamorphosis to finish, so the yeerk would starve inside its host...

gedds and taxxons are suitable for hosts, but suffer drawbacks.

there are gedd contollers and taxxon controllers, but no skrit na controllers. trust me on this. you can even re-read Visser...

Would Humanity be classed as class 5 then?

yes it would... or well the yeerks classify us as class 5. personally, I feel we're class 4, but barely...

We're supposed to be class 5. If Yeerks went all out against us, we may win, but only if we could get ahold of their ships somehow. Which would only happen if they brought the pool or blade ship down to us.
