Ninites. Tiny little robots in every cell of your body. They would each be capable of rewriting your DNA and replicating cells while holding your conscious mind intact. If there were to much mass they could collectivly transition to Z-space via tiny z-space engines.

Just an idea.

Well think about it, it's been stated several times that the extra mass ends up in Z-space, how do you think it gets there? That's what gave me the idea, several tiny z-space engines in every cell would theoretically allow that.

My God, I'm an even bigger nerd then I thought...

Should I cheer or cry?

You're better off cheering, being unhappy with who you are will get you nowhere. Rejoice in your nerdiness!

However I do have one question with regards to your theory. It explains where your excess mass goes when you morph small, but where does it come from when you morph big?

Nanites zipping to Z-Space, grabbing some mass, and zipping back into real space?

But where does that mass come from? Is there just a bunch of random mass in z-space, waiting to be used?

there is no mass in zero-space. there's nothing in zero space. ax mentions that in #18.

That's why they would have to be able replicate cells, to build more mass.

Well it's been said they draw mass from Z-Space i think.  Z-Space is ntohing as in no space and no matter, but I always thoguht of it as pure energy.  I thought they took energy from Z-Space and transformed it into matter (fantastic, I know.)

Yeah, morphing technology, faster than light travel via alternate dimension, disintegration rays and  a race of super advanced robots living on Earth for thousands of years are all fine, but creating matter from energy, that's just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ay out there  :P

Still, that's a much more down earth explanation. And presumably the nanites can stash the excess mass in z space when you've finished.

Care to hazard a guess as to the reason for the two hour limit?

well, it was mentioned that your mind, although in Z-space, has a "bond" between the new body and old body, which explains why something like an ant brain can handle thinking, because the human mind is still intact.

The two hour limit may be something in these bonds, like after 2 Earth hours, the bond disappears forever?

doesn't that mean your human consciousness and intelligence is lost as well, leaving only the instinct of the animal you morphed?

hmmm... maybe the bond between the minds stays... but the bonds between the bodies don't. Kind of a "you can't call your old body back" thing...  :)
