The climactic battle between Espilin and Aldrea was also good, when Aldrea was almost infested by the soon-to-be Visser Three.
I'm just a writer, and my main goal was always to entertain. But I've never let Animorphs turn into just another painless video game version of war, and I wasn't going to do it at the end. I've spent 60 books telling a strange, fanciful war story, sometimes very seriously, sometimes more tongue-in-cheek. I've written a lot of action and a lot of humor and a lot of sheer nonsense. But I have also, again and again, challenged readers to think about what they were reading. To th

When Dak says to Aldrea "These are my people. This is my planet..." and the rest of that little speech.
There's a method to my madness, I just haven't figured it out yet.

The beginning of the battle when Aldrea and Dak attack with the "monsters of the deep". It's in Esplins POV and he sees her coming up from the mist and he talks about how beautiful that image is and how he'll tell her that, when she is his host.

Also, Dak's amazing speech. I can't remember the whole thing but it ends with: "No, we're too simple for that. We're too stupid to lie and manipulate. We're too stupid to be ruthless. We're too stupid to know how to build powerful weapons designed to annihilate our enemies. Until you came, Andalite, we were too stupid to know how to kill."

Oh! and the end of the first big battle where the Hork-Bajir drop from the trees crying out "Do as HE does" and kill for the first time. It's just so epic and horrifying and I get goosebumps every time I read it.

Now I have to go reread HBC...

You thought that was awesome! wow. I thought it was tragic. Awesome doesnt describe how it feels to lose your family. I can still remember Aldrea painfully calling "BARAFIN! BARAFIN!"

Lol....im sorry. That actually was awesome..

Ironically I just started reading this book the other day. Its intense. And i love that speech by Dak. While i was reading it i kept thinking man, how does KA come up with this stuff? With these characters and their amazing rhetoric. Hell, HER rhetoric. She's brilliant and really knows how to move her readers.

Except for that last book. Sorry. But i will forever hate the rushed ending.

seeing a gentle peace lovin race kill because you told them too, and knowing they dont even know what they're doing, ouch

man that whole book was awesome. Aldrea is totally using dak for her own species then they turn around and use her and everyone screws everyone over, and it still ends up being a love story all the way through lol

Yeah, I really think that HBC is the most epic of the Chronicles. It's just....amazingly intense.

In fact, the first time I read HBC I think I thought that's what it was.
