Something I never understood about the stranger
« on: June 09, 2008, 06:49:15 PM »
I looked at the other topics to make sure and I didnt see anything about it so I'm hoping it hasnt already answered. In the stranger when the Ellimist took them into the future and they meet the future Rachel controller she is suprised by the andalite and she believed it was six humans that had the power to morph and that there was no andalite as a part of the andalite bandits. What changed?

This is just a personal opinion, because I don't think its ever actually explained, but I think in Future Rachel's version of events Melissa was part of the team and Ax never was. I get this from the MM where the timeline is all screwed up and Melissa is there instead of Rachel. Just an idea.

But no, they never specify. Because, as the Ellimist says, every decision and every action changes the future.

EDIT: Another option: In this alternate version of the Aniverse Ax is never rescued, but the David situation still occurs and he's the one who sells the Ani's out resulting in the final takeover of Earth and the "6 human Animorphs" being captured.

I never really thought about that but its a good point that it was Mellisa in the Megamorphs book, I guess I'm just confused because the Ellimist must have taken them to a future from a different timeline as opposed to the one they were in because making their decision wouldnt have changed the past only the future right?

I think it's because the timeline that they are taken to is only one possible version of the future, because like Terenia said, every action changes the future. So what they saw wasn't definite and was only there to show them where the Kandrona generator was. The details seemed filled in.

yea it could just be, but thats always the most boring explanation, its better to just let ourselves come up with stupid ideas that make no sense lol

maybe the ellimist purposely showed them a flawed future so that they would see that it wasnt really his intention to show them a real future but instead to show them the esg tower

Isn't it screw up ?

Now, I like Terenia's second theory, but my thought is that it's because it never happened
The Ellimist didn't show them the future, or even a future, I don't think hurdling people through time is in his list of moves.
He messed with them.
He tried to scare them and wanted to see how they would react, it was his science experiment, and the error was made intentionally by him. Kinda like the whatever that singled out Jake in 41.

That's my theory anyway
Something, something, oh crap I pissed everyone off again....

I don't think that was the future anyway. I think it was just a vision that the Ellimist showed the Animorphs and Ax. I mean, the Ellimist said himself that he cannot control the outcome of the future, or know what will happen, he can just created situations and hope that it will play out.

The Ellimist cannot predict the future. Period.
I'm just a writer, and my main goal was always to entertain. But I've never let Animorphs turn into just another painless video game version of war, and I wasn't going to do it at the end. I've spent 60 books telling a strange, fanciful war story, sometimes very seriously, sometimes more tongue-in-cheek. I've written a lot of action and a lot of humor and a lot of sheer nonsense. But I have also, again and again, challenged readers to think about what they were reading. To th

Even in the timeline where Mellisa replaced Rachel, Ax was there. This was either some other possible timeline, or just something the Ellemist made up to point them at the kandrona generator. That was what he really wanted them to know about.
