Okay, my response to Damien's yeerk-resistant character idea:

NO.

Well, that was my first thought, anyway. After that, cogs started working in my brain in that random way that's common to my brain and I came up with a possible way a host 'might' have some slim chance of disrupting Yeerk-control/access: Autism.

An autistic person's brain does not function the way it should, so various 'pathways' etc might be a labyrinth for the Yeerk to navigate effectively.

However: Playing the part of someone with such a condition for a player who doesn't suffer that condition themselves would be very challenging to pull-off.

I'm also concerned with where such a character's allegiance lies. Every 3 days, the Yeerk would need a dip in the pool, or else die. During separation of Yeerk and host, how would each act? How could it be safe for the group to let this Yeerk join his kind on a regular basis like that?

If you want to play a 'bad-guy', that's fine with me. I'm sure we could whip-up some reason the char might lose some (or all) his memory prior to being infested... Or you could apply for a second character to be this 'bad-guy'. You're not restricted to one-char-per-player, you know.

I'd also like to second Jessica's observation implying that there seems to be some meta-gaming going on:

Every sentence Alice has spoken, I have carefully constructed. Where she has been vague, this is by player-intention. Throughout the 'big speech' post, she only made one reference to the Yeerks being parasites, and that was when she used the word 'host'. She did not elaborate and say they control people from within. Yet. She has previously implied something along the lines of 'mind-control' being used by this enemy species, but for all the other chars know, this could have just been a brainwashing-ray or other kind of technology/implant/etc.

I realize there may be some impatience to get all chars 'in-the-know' about all this background stuff, but it is appreciated when people show they have taken the time and effort to actually read the posts, rather than skimming and assuming everything that should be said has been said, especially when that is not the case.

... I'm gonna stop there before this post turns into too much of a rant. I would like to point out that I've also noticed a few really attentive players in this RP, that I very much enjoy RPing with.

Actually I wanted Damien to have a 'defect' with his DNA which gives him an unusually high IQ for a human (but doesn't even compare to a android etc.) and that same defect allows him to block some, however not all, of his memories from the yeerk. However even blocking one single memory is mentally exaughsting and if he passes out mentally the yeerk would have complete access to his memories... I don't know if I already said this. And I don't want Damien to be evil, just... socially awkward. I wanted him top be captured and infested managing to hold off the yeerk form accessing his memories of the others involved in the lock-in and somehow gets away, through the others rescuing him or he makes a run for it once the yeerk leaves and succeeds (the second more unlikely) But it doesn't matter to me ether way, it was just an idea.

You want Damien to have a high IQ as well as partial Yeerk-blocking abilities of any kind?

Again, NO.

One or the other, dude. If you want your char to have a high IQ, that's plausible and the GM might even accept it, but on the condition that it is the only positive 'quirk' of the character. Play fair, dude. Sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go, I'm seriously not trying to flame you.

To be honest, Fu isn't flaming you, he's being honest. I know he's not taking any of this personally and neither should you.

'Actually I wanted Damien to have a 'defect' with his DNA which gives him an unusually high IQ for a human (but doesn't even compare to a android etc.) and that same defect allows him to block some, however not all, of his memories from the yeerk.'

To be honest with you, you're not going to be able to pick and choose what memories Damien could block from his Yeerk occupier. I will be playing the Yeerk and I'll be rolling a  die (with a 20 - 40% accuracy of Damien being able to block anything). I also have devised a drawback if you want to go with Damien having a mental defect. It might not be one you'd want, but it will tie into the RP.  Let me know if you would like to discuss it. If you want to become a controller, it has to work with the RP (so no one suddenly deciding they were infested during the Lock in.)

This goes for every one in the RP- your character DOES stand a chance of being infested- just like Tom or Jake. You have to be comfortable with that. If you are infested, I'll be controlling what your Yeerk does - and to be honest, he may race immediately towards the Yeerk Pool to betray the other PCs. That could be the PCs first mission to intercept or 'save' one of you, but if Damien (or if someone else becomes a Controller and is the one racing to betray you) reaches the Yeerk Pool and gives up your identities, expect the heat to rise.

NPC wise
Every one whose introduced an NPC, they are off limits for you to control them. Right now, they are involved in plot things that you will see soon. This includes Damien's family and Sandra.

I don't like the tone in your keystrokes  ;D

That was why I said it didn't matter to me ether way, I already figured that my idea would be rejected because he already has a high IQ, however I still want the fact that he might be taken over just doesn't get a chance to say anything, or something... I don't want him to be evil, just experience what it is like to have a yeerk in his head, and have the yeerk use his IQ to try and escape... if oyu can't fight your way out physically use your mind, that is what I say... although my mind is a bit unstable... I may act stupid (in real life) but I'm actually quiet smart... now only if I did my homework I'd get straight A's... *embers he is putting off doing homework by being on the computer right now* ah nothing to worry about!

And don't worry I don't think you're flaming, trust me I know the fine line between flaming and... not... flaming?

Argh, your foreignness, burns! *melts*
I'm just kidding, I think the British are awesome... sort of... except this jerk at school who thinks be knows everything... he is a foreign exchange student... and he uses a over exaggerated accent that he knows annoys me... and I mean way over exaggerated...
Anyway I think we got a little off topic...

So anyway, what about my other idea, not the one with Damien and the yeerks?

To tell you the truth, if you want to do the Damien has a special ability relating to a Yeerk, you can. I've devised a way to make it fair for the others. We should be clear that Damien's IQ isn't so much higher than the others. He also may have a unique angle if you want to go through with infestation.

I really like the idea of our group causing the other Animorphs. Its a wonderful effect- through trying t save the world, they altered one little thing, a nothing thing- that changed the course of Elfangor and in the long run, saved humanity. So while *they* failed as in they didn't physically do it themselves, they had a hand in it all along.

As we're talking about hitting the Zoo in the chat (come on in!) heres an interactive map so you can start deciding what animals you'd like your character to acquire.

By the way,

Bio for NPC
Sandra
Age: 16 1/2
Sandra stands a little on the shorter side, with bright red hair and black hornrim glasses. Her attire tends towards "scene"- shirts of obscure or vintage bands, black jeans, suit jacket covered with buttons and patches, etc...

Sandra is a theater kid who takes mostly AP classes except for math and science, which she has considerable difficulty with. She's currently in the school's psychology class (assuming it has one) and is interested in studying psychology when she goes to college. Her mom made her play the violin when she was a kid but she is currently trying to learn how to play the guitar. She is helpful, clever and perceptive.
