Present and absent (wildweathel)
« on: February 03, 2009, 05:33:50 PM »
OK, so rather than necro my intro thread with the huge-bleedin'-post at the beginning, I'm making this one to track my presence and absences here.  This weekend, I'm going to San Jose, CA.  I'll bring my laptop, and there's sure to be Internet access from time to time (it is Silicon Valley ::)), but if I disappear a little, that's why.

Thanks.  I'll try to at least have a good time for the circumstances.  It does suck only visiting for funerals.

Flying Thursday and Sunday, really busy Friday.  Back on Monday
But, there's probably wifi along the way (airports and Santa Clara's free municipal), so assuming my snazzy new iwlwifi driver works, I'll be around.

Just maybe not as prolific.  And it's only a long weekend, so don't be sad.  The worst part will be no microphone (unless I decide to take it.  Not sure yet.  It's a little pricey to subject to airline baggage handling.) which will further delay my review of Ken's lines (I'm beginning to believe that character really is cursed.  Stop being lazy, Weathel; stop being lazy.)

Only visiting for funerals :( I'm sorry. I hope you manage to have a somewhat good time anyway!

For funerals?  :-[
I didn't know that.

I didn't know that.

Well, that's not entirely true, it's just felt like that the past couple of times where one family member or another has been in the hospital if not recently-deceased.  Anyway, I'm going now (2230) to finish up packing then wake up at 0700 (all times now UTC, to work around jetlag) for an 1130 flight out of Boston, finally arriving in San Jose around 1900 (I guess I'll try to keep my usual bedtime of about 0100; that's an 18-hour day, though, so I might actually retrograde a bit to 0000 or even 2300 if I'm tired then.)

Anyway see you all Monday at the latest.

Ahh.  Tadaima.  It's good to be back with all you wonderful people.

And, I'm off to CA again.  I'm packing and traveling during the RAFparty.  Oh well.  At least I won't have to fly pet-class this time, hopefully.  Anyway, I'll be about a week, but I might make a pringles-can antenna with my uncle--to get a usable wifi signal.
